Wednesday's Words

Ya'll didn't think I'd let the whole DAY be "Wordless", did ya? Nah, not me! :)

Let's go back to yesterday...I called it a "Tired Tuesday", didn't I?

Perhaps that was his way of dealing with his anxiety on his way to get his "poke"?

Not Diddles, he had no clue:

So, our first stop was at J's office with our tin of cookies. Easton was so cute. He was so personable and kept focus on the task at hand (that he had given himself) which was to distribute a cookie to all the hungry men and women of Microsoft. We didn't have long before we had to be at D's appointment and E just went from office to office offering up cookies. He had no time to chat, he'd give the cookies and say, "C'mon Dad...let's go give some more cookies" as he'd head out into the hall again. I'm thrilled to announce that I didn't eat a single cookie! I saved two for the boys for after their labs were drawn, though.

We left Microsoft and headed across town to Dalton's doctor's appointment. He'd been having some blood on his stools. Not much...I assumed it was a fissure and called to ask the doctor about starting Benefiber. However the doctor wanted to see him and his bum-oley first so we went in. Sure enough, she thinks it's a fissure. Which she pronounces "fisher". Easton went, "A fish?!?!" We laughed because that's totally funny, am I right? He knew Dalton was having owie, bloody poops and to think it was a fish causing it is rather amusing, no? I mean, how'd he get a fish in his bungalow???

Whaddya know...she recommended MiraLax or Benefiber. And hydrocortisone cream. We already have Benefiber so we're gonna go with that...still need to maybe get some hydrocortisone, though. Maybe it's on sale at Walgreens??? :)

After his appointment we then headed over to the hospital where they draw the blood. Easton was being so very brave. In fact, when we were still at home I asked him if he wanted to bring his Cuddles for his poke and he said, "Nah, I'll be brave." And he was. We had a long wait where the boys played with the toys in the lab and Easton made sure I still planned to hold him when it was time. And asked "will you snuggle me?" once while we were waiting. But otherwise you'd never know he was nervous. I'd decided to have him go first so when it was time Dalton sat in our new stroller and Easton sat on my lap in the chair. He didn't fight at all, he unfortunately knows what to expect. He cried and flinched when the needle actually went in but overall he did great. I hate that he's had so much experience with such things. Stupid anemia.

Jason showed up at that point (work was over and his office is across the street) so he came back and got E and then it was Diddles' turn. And that poor kid in his 19 months already knows what to expect too. :( As soon as he was on my lap with his sleeves pushed up he started doing his "Hoo hoo hoo" cry in anticipation of the pain. He told them, "All done! All done!" But no...they were just getting started. They did not have much luck with their first stick. They had to wiggle and dig and fish for the vein that they never did end up finding. So we had to switch arms. It's no fun. But we're done till the rechecks. Dalton's was actually not to check his former anemia...it was for some stuff that was all wonky when he had his non-broken leg in June. Hopefully it's resolved as well because then I'm gonna feel real bad that I waited all these months to recheck it. Edited to add...I just got a call. Easton's hemoglobin and hematocrit is fine, keep doing what we're doing and Dalton's labs were okay except his platelets are a little high, but nothing to be concerned about.

After he was done we headed up to Peds where I had to ask them for a new diaper for D. He's been a pooping machine lately and I ran out of diapers for him. Then we could go to dinner. The boys did good, Easton ate pizza...Dalton doesn't eat much lately and then we drove home.

I woke up with a horrible headache this morning and after we made and ate muffins for breakfast I decided I needed some meds and I took them and told the boys we were gonna watch TV while I laid on the couch and waited for the Tylenol and Ibuprofen to kick in. Easton was so sweet. He gave me his Cuddles and fetched a kitchen towel that he said was in case I threw up (often times we end up "catching" his vomit in various textiles, it seems). Then he went upstairs and got me a stuffed animal out of his room and covered me up with a blanket. Sweet, sweet boy. We watched Jungle Book which didn't really hold their attention but they mostly let me just lay there until I started feeling better. The headache isn't gone but it's much more manageable at this point.

I couldn't figure out much worthwhile to feed the boys for lunch. Good thing Easton can speak for himself and decided on a pile of shredded cheese. Good enough. He had that and some banana. D just messed around with everything I offered him. I think he ate a few Cheetos. Good thing he's got his milk, he's not been eating well. However, at the doctor he's gained a decent amount of weight for him (half a pound since his 18 month well-baby check where he had a full diaper). I guess I'll take it.

