My 2 Week Well-Baby

I took Autumn in for her 2 week well check today. She was 7 pounds, 9 ounces at birth and 16 days later she is 8 pounds, 8 ounces. However, if you look at it since her last weight check (that Saturday when she was 7 pounds, 7 ounces being seen for her jaundice) then she's gained quite well. Over an ounce a day (1.25 ounces/day!). I always knew I made good milk. My babies grow pretty darn well when they're exclusively breastfed, it's once we introduce "baby food" at 6 months that they start falling off charts and such.

Autumn is 50th percentile for just about everything...height and weight, her head is currently 55th percentile. We had no concerns. Her cord is still on and after Dr. Groovy looked at it, it sounds like we've still got "a ways to go" before it falls off. Not sure what her and Dalton's deal is with holding on to their cords for so long. I'm ready to give her a real bath but oh well. She's growing up too quickly as it is. I know, she's only 2.5 weeks old but somehow because I want her babyhood to go the slowest as she's our last, it's actually going faster than it did with either boy. :(

However, she seems the most newborny of the kids too. Even at 7 weeks premature, Easton was always a superstar with the physical milestones. He wowed his nurses with his head and neck control when he was still in the incubator! He was rolling over purposefully before his due date! Dalton had decent head control too for being such a chunk. Autumn, however, is content to just lay around for now. So I gave her something pretty to look at:

Herself!

Dalton thought this was a fine idea...

Till she got a little drowsy and he went running to find her pacifier:

And plugged her up:

I forgot to mention that Tuesday afternoon--after Lauren left and after naps/Q.T. I actually took the 3 kids to the library:
Photobucket

It was good for the boys to get to socialize with other kids there for a bit...well except for the kid that pushed Dalton for no reason and his dad didn't do much except say, "Why did you push him? Go tell him you're sorry" and then not making him follow through or anything. Grrrr. But they had fun and got some new books. Easton is checking out this "Dinosaurs Unleashed" book that AJ told us about. It is a Christian account of the dinos.

On Wednesday (yesterday), Easton had school in the morning as I'd mentioned. This is when we came home from Wal-Mart to unload our groceries. Dalton is quite the handwasher. He spends a great deal of time on this which is actually very frustrating:
Photobucket

Then again, with a baby in the house we want him to be clean. Especially because he likes to get up in her face and say, "Hey cutie cutie cutie" which sounds more like "cootie" when he says it:

In the afternoon my guys helped me to make a chocolate chip pie for dessert:

Aunt Jess was coming over for dinner and she arrived while we were still assembling so she can attest that Dalton did this (arm around E) when the camera wasn't even out:
Photobucket

And little Autumn got a little box of goodies the other day from our friends Sheree and Gabby. This cute little strawberry outfit was in there:
Photobucket
She doesn't have a bow to match that outfit...we need to work on our hair accessory library.

And Dalton wanted to take a picture of me and Autumn before he headed up to bed:
Photobucket

Looking at that picture makes me realize even more how she just does not look like us yet. She's so dark!

But she still fits in just fine...here she is in D's bed listening to songs and stories at bedtime last night:

09/09/09

Today could've been the day. Well, who knows...obviously things happened the way they were supposed to happen regarding Autumn/"Wabie" and her birthday. No way would I have spent all this time still on bed rest.

I didn't tell the blog this yet, but the morning I went in for my C-section I was having regular contractions all the way there and the 3 hours I was on the monitor before she was born. They weren't painful but they weren't painless either. At that point they were only about every 6 minutes (gotta start somewhere!) but it had my OB and my nurse thinking I might've been ramping up to go into labor on my own anyway. We shall never know...

Anyway...lots to cover from the holiday weekend...

Jason actually went into work for a bit on Friday afternoon. The three kids and I stayed home, two of 'em napped for a large chunk of the time J was gone so it was none too bad at all. Jason even stopped at the grocery store on the way home and I managed it all just fine. I was pretty sure I'd be okay anyway. :)

Saturday Jason had a not-so-little project. Since we weren't going to see him all day we all went out to breakfast first. This was our second meal out as the "party of five" our family now is. It's still fun to walk in and have them go, "...for the five of you?" :) But after breakfast Jason bid us adieu:

And then he went to work transforming the closet in the boys room. First he had to take all the original parts out:
Photobucket

And then he put in new parts:

Now Dalton's clothes can fit in their room too and the closet in the "nursery" can now be used for Autumn's slowly growing wardrobe.

While Jason DIY'ed, the boys and I Floamed:

Easton made a triceratops, apparently:
Photobucket

And Dalton kept saying, "Yook what I made!" and then you'd ask, "What is it?" and in an amazed voice he'd go, "I don't know!"
Photobucket

I made a pig to start:

And helped the boys with other stuff:
Photobucket

Photobucket

It was fun...thanks to AJ and her crew for sending that our way! Jason was terrified when he saw it as it is a bunch of tiny foam balls that he was sure would be messy messy...but it actually feels like non-sticky Rice Krispie treats...sticks to itself but not to you. Interesting!

