Well, all I can say is that I'm glad my Halloween recap is out of the way...because I have lots more I want to share from the weekend and the last two days and what I did for 4 and a half hours at the dentist yesterday and all that jazz...
Let's just jump right in, shall we?
So Saturday morning I woke up playing a few rounds of puke or dook...must've been too much Halloween candy or something. However, I recovered amazingly quickly, especially once I felt well enough to eat again and could get back some of my energy...which only took till lunchtime.
Because of Easton's parent teacher conference last week, Dalton didn't go to AussieROO so I scheduled his make up for Saturday morning so Jason could go with him...luckily the calendar on my phone alarmed reminding us of the class otherwise we would've completely forgotten! So J and D rushed off to do that while I laid on the couch and read books with Easton.
When they came back lunch wasn't too far behind and after naps and quiet time we went to the library. They were supposedly having a "Read-tober-fest" party and we were gonna get free books and a goodie bag out of the deal but no such luck. Instead we made doughnut holes into acorns with frosting, toffee bits, and a pretzel stem and watched Icabod Crane on the library TV. It was just the boys and I while Jason ran to drop off our mail in voter ballots.
He came to pick us up and then we drove down to Elitch's for truly the last day of the season. I've never seen it so busy. The weather was beautiful...Jason was in shorts in November. Easton was in costume. Dalton and I were just regular. :) But yeah, lots of people had the same idea as we did before they closed up shop till next summer. We started on the carousel as usual:
Then posed with some Halloween decor:
He was one of the only kids in costume, but he wears costumes year-round anyway:
He'd been talking all summer about wearing his capes on the roller coaster so it could blow behind him. Unfortunately, the long was just too darn long for his roller coaster so he settled for the swings instead and kept checking to make sure his cape was blowing nicely in the breeze:
Even though Dalton has ridden those swings many times, he's technically too short and this time the ride operator followed the rules and wouldn't let him ride:
He was a total rascal on the boats, taking off their seat belt...the nice girl behind them helped them buckle up again because the ride operator had already checked and moved on:
After awhile we decided to call it a day. We stopped for sandwiches on the way home and came home to eat. The time change was going to happen and I was a little nervous.
Sure enough, they were up at their usual time for their bodies but so was I. But up before 7 on a Sunday seems like a crime. Oh well. We had breakfast and Jason went off to check out a church. We watched a little football and then after naptime for D we drove down to a family get-together at Grammy's because my cousin Robbie was in town from California. My other cousin JUST had a baby so they didn't make it. But Easton was thrilled to play in all the leaves in Grammy's yard:
Dalton is not quite as fond of it, but he hung in there okay:
However, with the time change, we had to call it a night at just 6:30. Easton was in rare form and was so hyper and loud, probably trying to keep himself awake. After all it was nearly bedtime for his body and he'd been having lots of Halloween candy that day. He was just crazy. Kinda embarassing.
On Monday we ate our doughnuts at Krispy Kreme. My week already started out better when my veneer stayed on through that meal. After that it was off to Wal-Mart, it's my first week using my new meal plan and that was super easy to make my list and head out.
Awhile back we bought a couple of those McDonald's "Tricks and Treats" coupons for $1. You get a bunch of stuff like ice cream cones, apple dippers, small juice or milk...and hamburgers. We gave the 6 hamburger coupons to some trick or treaters and then saved the rest for ourselves. So, when we arrived at Wal-Mart we stopped in the McDonald's for some apple slices which Easton ordered and "paid" for. Then, the boys munched while we shopped. I think I'm on to something. :)
We came home, did lunch and quiet times as usual and then we went for a walk up to the nearby McD's again. Easton and I traded taking pictures:
At McD's we picked up a Redbox rental with the free code on Monday's and then we stopped in for a free ice cream cone too, which we all 3 shared as we walked:
We walked to the park to play for a bit but Dalton was in a bit of a funk:
Easton was great, it's amazing the cooperation you can get from a kid who wants you to push him really high on the swing:
Dalton eventually came around for a bit:
Easton continued to have fun:
But Dalton started being a stinker again and Easton took off his shoes, er, Bat boots and we headed for home and a trip to Walgreens instead. My item of choice that they're paying me to take out of their store this week is Shick Quattro razors. I've already been twice for them.
Monday night both boys were in need of an early bedtime, I think this is the hardest a time change has been on us. Oh well. It meant E was up in plenty of time for school. Which was mostly okay. Isaac's dad stayed to observe the class all day and I asked if Easton cried a lot. He said, "No, just a bit at the beginning. He's very social." I was like, "Easton is? Are you sure?" But apparently so. I think any kid could be considered more social than Isaac though...he's not too chatty, I think it's maybe because he speaks two languages?
Jason asked Easton to draw him a picture at school. I kinda forgot about it until I was watching E for a bit after I dropped him off and that's the first thing he did...he went to the easel, threw on a smock and went to work. When I picked him up I found this waiting:
Easton says it's a horse and explained it all to me...if you're having trouble seeing it, click on it for some "help". He made it blue, because that is Daddy's favorite. But he put that spot of purple on there. I asked what it was and he said, "Just some purple for you." I think it's a really really great horse, it might've been a happy accident that it turned out as well as it did. It probably turned into the horse, bee, hay, and Daddy's name after the fact but oh well. We love it and I love that it was important to him to remember to do for Daddy who had asked.
