Dalton seems to have turned a corner and is on his way back towards normal. Although he still had a dry diaper at 6:45 this morning, he asked for milk and I gave him Pedialyte. He guzzled about 2 ounces, rolled over, and went back to sleep and when he woke up he'd had a tiny wet diaper.
I called the doctor's office since he's still not producing anywhere close to normal amounts of wet diapers (the phone nurse told me they like to see 3-4/24 hours) but when they called back she said only if it's been 24 hours should I worry. So that's my new plan.
But Dalton started drinking. I was offering pretty much whatever clear fluids I could. The tiny straw of the CapriSun appealed to him at first and he drank a bunch before throwing it on the ground and refusing another sip:
Pick a sip, any sip...
Thank goodness for the boys' copy cat game where they both take a long sip:
And then say, "Ahhhh!" in unison:
Dalton even ate a little bit of banana and crackers:
And finished it off with a mini popsicle for some extra fluids:
With Dalton doing better my mom proposed an outing to the aquarium...a way to get out of the house and do something, but not be too active so that Dalton could just sit back and relax and not push himself too much:
But Easton was needing to get out of the house and get some energy out:
I hadn't been to that aquarium for probably 8 years or so. My boys had never been and it was a nice time:
Jessica and Lauren came too. We discovered Jessica has a fear of eels:
And Eastie was afraid of this shark, but not as much if Lauren was with him:
Actually Easton got a little freaked out by quite a few things after awhile, like the fake flood they had, or the fake rattlesnake, or some sea urchin stuck to the glass that apparently he thought was Nemo's head. He wasn't liking being near it:
It's rather unlike him to be scared of things like that. Maybe because I was with Dalton more than I was with him? I dunno. He wasn't all scared, he liked sticking his head up in the bubble under one of the giant tanks to look around:
He was afraid of this fake orangutan:
As much as that boy loves monkeys and thinks he is one, it was weird to see him kinda scared like that.
Everyone but me:
Because no aquarium would be complete without a tiger:
Easton said, "I need to show that to my dad!"
The touch tank where Easton never did get to feel a ray:
I made him stop because he kept splashing and I feel like that torments the sea creatures.
Instead he got a Batman airbrushed on him:
We went to the aquarium's restaurant even though none of us really eat seafood. It's one of those kinds of places where the entire walls of the restaurant are giant fish tanks so it was fun scenery. Lauren's new boyfriend came and met us over lunch. And Dalton drank quite a lot of Bubba's lemonade and ate too! He had bread and a couple of crackers and more macaroni than Easton did (although that wasn't hard to do!). What a fun treat, thank you Moosie!
E crashed just a minute or two away from home:
He's still napping now in his room. I'll let him go an hour.
Dalton's napping too. His nap was 3 hours late and he didn't even want to rock first. I sat in his chair to rock with him but he just asked for his bed and I never heard from him again.
I should probably get them up before too long so they'll go to sleep tonight.
But anyway, that's your D update and our day.

Mr. Sickie-Poo
I was on the phone with Jason about how pathetic poor Diddles was acting and walked in to find him sitting in his booster. Jason felt so awful that we were only supposed to be offering clear fluids all day and during our discussion I mentioned banana and Dalton heard and said he wanted some so Jason talked me into giving him some:
He ate the tiniest amount. Easton was sitting next to him and I saw E offering bites to his baby brother to help out. Awwww.
This is the same amount of cracker he started with:
Didn't want his water either:
I got him to take a few sips of Pedialyte right when he woke from his nap because he was parched, recognized the cup and took a few swallows before the taste registered with him. After that I probably only got another sip or two in him all day. He's had one wet diaper in more than 24 hours. If things don't pick up drinking-wise, then I'm thinking an IV might be in order. :( If he wasn't just at the doctor today I might be thinking an IV was past in order.
He's so un-Diddlesey right now. Just laying around and all. He got up from his nap and layed on me or near me or with pillows on his head while the 3 of us watched Dumbo in the big bed. We came back downstairs and after his "snack" he did more of the same: laying around.
He's not even caring about watching the TV:
Because it was just too hard to get all the way up:
He made it up again:
And back down under the couch:
And eventually over to the other couch:
When he heard Jason come home, normally he rushes to the door but instead he continued laying on the floor and merely said, "Daddy". Jason fed D a few Sun Chips with dinner. He wouldn't take anything else but we did get him to join us in drinking some water. That was good. We offered some Jell-O for dessert, he didn't want any of that either. None of us do. Jell-O...ICK!
