Easton's little school had a "Field Trip" to the zoo today...only it wasn't a Field Trip so much as just all the families go. And it was all the preschoolers and prekindergartners.
Even though we have a pass we showed up with everyone else thinking we might go around with some friends or something, but nope. It was pretty much gonna be a free for all. We saw our across-the-street neighbors (Ben and his family) but they were gonna go do their own thing. The school was supposed to meet up for lunch at noon but the school is a bit silly and didn't reserve a shelter or anything...so weren't we surprised to find that shelter was taken later. Truly everyone was on their own.
It was our first time to the zoo with our double stroller:
Much better than when I used to shove both kids into the single stroller.
Of course my little guys liked to walk too:
Once we got over to the Primate Panorama, my phone rang...we had talked about meeting up with Jacob and family and once they arrived we decided to meet at the carousel so we headed over there. Along the way Jacob's crew ran into another classmate so we all hooked up for a spin:
That's Tabor, Jacob, Easton (in his Diego vest), and my Diddles.
Dalton chose a tiger to sit on but Easton opted to sit with his friends:
That's Jacob on the one side and Jacob's little brother Sam on the other.
Jacob's mom (April) and Tabor squeezed in as well:
At that point Dalton started telling me he was up too high and needed me to hold on so he could be safe. :)
How cute are these little classmates?
Tabor's a lucky girl with those two cuties, eh?
She was the only girl in our group of six boys...April has three boys, I have my two, and Tabor has a little brother. But it was so fun being with all those boys. April pulled Dalton and Sam in their wagon and Sam fed Dalton fruit snacks after telling me, "I got these at Costco" ha ha! They were chatting and giggling and having a grand old time while the older kids held hands and ran ahead:
Doesn't this kinda look real? That's E on the trunk if you couldn't tell:
Our group...
That's Holten cut off on the far left (Tabor's brother that will one day be in D's class), Tim (Jacob's 7 year old brother), Tabor, Eastie, Jakey, Sam (who will also one day be in class with D and Holten), and then Dalton's little stripey shirt cut off on the right.
Dalton and Sam chatting again...and April off to the side snapping a picture of them:
The aquarium part of the zoo won't let you bring in strollers or wagons so we were all on foot and all trying to help keep track of everyone...check out little Diddles holding hands with April and Sam:
Everyone was SO well behaved, sure the 2 year olds were a little harder to get to stick with the group but I was impressed. Tim (the oldest kid) was great with everyone...Jacob just adores Dalton (more than his own brother). Tabor hung in great with all the boys. It was a really really fun day and I was so glad we hooked up with them even though it became a much more social time and less of a "check out the animals" time. We got there at 10, hooked up with the others sometime after 11, and didn't leave until at least 2.
The classmates posed before we said our goodbyes:
E picked out his tiger shirt in honor of our zoo trip himself. :)
Dalton didn't last long in the car at all...he screamed his head off while I packed up the car causing a nearby mom to comment, "We nearly overstayed as well". I told Easton to please just be really patient and let Dalton be a punk because he'd be asleep soon and it would be all better...and it was:
Dalton even stayed in the car a few minutes to snooze after we got home. And that's why this blog is so late, no real nap or quiet timing today...but it was worth it to spend that time with our friends.
We have plans to see them next week already...Jacob's been planning a summer kick-off party for awhile and so far Tabor and Easton are the only two to RSVP. I could go for a repeat of today for sure! Tabor's mom is about 7 weeks ahead of me, pregnancy-wise, and their baby's gender is going to be a surprise at delivery too!
