It's a Good Thing She's So Cute...

Photobucket
...because her bedtimes are about to drive me crazy!

She goes to sleep fine during the day, just fine. And we follow a pretty good routine without being crazy strict about it. We try to do the same thing at bedtime each night but so far, nothing is working well to get her to fall asleep each night. She stays awake for hours upon hours.

Last night I nursed her around 7 and then went about with what she does during the day...a diaper change (and p.j.'s), some awake time, then the swaddle and some pacifier to settle down into sleep. But the sleep never comes. She might get a little dozy but it never lasts. I nursed her again at 9:15 because she'd been up for so long and I was trying anything. At 9:30 she and I headed up to bed...at 11:00 I brought her back down to hang out with Jason because she still was not asleep but I wanted to be.

I don't know when she finally fell asleep for good. He brought her up to the Pack & Play at some point and she slept till she wanted to eat at about 3:30. That part she does great with--the going awhile between feedings at night...it's the being asleep for most of it part that she's not so good at.

And, of course, she's just like her brothers in that she wakes up after her first sleep cycle is over...so far we're usually able to get her back to sleep but oh how I wish we didn't have to intervene each time.

Luckily, having done this twice before I'm well aware that this too shall pass, and all too quickly! :(

*gasp* on the pink tutu...so glad to see you are enjoying your girl! Yes, the sleep issues will pass (you remember my posts a few months back I'm sure) she settle into a reliable schedule in just a few short weeks. At least you have Jason on paternity leave to cover the late shift in the meantime.

Did you ever find out just how late her night was? It's great that Jason will handle the late shift, but I know it'd be ideal for her to have an earlier bedtime. I'm sure she'll get it all figured out soon. At least it's better than going to sleep at 8ish and waking up for the day at 3 am, right?

okay that picture is precious!!

Gabby goes through little phases like that still but for the most part, she does well.

Glad dad was able to relieve you! Hoping tonight is a better night for you all!

KayTar used to be up (and usually crying inconsolably) from about 10:30-3am...I don't miss those early months. We did, however, discover Dharma and Greg thanks to get horrible nights, so that is something. LOL. She has always been our night owl.

I hope it gets easier, but in the meantime having her stay up with J seems like a good alternative.