Instead we retreated into the family room again where he laid on the floor with toys. He dumped part of the bucket of pretend food over his head and laid in it.
My poor, poor guy. I really hope none of the rest of us get this...it's hard just to watch sweet D go through it!
The Weekend
I'm just glad our weekend calamities waited until after the holidays to strike. Ugh.
On Christmas Day we guessed that one of our neighbors must've gotten a new baby monitor for Christmas because suddenly something is interferring with ours causing a constant high pitched squeal. On Christmas night and the night after Jason and I simply slept with our door open and hoped we'd hear the kids if they needed us.
Well, we didn't.
When I went in to get Dalton in the morning it was clear he'd thrown up multiple times throughout the night. We felt totally awful. He was so sick and lethargic, the poor guy. He got to have a bath right away and his little tummy roundness was gone. He was looking so pale and frail. Very sad and I was still feeling just awful we had no idea he'd yakked at all.
At breakfast we stuck with the safe B.R.A.T. foods and water:
He didn't eat much at all but certainly pouted over not being allowed any of the Cocoa Pebbles Daddy and Bubba were enjoying:
He still seemed ill. He was clingy all day. However, Easton and I had plans: a play date. No seriously, we went to an actual play. We got all matchy for our date. Here I am in one of my new purchases from the day before:
Easton and I headed to go see:
He got a little antsy towards the end but mostly we enjoyed the short show and then we headed out for a special lunch together at his favorite Noodles. We also stopped for a new baby monitor. We got the cheapest one that still had 2 receivers and then headed home.
Dalton was napping. He'd had some episodes of dry heaving while we were out. :( But he was getting some rest. He woke up to join us and just snuggled and cuddled all afternoon:
While we watched Bubs box on the Wii:
Poor, sweet boy:
Turns out our new monitor isn't going to work--unless we want to spy on the neighbors, that is. Bummer. We dealt with the squeal all night while we slept and Dalton made it through okay.
He still seemed lethargic but mostly better the next morning. We let him have milk and whatever food he was hungry for. Jason went to church while the boys and I ran errands. We got home and waited for my cousin Robbie to come over to record some music with Jason.
They played in our soon-to-be finished basement for a bit:
After quiet time Easton wanted to join them:
Dalton just wanted to watch:
Unfortunately they couldn't record because our computer crashed!!! Ack! We don't know what, if anything will be recoverable. It's our main desktop and I'm a little freaked out over it all, a lot of stuff is backed up elsewhere because everyone knows computers crash, but still...you're only as safe as your last backup. Plus it'll take some time, and my laptop screen is falling apart now too and what else can go wrong???
Plenty.
After the guys came up from the basement we were sitting around chatting, I was organizing coupons, the Wii was on. Then out of nowhere Dalton yakked on the carpet. Robbie was unfazed.
Later we insisted on Robbie and my aunt Robin (who came to pick him up) staying for dinner. Then Dalton yakked again. Quick clean up and back to where we left off: dinner. It was all ready. Chicken sandwiches with onion and provolone. Sitting on a plate on the counter. All that was missing was drinks. We were going to have sparkling cider and Jason reached up for a wine glass and one fell and shattered all over the counter...and food!!! Ack!!!
Nothing (except the french fries on the other counter) was salvagable. So we sent our guests home empty-tummied. Oh no. Jason ate the fries for dinner. I had plans later so I did without food for a bit.
Bedtime went okay other than Dalton still feeling sickly and clingy and Easton getting so tired that he could no longer listen properly and was feeling extremely testy. But after all that and E's time-out things were good.
J stayed here with the boys to watch the Broncos lose and be done for the season and also to start looking into the computer issues. I went out with my sisters to meet Jessica's girlfriend. We were going to meet at Starbucks but it had already closed so instead we met for milkshakes. Isn't that fun?
We had a nice evening and then I came home.
This morning (Monday) Dalton seemed fine so I let him have his morning milks. We ran out for doughnuts and I was feeling all cute in a new top, new earrings, and a new scarf:
But the second we walked in the door with our box of doughnuts, Dalton projectile vomited all over me and himself. :( I cleaned up and then I put in a call to the phone nurse. This seems just too long for a simple tummy bug.
We got into our doughnuts and the phone nurse called back. Dalton's been having really minimal amounts of wet diapers and the phone nurse told me it sounded like I should take him to the E.R. for an IV. Ummmm, no. He's had a single wet diaper today since sometime yesterday but still, I'm not ready to head to the ER for no IV, people. If I was really worried he was dangerously dehydrated then of course I'd be on my way. But he's drinking some and so he'll pee more. He will.
