I'm unofficially taking part in this little challenge in honor of October being Down Syndrome Awareness month.
My online friend Sheree is mommy to the beautiful princess Gabby who happens to have Trisomy 21. I know I blog darn near daily anyway, but not always...so for the 31 days of October it is my goal to do a post every day. 31 for (Trisomy) 21.
And here's #1...
So here is what my title is referring to today:
That came in my mail yesterday. Up until a few weeks ago I likely would've tossed it straight into the trash...but not now that I'm becoming a couponista. Double coupons up to $2 in value!?!? That is HUGE, people.
I started looking through the accompanying sale flier to plan my trip:
And then I rifled through my new coupon folder. The problem was that I haven't been clipping coupons for long. And many of the coupons I do have are printed from online. Well, KMart wasn't letting you use printables. And of course they had to be $2 in value or less. So I pulled what I did have and ended up saving $22.40 in coupons alone...$45.18 total with the coupons in combination with the sales they had going on. Not too shabby although I still feel like a total amateur when I read that someone who reads the blog I read somehow had a total of $170 before coupons and then after all her coupons only ended up owing $24.00. Doesn't even seem possible to get $170 worth of stuff for so little when they only double coupons up to $2. Oh well.
I was bummed because I saw Tyson chicken was on sale for basically $1 a pound...but they only had wings left. And we don't eat wings. Maybe I'll have to check back in a day or two...
The boys were mostly good during our long trip although at one point Easton started trying to gag himself so he'd throw up. For that he lost the privledge of later going to "play toys" in the toy department when I was done.
We got home and had a really simple lunch. Easton had cheese and crackers and a fruit leather. Diddles and I had hummus and crackers and a fruit leather. After quiet time in his room Easton's got "Dora Saves the Snow Princess" free from Redbox waiting for him.
Oh, and I never did share their latest art projects. This one is Dalton's where he had much help and much reassembly after he'd break it apart:
And this one is Easton's, the robot isn't glued down because he likes to play with it and make it walk around:
I guess that's really it. Keep Jason in your thoughts tonight as he is presenting his capstone project to his school this evening. After tonight he's got to present it professionally at a conference next month and then he's done with all the work for his Master's. I'm so proud of him!

Are you being a "couponista" all on your own or are a part of a website that helps you out? I just joined Coupon Sense and after cutting all my coupons this afternoon and making up my shopping list, I will be making my 1st shopping trip tomorrow with all my coupons. I am anxious to see how much I save.
One of the things that my rep told me, is to get at least 6 of the same coupons and buy those items when they are on sale. Like tomorrow, I will be getting 3 toothpastes for 99 cents each.
You guys have the coolest art projects. They did a great job.
Good luck J. Knock em' out!
Okay, I am officially loving the new coupon savvy you! I am going to learn so much from your thrifty shopping ...and for that my husband thanks you ;) Keep those tips coming.
Okay, I got so excited that I can't remember anything else.
I suck at coupons. I'm sure it would do us good, but even thinking about it gives me a headache.
Love the robot and surfer! Great work, guys!
Hope everything went really, really well for Jason tonight!
Would you believe I've never even been to our K-Mart? lol
dude, I totally need to get back into being a "couponista." I need those deals!
Love the art projects ;)
Good luck to Jason! WTG on being almost done with everything. That is awesome!
Good job! Keep plugging away at the coupon deals, and you will see huge savings. If you haven't already, check out www.hotcouponworld.com; it's the best (IMO) coupon and deals site out there!
Details of what I got from Kmart this week are in my blog.