While the boys and I did that, Autumn did this:
Photobucket
As usual. She's a sleeper.

In fact, that night, she was so sound asleep that I left her with Jason and went to bed without her. I brought him jammies and a diaper for her and all that and told him to bring her up when she got hungry. But I snapped a pic of them before I left. They're snuggling in to watch the first college game of the season...LSU (who won!). I like how Jason is subconsciously telling us "We're #1":

Sunday we did church again and Miss A got to wear another pretty summer outfit from Gramoo:
Photobucket

Sunday was also my sister Jessica's 29th birthday (the first one) and she proposed we all meet up at a little amusement park in the foothills called Heritage Square so we left straight from church to drive there:
Photobucket

We arrived a little early and everyone else arrived a little late so we had some time to kill:

Eventually everyone else showed up and Moosie treated us all to lunch. It started raining a bit but the gang was undeterred. Autumn and I found a place to park ourselves out of the rain and she and I hung out while everyone else went riding the rides:

When the rain stopped Autumn and I caught up with the group for a bit to watch:

Everyone else then went up the mountain to ride the alpine slide so Autumn and I got a funnel cake. Since she was in the sling she ended up wearing a fair amount of powdered sugar.

When the rest of the party came back down the mountain they spotted a zip line and my little daredevil wanted to do it, of course. He did it while we the rest of us looked on and then Dalton surprised us by wanting a turn too!

Photobucket

They did that quite a few times and Janna would catch them at the end there. We knew that was Easton's thing but were pleased to see Dalton being brave enough now too!

After the zip lining was over everyone else was jealous I'd had a funnel cake so they went to order some too. The boys also picked out some ice cream bites and discovered they were quite cold!
Photobucket

But finger lickin' good!
Photobucket

Even though I hadn't been riding anything, the amount of walking I'd done was enough to make me start getting pretty sore in the ol' surgical area so I needed to call it a day. We stopped at a few rides on the way out (Dalton got denied the ferris wheel for being too short, poor guy) and then hit the car. Dalton crashed pretty quickly and when we got home we just tried to be real mellow. I laid Autumn on the couch so I could hold Dalton after an owie and she just stayed there asleep all evening:
Photobucket

Monday was Autumn's due date and she was therefore two weeks old. She wanted to be fancy in a cute dress from Gramoo:
Photobucket

And pose with her "Autumn Hugs" Build a Bear.
Photobucket

And she didn't want to be left alone while the rest of us ate a pancake breakfast:
Photobucket

Look how she's got a few curls:

Her brothers working on a puzzle:
Photobucket
Easton's sort of getting over the whole puzzle thing. Dalton still likes them but doesn't do them non-stop like he did a few weeks back. Partly its because they've done the ones we have so much already. They're still excited about this newer Noah's Ark puzzle from JessicaTFH and her family.

Monday night we invited my mom and Lauren over for dinner and ate outside at the table Moo gave me for my birthday:
Photobucket

We even brought Autumn's swing outside to join us:
Photobucket

Then on Tuesday we got to see Lauren again (3 days in a row!). As Jason is back at work now (and through next week) my mom volunteered her to lend me a hand. I took her up on watching the boys while Autumn and I went to my 2 week follow-up at my OB. She played with the boys and fed them lunch and held Autumn while I got Dalton down for his nap:
Photobucket

Until today (Wednesday) I haven't had to do too much of this "three kid thing" all by myself yet. But today Easton had school so I had to get four of us dressed (and me showered!) and out the door to get E to school for 8:00. E ate breakfast in the car and Autumn and Dalton and I ate when we got home but we did it! Then A, D, and I went to Wal-Mart. We're gonna be okay! :)

A Few Random Pictures and Such

I noticed I still had these in my Photobucket account, but hadn't put them on the blog yet.

This is from when Easton and I made oatmeal scotchies sometime last week...
Photobucket
My favorite part was secretly eating the dough. I don't let my kids consume raw eggs and I don't let myself do it when pregnant but now that I'm not...send all brownie and cookie batter my way! Yum yum!

Send those beers my way too!
Photobucket
If you recall, beer was my biggest pregnancy craving. I don't have that craving anymore but it's still been nice to have the occasional beer (I've had two now) or a glass of wine (I've had one). Before you get all, "But she's breast feeding!!!" Relax. I endorse the Kellymom.com philosophies.

Anyway...here's Dalton making sure we still notice he's around:
Photobucket
Just kidding...he was looking for something in the bottom of the toy box.

And Miss A in her "Wonderbread" sleeper from Kaiya:

And another dear pal sent some awesome hair clips her way:

Those brothers can't seem to leave her alone...they just adore her:

And each other too!

Gosh, I just love our family!!! :)
