Happy Christmas Eve!

Yesterday afternoon my sister Jessica stopped by. She's in town again for the holiday and she came over for a very boring visit. My children were completely wild for some reason and then we had another contractor over for an estimate on the basement so she was rudely roped into baby wrangling. We didn't even have any dinner to serve her. We're awful. Sory, Jess!

Today being Christmas Eve started off like any other day: TV shows while cuddling in the big bed. But after awhile we switched gears, got ready, and headed down to Gramoo's for a Christmas Eve brunch. It's become one of my favorite traditions. I certainly love brunchy foods and it's nice to spread out the festivities by doing it the day before Christmas. On years when we've tried to do it all on Christmas day it gets to be too much. Too much rushing through Christmas morning at our house, too much of Grammy having to rush off to start Christmas dinner... This works much better for us although we didn't get to see the whole extended family which is a bummer.

We weren't bummed for long, though, because after we ate, Gramoo whipped out a present for the boys. It's a combo gift for the two of them and also for their birthdays too and maybe high school graduation...I don't know. Anyhoo, you might guess that it was a big gift:

However, Dalton was immediately much more interested in the McMickey shortbread cookies adorning the top of the gift:

He couldn't even be bothered to pose with my lovely sisters:

Easton made us all laugh after he asked what a sign on the package meant. It was one of these:

But with the way he reacted it's almost like he thought that was the gift, "Mommy! It's a team lift!!!"

Finally they got it out of the box and got to sit in the frame of their new golf cart!

My sweet, confused Diddlebug always seems to think you sit where your feet go. If you'll remember, he does that on Chuck E. Cheese rides too.

Easton was uncharacteristically selfish regarding the shared gift:

It's gonna be awhile to get it put together:

Especially after a couple of mistakes that required some backtracking and extra pairs of hands:

Eastie busied himself with Jess and Lauren for a bit as well as snacks with Gramoo:

And D and Gramoo had a miniature tea party:

They watched a little Buzz On Demand:

And finally they were ready to take 'er for a spin!

Forget Buzz Lightyear, I think Gramoo is the hero of the day.

Just look at these faces:

Gramoo drives a golf cart on Field Day at her school so she has that special "bond" with the boys and had a hankering to do this for them. We're hoping next May, E will be able to drive his little golf cart around next to hers. Although he loves that big golf cart too.

He told me that the next time we need to go buy food to tell him and he'll just drive his little golf cart. It kinda makes me sad to have to tell him he can't. I told him we could drive it other places but that it didn't have seat belts or doors and couldn't go on a real big road with the rest of the big cars. :(

They'll just have to make do.

I'd say Gift #1 of the season was a huge hit!

Thank you, Gramoo!

And a very Merry Christmas to all my readers! God bless!

What a cool gift!

I love the idea of getting together with a small group of family for brunch on Christmas Eve. We may have to see about doing that next year. We also feel that too much business gets put in on Christmas day overstimulating the kids, which is why we have chosen to stay home tomorrow as a family and then have my parents and brother's family over on New Years Day. Of course, now I am starting to feel like I am going to miss out, but this is what I chose, so I must deal.

I laughted out loud about D sitting where feet go, because Elsie does the same thing at Chuck E Cheese.

Awesome!! Last night we had Christmas with my parents and sister's family, tonight we have dinner at the ILs and my parents spend the night so they can be with the kids in the morning, then we go to the ILs again for presents. WHEW!