Instead she asked the doctor to see us and she agreed so we headed up there to be squeezed in before lunch. She didn't send us to the ER. Fully clothed Dalton was 22 pounds 4.5 ounces. That's a gain, though, because at 18 months he was 21 pounds, 13 ounces. So that was good to see, at least. She checked Diddles over, thinks it's just a longer lasting virus and that Easton would probably be next (fun!). Especially with the way he was acting. E was on his absolute worst behavior from the second we walked into the building. I have no idea what it was about but he had me thoroughly embarassed and I was getting such looks from people--they see kids all the time and I was still getting looks. That's how over the top awful he was. He wasn't even the patient!!! I have no clue what got into him and although he calmed down while we were with the doctor he was horrid for a spell. HORRID.
As we walked out he said nicely, "What about a sticker?" A nurse overheard and jumped up with a "Oh, you guys want stickers?" and I was loudly all, "No buddy, stickers are for people that do good and you were not good today, remember?" Suprisingly he was okay with that and we went on our way where he's been completely super ever since. We went to the grocery store for Pedialyte and Jell-O since Dalton is not supposed to have any dairy for the next week (or at least a few days). That's gonna be tricky. Easton wore Sippy the puppet on his hand and was so funny as Sippy and friendly and helpful. He was great at home while I got D down for his nap, we had mega-fun at lunch:
We practiced writing his name after lunch. The "S" trips him up. But I have to work with how to properly hold the pen with him. And he doesn't understand writing all the letters left to right, right next to one another yet. But he can do all the other letters and we do it "properly" where you only capitalize the first letter of his name. Apparently writing names in all caps is a hard habit to break and teachers ask that you teach them the "right" way from the start so that's always been our plan. He can do the lowercase just as easily as uppercase...that S is tricky no matter upper or lowercase. :)
E's in his quiet time now, we're about to watch Dumbo together now that I've got Dalton down again. He woke up miserable after just half an hour. You can tell he just feels so crummy. Nothing is helping him. It's so sad. I wish he wasn't feeling so yucky. He's refusing water but maybe once he wakes up he'll be willing to drink some sips of water or Pedialyte and lets hope he keeps it down.
I'm afraid to go out. I had to pack extra clothes for us for the doctor's visit. But we need to grocery shop but that just doesn't seem fair to do to him right now, does it?
Anyway, that's the scoop from here. It's a Monday indeed.

The Day After Christmas
We hung out and checked out our new stuff much of the morning, playing the Wii:
And E's Leapster:
Dalton took advantage of our preoccupation with the Wii to go up and play with Bubba's toys some more:
After awhile I got ready in a new Christmas shirt that Jason was looking forward to seeing on me...
...and I took Dalton out to run some errands with me in the morning. We needed batteries for Robbie the Robot and Dalton badly needed a new filter for his humidifier.
Easton and J played more Wii and such whilst we were out:
He's a great Wii boxer.
When we got home with the batteries E was able to check out their new robot:
Dalton looked on (and enjoyed it!) while he ate his lunch:
When the boys went in for nap and Q.T., my sister came by to pick me up for a shopping outing.
I need her trendy influence when it comes to picking out new stuff. She had me shopping quite a bit in the Kohl's juniors section which was fun and I got quite a lot of stuff. Hooray! I still look like a mom, just less frumpy more up-to-date stuff to mix in with my old frumpy stuff. :)
Then we moved on to shoes at DSW. I am even cheaper than I realized when we were shopping in the clearance section and it still felt too pricey:
I bought these but I'm still not sure about them, a lot of it has to do with price:
Looking at these...
...Jessica was all, "obviously you'll wear these for awhile and get your money's worth". 'Tis true, those black Sketchers are from probably my sophomore or junior year of college. I suck. Those are shoes I'm trying to replace too, however.
Next we moved over to look at glasses. Jason thinks I would be cute as "funky glasses girl" on the rare occasions I wear glasses. So Jessica helped me out with that:
Jason's not thinking any of them are fitting his idea of "funky" too much. Boo. I guess I'm just not thinking I can pull it off, or even that I necessarily want to. I like most of the ones I'm modeling above. I guess I'll have to bring J with me when I actually go buy some. Or maybe not. I'm the one that wears them although I do still try to impress my husband and wear things he likes as long as I don't hate them.
When I got home I uploaded a ton of pictures from Jessica's camera which took forever and then the boys, Jason, and I went out to look for a new tree topper on clearance. Couldn't find one. So instead we bought a pizza, an extra Wii controller (it only came with one) and came home.
The end.
