Quick Post

Dalton and I went on a field trip this afternoon...I'll blog about that and some other things some other time but wanted to get a little somethin' up for today. More "everyday life" kinds of things...

The boys got umbrellas from the Easter Bunny this year. They love them, just like the E.B. knew they would:

And here's a few of Autumiss' hair the other day. All I had to do was turn on some Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and she sat super still for me to work on her head. If only I had time to put her in front of a show to fix her hair every day...she'd be sporting some fancy hairs more often!

More Everyday Life

This is me just keepin' it real here...

It's how our life is.

Anyway, we were running low on diapers and waiting for our order to arrive from Amazon. So I was pushing the time in between changings just a smidge:

Hey, it doesn't bother Baby Girl.

But I started feeling bad and took it off her to let her run around on the hard floor nakey for a bit. Of course she let loose a big ol' puddle and then slipped and fell in said puddle. She was fine and we cleaned up. Autumn too.

Thinking she'd be done making puddles for awhile I kept her diaperless a little longer but it wasn't long at all (like, two minutes) before I think she intentionally peed again just for the fun of cleaning it up! When the boys said, "Moooooom, Autumn peed on the floor again." I took a peek and she proudly let me know, "Keening! Keening!"

I'm thinking she's not going to potty train early or anything like that. :)

Everyday Life--with Autumn

Continuing with yesterdays photo theme with the everyday toothbrushing, lunch eating, and such...I've got some videos starring the little Miss. None of them are particularly short, but for those far away or those that want to see what she's like as of late, take a look...

She's a BIG Mickey Mouse Clubhouse fan. Huge.

This is just a little conversation with her from last month. Her skills have grown a bunch since even then so I should get something "fresher" but for now this'll have to do:

Entertaining us at lunch one day:

And, I said she was a big Mickey Mouse Clubhouse fan...but she's not a fan of the entire cast. We find this discovery to be pretty amusing:

How cute is Dalton's giggle in some of those, by the way? That boy's chuckle is so contagious he gets strangers laughing in grocery store aisles just hearing it. Love him. Love them all!

Family Movie Nights

We've been doing what we call "Family Movie Night" for a good long while. Usually we'd order a pizza and eat it picnic-style on the living room floor in front of a family-friendly movie. But recently I decided we'd kick it up a (very small) notch, largely so we could do it more often (Jason can only eat so much pizza...).

For example...not long ago we did a "Lady and the Tramp" night. I honestly don't recall what we ate for dinner other than it was "Italian food". But I'd made Chex Muddy Buddies a.k.a. "puppy chow" for dessert and we ate some of it off a plate using just our mouths like a doggie. We also rolled balls back and forth with our noses:

On another night, Jason was in Chicago on a business trip so the kids and I had a Cinco de Mayo themed family movie night. We had quesadillas and virgin margaritas:

I just love how Dalton is looking up to his big brother there.

We sat down in front of a very old Donald Duck movie "Three Caballeros" and even though it's from 1944, the kids were still captivated and quite amused:
Photobucket
Okay, so maybe the picture doesn't show it so much, but really, they loved it.

It's a bit challenging because the kids are all so picky so it's hard to be real elaborate with some of our theming. But we're trying.

We also recently had a "Hercules" night. Well, we tried. When we picked the movie up from the library I told Easton what it was about and how it was set in Greece and how we could maybe eat some Greek food like hummus (which the boys love). He suggested, "Or we could maybe have bacon and butter because that's greasy". :) Instead they had hummus and pita and helped me with the spinach for the spanakopita I made Jason and myself.
Photobucket
Then we went to pop the movie in and found the wrong disc inside. So we watched "Up" instead and will have to try Hercules again some other night very soon.

We've got "Bambi" here and ready to go but thought that wouldn't be such a great "Mother's Day weekend" choice. Cuz...you know...

I'm sure I'll post about more of these (slightly) themed movie nights again in the future. Just one of the things we've been doing that I don't want to forget with my many months off.

My Mother's Day--2011

My seventh Mother's Day as a mom. Wow. And my second blog post in as many days. Wow again.

This year's Mother's Day was great, as usual...but Jason had worship band that morning which means he gets up at 6:30 and I'm on my own with the kids all morning. But it was fine...I mean, on Mother's Day I had to... *gasp* ...be a mother. :)

The boys woke up and came running into my room greeting me with a "Happy Mother's Day, Mommy!" and some things they'd made me:
Photobucket

Photobucket
The kid knows how to spell "you"...he spells it once in that letter. No idea what he shortcutted with the "u" those two times. Like he was texting me. :)

Photobucket

I was so touched that Easton remembered my special day without being reminded. They'd hid those papers behind a pillow in their room and remembered to get them for me all on their own. I'm not surprised E remembered, but it was still very touching. I didn't want to have to be all, "Hey, be nice to me, it's Mother's Day." Ha! They did it on their own.

