El Día de los Muertos

Okay, I have nothing to say about the day of the dead other than it's today (and tomorrow morning) and that Jason likes when I say "muertos". So, hence today's post title. But, back to English and other normal topics...

Yesterday was fun and I have a ton o' pics as promised. After Easton's nap we headed up to Boulder for the work party. It was so so. Not the most kid friendly environment but we did okay. Easton wanted to "run run run" laps inside the building. We got tired of chasing him. Well, I did. Jason chased him quite a bit with his long mullet locks flowing behind him:

We left the shindig shortly after 5 and rushed home to hand out candy lest our pumpkins get smashed.

When we arrived home there were Trick or Treaters out in full force, some heading up my driveway. I said, "Give me just a sec to get inside!" but instead those ones skipped our house. Fine! Easton was so excited to help hand out candy and really wanted to hold the bowl. This is him asking for it:

We handed out a bunch of treats and then decided to take Eastie out for his turn:

Coats are always part of a Colorado trick or treater's get up, unfortunately. Easton had fun walking down our street, bucket in hand and practicing saying, "Trick or treat" but not when someone was actually at the door ready to hear it. Oh well. At one house down the street he got scared. They had spooky sounds playing and fancy animated decorations and lighting. We were actually shocked that he knew enough to even be scared. Here he is asking for me to hold him:

We taught him to make the "scary" sounds himself to show him they weren't all that scary. But, we did call it a night after that. He loved helping out with the candy back home anyway. Anytime the bell would ring he'd get so excited, grab his own bucket and follow one of us to the door. It was so sad though, everytime after the bell would ring he'd come back to the coffee table, dump out his loot, and then try to put it all back in for the next round of trick or treaters. He wasn't always fast enough and I caught a video of it and it just about broke my heart. He didn't show he was sad or anything but just watching him picking up his stuff, looking at the door to see if he should abort his current plan or just run with it, then finishing up just as Jason closed the door made me want to cry for him. Even though he was fine. I helped him pack it up so he could greet the next batch of kids on the porch. Whew.

At around 7:45 we turned off our porch light and headed up for the routine.

Daddy and Easton got to read two stories: Corduroy (from Gramoo last year):

And then a fun new scratch 'n' sniff Halloween tale from Gramoo this year:

They read and get E nekkid whilst I ready the bath. Easton came in doing his Full Monty "You Can Leave Your Hat On" impression. Apparently he didn't want to lose the hat so he came in wearing only the hat. Very cute. I did make him take it off eventually as he was in dire need of a hair washing:

Despite going to bed about a half hour later than "normal" he decided to wake up a whole hour earlier than normal (at 6:30). Ick. Again, he wanted his hat first thing--before Jason even could lay him down to change his diaper. Actually, first thing he asked to eat which is something he's never done before. On a rare day he might ask for "milk" but never "eat". He was starving. I guess Halloween candy for dinner isn't so filling? The poor starving child:

He actually ate quite a lot of my oatmeal, a few bites of graham cracker, and then some canned pears. He wasn't lying when he said he wanted to eat. Not that time anyway. He was a little Eastie Monster all morning, though. He was slightly better for a few minutes after he ate but otherwise he's been rather draining today. It is not my favorite day. We did go to Gymsters for our make up and guess what: I found some money. Not in the couch though, in an old bank account. So, we signed up for round 2 of the class. Woo hoo! Anyway, Gymsters was pretty fun. There was a lot more boys in this class and two dads! Good for them. We're going to stick with the Tuesday class though as we enjoy our Circle Time on Wednesdays. This class didn't have much in the way of rascals either although one did try to steal Easton's hat off his head as we were leaving. I don't blame him, Easton is very cute in the hat:

I have no clue what the afternoon will hold as I don't know if E's mood will allow for a trip to Wal-Mart or not. Hopefully the nap will "cure" him. We shall see...

Seeing Jason with hair (well, fake hair) is a trip! Also I LOVED the picture of him reading to E in the chair pre-bath.

Sounds like E had a good time- he is just too darn cute! I wander what duecie will look like?
