I've got so much to catch up on, once again. Now that Jason will be back at work come Monday, I wonder if I'll be blogging more regularly like before? Time will tell...
Right now I think I'm just going to tackle the pictures we've got by day...
First would be...
Wednesday:
I tried putting Autumn in the Moby wrap for the first time. Until then I'd only worn her in the Hotsling. Well, she's not quite used to it and instead of snuggling against me like I'd imagined, she stood up in the darn thing (like her brothers she has been able to support her body weight already):
If she's gonna do that she needs my hand there to support her head. Silly goose. Luckily there are plenty of ways to wrap your kid onto you with a Moby so we planned to try another one later.
Easton showing how his size 4 adjustable waist jeans are on the 9th button hole on either side:
And he pulls them down without unsnapping them when it's time to take them off or go potty:
Skinny!
But Mama's trying to help him with that...here we are making cookie brownie bars for that night's dessert:
Then Jason took the boys out to play in the leaves:
That night, Auntie Jess came over for a vegetarian dinner. Afterwards Easton showed off how he's starting to read. He's got a Bob book here:
Dalton just wanted to sit with her too:
Then after she left, the boys wanted me to take pictures of them posing with toys. Weirdos. But I liked all the genuine smiles I got:
Then we tried a different hold with the Moby:
I need Jason's help getting her in that particular hold and we can tuck her head in too. I liked it. When she gets a little bigger I'll feel better about putting her in some of the other holds.
The reason I "needed" to figure out a way to wear her in the Moby instead of the Hotsling was for...
Thursday:
Easton's school had their annual farm field trip. All the families go and it's the whole preschool/kindergarten program (that's why it wasn't on a typical school day). With getting 3 kids out of the house (and Autumn fed) we ended up being a tad bit late. Which is fine, plenty of people come on their own time. But we ended up needing to get a personal hayride out to meet our group:
Which also meant we had to skip over harvesting any potatoes and just meet up with everyone at the Indian corn. Oh well. We got carrots too!
And pumpkins!
There was acorn squash too. Last year we got onions, this year they must've frozen or something with the recent snow. Whatever the reason, no onions this year. :(
We're planning a pot roast and veggies with our haul...well, minus the Dalton part of this haul:
After the veggie harvesting the kids get to run amok 'round the farm. Like on this popular giant dirt pile:
See, they plan for such things:
Some swinging:
(That's our pal Tabor next to E.)
And climbing the giant haystack:
Diddles made it all the way to the top!
Some tractor fun:
This is a train, but I'm not sure what it's doing at the farm:
And some stationary ATV's with Brock on the back of E's:
At this point, noticing the clear blue sky when viewing our pictures at home we went back to check for any signs of the boy-less balloon. No, we didn't know about it at the time, but see this map?
You see smack in the middle where it says "Platteville"? That's where we were until about noon. And yes, the timing was just about right. The balloon reportedly took off at 11:01...
Anyhoo, we left the farm at noonish...as we were nearing our neighborhood I noticed a helicopter overheard and pointed it out to the boys. They like such things, of course. Then I noticed the helicopter seemed to be searching for something and said so to Jason...as in, "Oh great, that's just what you want over your neighborhood...a search helicopter". In hindsight I believe it was a media chopper who had yet to locate the balloon. It was 12:35 before the giant Jiffy Pop was spotted in the skies and beamed live to all your television sets. I didn't find out about all the hullabaloo till naptime and I sat to check in on Facebook. Then I was following the story as best I could without turning on the news in front of Easton. What a ride, eh?
Anyhoo, once Falcon was "found" the boys opened up a Halloween package from The Maws:
And check out the adorable little hat they sent for Miss A:
Anyway, the stickers the boys got in their package reminded J that he's been wanting to use up some of the temporary tattoos the boys have amassed...so that's what they did next:
Is it wrong that I'm always impressed by Easton's abs? They're so defined.
While I photographed my festive Autumn girl:
We went out to run errands really late in the afternoon and came home for meatloaf sandwiches...the boys had a Happy Meal. It's rare that Easton requests chicken and well, I didn't have time to make any that late in the day...kinda sad, huh?
That night I bathed the boys and Dalton insisted on washing off all his new tattoos. Goob. Easton also decided to tell me out of the blue, "Mom, you're not the funnest but you're the snuggliest." Um, okay.
So that brings us to...
Friday:
The night before, Easton wanted to pick out a "handsome shirt" to wear to school. He's got a thing for a few of the ladies in his class. He's sure winning my heart:
While Handsome was at school, Dalton helped me do a workout DVD. He knew I'd run to put on shoes...he had to do the same. And here we are stretching:
In the afternoon, Autumn and I went to my OB appointment. I learned I'm still anemic (I haven't stopped taking my iron from pregnancy) and I also had to get a shot. It's been awhile since I've had a tetanus shot and the DTaP includes pertussis (whooping cough) so they apparently recommend that for new moms going into this pertussis season. I was fine with that. The nurse poked herself with the needle right before she was going to stick me and it took her a minute to register what had happened before she went, "Oh! I need to go get a new needle!" Um, yeah you do!!! Yikes.
We went to Cracker Barrel for dinner Friday night and Easton ordered and ate half a piece of catfish. Who is this child?!?! Asking for chicken on Thursday and super excited to order fish on Friday? I'll take it!
Saturday:
Our festive offspring this morning:
Then after breakfast we got ready to go down the road to check out a firetruck that was coming to visit. Our neighbor across the street is a realtor and as some publicity strategery she arranged for a truck to come out for the neighborhood to check out. Only problem was, when we got there: no truck. And no people either except for our neighbor trying to figure out where the truck was. Eventually it came and since no one else was there, our boys got to check it out as much as they wanted:
Dalton's wearing the boots with the suspender pants tucked inside:
In the "officers chair":
Eventually a few other families wandered through but our boys weren't ready to leave. They made friends:
That's our neighbor Cooper with my boys (Ben's little brother).
Me trying to be creative--and failing:
It was a nicely timed visit as Easton just learned some fire safety in school this week too. He told me about the ol' "stop, drop, and roll" technique and also said that he learned if you were in a fire and the firemen didn't know where you were you could throw some small toys out your window--but not your little brother. :) Before we'd even gotten around to leaving, the captian took a call that there was a fire they needed to go to...so they closed up the rig (suprisingly quickly!) and were on their way, lights and sirens going. For us, it was a perfect ending...not so much for the people needing help, I'm sure. But what fun for our boys on a Saturday morning.
The rest of the day was spent with Jason doing some prep for his poker party he's hosting as I type. And also waiting on a Craigslister who never showed. Boo!
Okay, that's finally everything...till next time!

What a FABULOUS weeekend (rare) blog. Wow! Moo
Fire Safety week...I've been hearing (and seeing) lots about fire safety around here, too. They are so cute, sharing their newfound knowledge. KayTar came home wanting to be a "fighter-fighter". Don't think she's gonna have the gross motor skills for that, but a girl can dream. LOL.
Looks like a fun little week/weekend!
I am just loving the festive halloween pics of the kids- sooo cute!
How cool that you had your own private fire truck for a few minutes, lol. Cam would have thought that was the coolest thing EVER!