This morning poor D was asking to nurse. He hasn't done that much (asked, I mean) since we've weaned and it was kinda sad. As soon as I got him from his crib he pointed to his rocking chair and said, "I want milk." I said, "Let's go get some" and got his sippy. Later he was still asking for my milk. He started crying about it so I actually let him take a suck. I didn't think he'd get anything but he actually did get a little something and pulled away like it was totally yucky. Must be spoiled. :) It's just weird, since Easton never cared at all when we weaned. I'm kinda surprised he was asking. Poor guy.

Well they're up in their rooms now and I've got a Walgreens deal to share with those of you that care. I know a few of you have caught the coupon/deal bug with me so if you want to see, read on. If not...I'll talk at you tomorrow. :)

My Walgreens "Money Maker"
The best part about this is that I came up with it myself on Saturday night...before any of the coupon queens blogged about it, because Lauren and I got the next week's ad during our late night trip to Wags Saturday night. Woo hoo! The "deal" ended up working out even better than I'd thought it would, I'm honestly not exactly sure how it all happened.

Here's what I got:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I paid $5.79 for it all and I'll get $6.60 back. How, you ask?

I'll tell you...

The Scrubbing Bubbles wipes are on sale 2 for $5 this week. I use such things to clean my toilets. Even though I wash my sponges in the laundry after each cleaning session, I only use them on tubs and sinks. Cleaning my sinks with a sponge that I use to clean my toilets disgusts me (and Jason), so I use disposable wipes like these. Sorry, planet.

Anyway, I had coupons for them. One was a printable BOGO found here and one was a .75 cents off from the newspaper a few weeks back.

I also got 4 of the Glade PlugIn Scented Gel Warmers. There is another BOGO for those found here (on, like, the 4th page). I had two of these BOGOs, hence the 4 warmers. Which we don't necessarily use the PlugIns but they're free so why NOT get them? Look for them in your Christmas packages as this is not the first time I've gotten free Glade Plug Ins, hee hee!

Anyway, so here's the breakdown of all the monies:
(2) Scrubbing Bubbles Wipes $5.00 $2.50 $1.75
-one was free with my printable BOGO, and I got .75 cents off the one I DID pay for so really, $1.75 for 2

(4) Glade Plug In Scented Gel Warmers (normally $1.99 each) $7.96 $3.98
-only had to pay for 2 with those two printable BOGOs, remember?

So, my total was then $5.73.

I had a $5.00 Register Reward from the Softsoap deal AJ reminded me of and then I put the remaining .73 (really .79 with tax) on my Walgreens Gift Card which has the money I earned from my previous "mail-in" rebates.

Now, I've gone and submitted these purchases for more rebates. I'll get $4 back ($1 each) for the Glade PlugIn Scented Gel Warmers (Easy Saver Rebate #28) and $2 back ($1 each) for the Scrubbing Bubbles Wipes (Easy Saver Rebate #27)...yes, even though I techinally only paid for 1 wipes and 2 PlugIns I'll get rebates back on all 6 items. Crazy, no?

PLUS because I'll opt for "gift card" when getting my rebate money back, I get 10% extra...so I'll get $6.60 on that purchase which really only cost $5.73, $5 of which was a Register Reward from before.

Insane!

Can you see why I'm all a twitter about Walgreens now???

We're heading there later to at least do the FREE Visine deal AJ figured out all by herself and she's famous now too!

So glad to hear all the lab results turned out so well. Happy Day!

I am surprised that D wanted to nurse after how long as it has been. I find it funny that you referred to your milk as "spoiled" though ;)

All the Walgreens talk has my head spinning. Thank you so much for spelling it out though. I am going to take advantage of the Visine for sure. I always hate buying that at full price - but never think to buy it when I don't use it all that often.

I'm glad all the blood tests came back good. Glad Easton did so well. Poor Dalton though...I hate that they had to go digging for a good vein. Bless his heart. :(

So sorry you had a bad headache. Glad you got some good cuddles while you were recuperating. Easton sure knows how to take care of his mama.

And that's so sweet (yet kinda sad) about Dalton wanting to nurse. I'm surprised he mentioned it after so many days have gone by. I guess it's good that he didn't like the milk he was able to get.

Lastly, I just emailed you about the coupon deals, but just wanted to say keep sharing all those bargains. I'm glad you break it down the way you do and make it very easy to understand.
