Christmas Eve

So just wanted to catch y'all up on a few of the happenings from yesterday that I didn't cover in last night's blog.

When we got home from the mountains we jumped right back into our old ways and soon the boys were playing, "Row, Row, Row, your boat" with Easton's mop and shovel "oars".

When the boys went down for quiet/nap time I had to run out to the stores. I decided on a last minute side-dish I wanted to make and needed the stuff for that, and then Santa found that Dalton was lacking a bit in the way of stocking stuffers. So he stopped for a few extras. Not that Dalton would care...not at all...but he's got this big brother that might notice. As it is anyway he's getting some practical things for his stocking...some new mesh feeders, a gummy crib rail guard as he's taking after his brother who was part beaver, a new paci clip...you know, the essentials. Easton got socks in his first Christmas stocking. As that is a fairly boring "gift" he went and found the Snickers nutcracker from Jason's stocking instead and went to town on it before Jason and I even realized he was missing. That was fun. I had not yet given him sugar...and Snickers have nuts...a "no no" before they're a year old. Eek! You can see I was slightly troubled by the situation:

Whew...that was quite a tangent. Anyway...getting back on track...

After I got back from the store, while Dalton was still sleeping, Easton and I went to work on some simple, pre-cut gingerbread men:

I love how he lined them all right up:

We decorated some of them with mini chocolate chips before baking:

Diddle woke up and got to pose with them:

And Eastie got to eat one:

We're so fun, aren't we?

Then we finally got around to hanging up our stockings. My grandma (Grammy) has made both the boys their stockings. This is Dalton's new stocking as this is his very first Christmas. It's the plaid one...not the little mini one next to it. I love it:

And Eastons' making it's third appearance:

Blitz used to use a Santa hat as his stocking but this year we wanted to wear the hat so we found this little thing among our decorations for him:

And after that, and instead of eating a real dinner we decided to have some fun. Jason had to buy a new camera for work. It is a very nice, very expensive camera and he had to bring it home with him for the long weekend in order to get to know it. So, we broke it out to take some should-be-good pictures. We did find that it does pretty darn well with action shots. I wish you could tell how high up in the air Easton is here, but still, a crisp action shot nonetheless:

So then Jason said, "We should try to get some really good action shots. Throw the boys up in the air." And he laid on the floor while I tossed the kids around:

Yeah, I know those aren't great...he's still getting to know the thing.

He even let me take a few shots:

Then we moved to see what kind of action shots we could get of Easton jumping off the stairs:

And threw the boys around a bit more:

Look at how it almost looks like Easton can really fly, or is at least stuck to the ceiling:

He's pretty happy about his super hero Cuddles cape:

And that, my friends, is the end of that. I need to move on to doing quite a bit of baking...gotta make muffins for tomorrow's brunch, coconut bread to give us present-opening energy before we even get to brunch, a birthday cake for Jesus, and then an appetizer to bring to tomorrow's dinner. Haven't had it before so I hope it's good!

I'm off!

Eastie can FLY!!! He is super!

Great photos, are you going to be sad to give it up? I would be!

I love the baby E shot. He had little cheekers back then.

And Dizzle is adorable as always. Merry Christmas Eve, you guys. Hope Santa is good to those boys. They've been very good this year from what I gather.

Oh, I just tried to trick Nathan with those flying pictures. At first he said, "What?! How can he DO that?" and then he started deconstructing it. "I think he's on the floor already, see those stockings?" So I showed him that the stockings were on the stairs. Then he said, "Wait a minute. They're just THROWING him, Mom. (said in a DUH tone of voice)" I tried to keep it going with, "No, they are just trying to catch him so ha can't fly away!" But he was too smart for me. LOL. But we almost fooled him.

Wow in that snickers shot of Dalton and you he looks a lot like a baby Easton to me. I have never seen the resemblance before like I do in that shot. Oh wait....duh... I just read Kyla's comment- I guess I read the blog wrong... it was Easton that got daddy's nutcracker?

And those flying shots of Easton are great. My camera sucks- I think I need to upgrade.Indoor pictures are hit or miss. Glad you guys had a nice Christmas.

Wow, I am most impressed with the action shots. That Easton is one jumping boy! I love the one where it looks like he is flying. You can tell Dalton is going to follow in big brother's footsteps. He just smiles so big when he's being thrown up in the air!

The cookies look YUM! Hope all your baking went well!