Autumn slept very late so the boys just played quietly while I wrote that first-back blog post. When Autumn woke up the kids had their pre-church bath and we all got ready. Miss Miss was looking particularly lovely in some hand-me-downs with some sticker earrings (from the Easter Bunny)...
Photobucket

...and her first tiny French braid:
Photobucket

She's very girly and loves "bow bows" and such but sitting still for an extra long time to get her hair did is still hard for her 20 month old self.

The kids and I hit Atlanta Bread on the way to church for some breakfast. I sure didn't want to have to cook anything. They were out of the boys' favorite chocolate croissants but the boys were very sweet about it and happily shared a muffin top and pecan roll instead. I was still eating my croissant sandwich as we walked in to church.

We did church and then stopped by Lowe's on the way home. Jason wanted to get some flowers for our yard to plant. Love that I'll have "Mother's Day flowers" all summer long!

We had some lunch and I got to open some presents but first I posed with the littles who make me a mama, the best title in the world:
Photobucket

Then I could dig into my stuff...some adorable Tinkerbell summer jammies:
Photobucket

And a point and shoot camera.
Photobucket
I have been wanting one since the last one broke. The last one broke the day after I bought the DSLR. And I love my DSLR to bits, but because of the size, value, and equipment involoved I don't bring it everywhere and noticed that I hadn't been taking as many pictures (which actually may not be a bad thing, tee hee!). Anyway, I love that I have something I can tote along with us more often that presumably takes better pictures than my phone's camera.

After that, Jason put Autumn down for a nap and the boys and I put on some sunscreen and headed out to the front yard for some planting. Jason came too, once Autumn was in bed and we decided to re-level our decorative bricks around the flower bed so the boys entertained themselves by climbing the trees...then they went inside to play Wii so it was just me and J planting the pretty flowers:

Autumn woke up and we headed out for dinner at Mimi's Cafe. I wanted to go to Fuddruckers but apparently all 3 that were here in Colorado are now out of business. The wait for a table wasn't too bad considering it was Mother's Day but our food took forever. Still, it was a lovely day for me! Hope you all had fabulous days as well!

Since I Last Blogged...

I lost nearly 25 pounds...
Photobucket

Easton turned 6...
Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Dalton turned 4...
Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Autumn turned 17 months, then 18, and then 19, and then 20... At 17 months she went in the potty for the first time. Clearly she's got some more practicing to do but she loves to sit there...
Photobucket

Jason turned 38...
Photobucket

Photobucket

And I gave him a "subscription" to a "Date of the Month" club with 12 pre-planned dates...no two are alike and NONE of them are "dinner and a movie". Gramoo gifted him the babysitting. So far, in March, we did breakfast for two followed by a tour of Coors brewery...
Photobucket

And in April we went for BBQ and then saw a comedian at the Denver Improv. Next up is our May date and Jason doesn't know what's planned yet, may as well fill him in here...
Photobucket

That's an afternoon at the museum with the new "Born to Be Wild" (in 3D) IMAX and dinner at a Brazilian steakhouse. Yum! That's as close to the generic "dinner and a movie" as we'll get, though.

We said goodbye to Blitz at the end of February...

Photobucket

And hello to Sugar at the beginning of March...
Photobucket

Photobucket
Sugar is a bit naughty but she's very sweet and loveable. She had some tummy troubles (with episodes of bleeding) but I think after two trips to the vet and 3 rounds of meds she's better. It would help if she wasn't part dog and eats everything she can find. We've found her in
the trash can...repeatedly. She gets in the kitchen sink, she ate an Amazon box...well, she tried. Ugh. She sits under Autumn's chair at meals and tries to eat what falls to the floor. What a nut.

I get to watch my baby nephie Caise on Friday afternoons, which the cousins (and I) LOVE...

Pa-Paw and MeMe came for a visit...
Photobucket

And really not much else has changed. Just been hanging around...
Photobucket

Jason continues to be a part of the worship team at church and is still happily employed by Microsoft who just moved in to some new, posh, downtown Boulder offices. I continue to work with Autumn's class at church once a month. Most of you are my "Facebook friends" and already keep up with us that way. A big reason why I stopped blogging. Well, that, and the pictures got to be too hard to upload but Jason fixed that for me. Easily. Who knew all it would take was a simple Google Bing search to get me to write a blog post. Now, I'm not sure that "I'm back, baby!!!" and all that...but I was ready to post a little something again.

A VERY Happy Mother's Day to the mom's that read this. It's pretty much ONLY moms that read this, right?
