Bed Rest

So, the doc's office called with my lab results. The blood work is still just fine but my proteinuria was the highest it's ever been so they instructed me to begin complete bedrest right then and I go back in tomorrow for a non-stress test (NST) and another appointment.

I was talking with my L&D nurse pal Kelli and she told me she'd read that, while uncommon (16% of the time), one can still have preeclampsia without the hypertension. I've certainly got the proteinuria part of things and the swelling (although that's no longer one of the offical criteria for making the diagnosis).

That's really all I know for now and I'm not "worried" because we are so far along at this point. I just stress about wanting to avoid Mag (magnesium sulfate) and all the icky CRAP that goes with it this time around. And, while Wabie is fairly cooked here at 36 1/2 weeks, I still won't be officially full term till Monday (37 weeks) and if he/she has to come before then, the hospital handles things differently.

Jason is on his way home now and my mom (and Lauren?) will be here tomorrow and we'll go from there.

Thanks for checking in!

Yes, I certainly hope that NO MAG is involved this time around. As you know Drew was 37 weeks exactly and came out as perfect as could be. Praying the same for Wabie!!!

Hang in there, mama. It's almost time! :)

Kristin, I am so stressed for you! Do they still treat it with Mag if your bp isn't elevated? I sincerely hope you can avoid the Mag (I still shudder at the memory!) and baby Wabie is a-okay!

Thinking of you!

Bummer! Thank goodness you're so far along at this point. I'll bet you'll be mag-free as long as your BP stays low and you are contraction free. I've had two 37 weekers myself - one totally ready and one just needed a brief NICU stint for wet lungs. (Difference between vaginal birth & c-section, goes to show you, I guess.) I hope your family pampers you for however much time is left in your pregnancy and that you'll meet this new little one soon!