While E was at school Dalton and I came home for bagels for breakfast, then went to Walgreens again and to Wal-Mart to pick up a few things I'd forgotten the day before (that weren't on my meal plan) and then went to get E.
We brought Eastie home with us and Easton smeared his own bagel with cream cheese. The boy is addicted to helping:
After lunch I put Diddles down for his nap and Easton had a smidge of quiet time before Lauren showed up to watch them for me while I went to the dentist. The poor girl, I had no idea I'd be gone so long.
So here's the scoop I showed up and they always take forever to get me numb. First they put on a topical numbing gel and leave me with a Q-tip hanging out of my mouth for, like, 10 minutes. Finally the dentist comes around to actually give me the shot to numb things up and they leave again for another 10-15...trust me, it's my fourth time in that chair in 2 weeks, this is just how they do it. So while the dentist is in there numbing me this time he first looks at my new fancy porcelain veneer. He holds it up to my mouth to check how it'll look. He says, "Looks good" numbs me up and leaves. The girl comes in to put it on, first she takes off the temp. She puts the new fancy porcelain veneer in my mouth and goes, "Oh gosh...I can't put this in your mouth." The color was alllllllllllll wrong! It was seriously an unnatural yellow color...it apparently wasn't even the shade they'd asked for. But dude, could he not have noticed this before he numbed me up and had her take off the temporary???? So then it was this whole big ordeal of making sure to figure out what shade I should be and what shade did they give us and "just send her over to the lab for a custom shade" but first put another temporary on and oh yeah, she's got a cleaning today. Argh!!!!! So, finally I've got my 4th temporary on, I swear I'm going to develop scar tissue from the site where he has to keep giving me my numbing injection. I'm completely fed up. So then I go over to the hygenist, but it's not a hygenist. And the hygiene department is different than the dental department. So, the hygenist says to the girl doing my x-rays, "I don't have time for a cleaning, my next patient is here." Um, was I not scheduled for a cleaning??? Am I not the next patient? What the heck, people?
So anyway, they won't touch your teeth for a cleaning unless you've had x-rays and they know how "deep your pockets are" and stuff because it's this big liability blah blah blah. Only dentist I've been to like that but whatever. So I got my 18 films taken...no, I'm not exaggerating. Then she takes actual pictures of my teeth with a toothbrush camera thing and also she fills in little dots on a computer to show where I have fillings already. Then I have to watch two videos about periodontal disease and oral cancer and then the dentist comes in to poke around for cavities and check how deep my pockets are.
No cleaning.
And a couple of my "pockets" are borderline for periodontal disease. Lovely.
And those bazillion cavities I have. Seriously, I think it's more like 4 or 5. It's been awhile since I've been to the dentist for a regular check up. Probably since before I was pregnant with Dalton...we were without dental insurance for awhile. And I'm cavity prone anyway so I thought I had fillings in just about every possible surface already. Guess not.
After all that was finally over with I had to drive over to the dental lab to have them fix the shading on my porcelain veneer. They were perfectly lovely but I was pretty annoyed over all already and so I had to sit there while they tried their best to custom shade my tooth and then they'd have to fire it in the oven for a bit, then customize it some more, then fire it some more, then oh no...it's not shiny enough anymore we have to fire it again. Finally I left.
I go back (hopefully) next Tuesday. And then who knows when I'll go back for the fillings. It's ridiculous.
Poor Lauren too!
During the evening Jason and I watched history in the making as Obama was elected our next president.
Anyway, today has been better than yesterday but so far every morning Easton has called saying, "Mommy! There's something wrong with my clock again!" because it is taking too long (according to him) to switch to 7 with this time change. Last night I told him if he waited till 7 today I'd have a small prize for him. It worked. He waited till 7 this morning. Dalton did not.
After breakfast and hanging out for a bit the boys and I drove up to the mall. I didn't find anything I needed/wanted. Bummer. We grabbed some cookies for their good behavior and came home. Dalton was super tired and couldn't wait for his nap so he skipped lunch and went right to sleep.
Easton and I stayed up and ate some lunch and hung out for a bit before his quiet time:
Dalton said, "Raaaaaaaaaaar!" when he saw E's shirt this morning.
After quiet time is over (which is really soon) we're probably going to go see if we can buy a movie or something for the boys with Dalton's Best Buy gift card.
And that oughta do it! Bye!

Oh my how cute are those boys!?!?! I miss you!! I just found your blog, and am so happy to see you and E and D! :) Email me if you want! ce_ross@yahoo.com
Hugs!
Holy Cow! I am exhausted after reading your blog today. I can't imagine going through what you have had to endure over that flippin tooth. I would be so ticked off...I probably would have left the office much earlier than you did.
E's picture...brillant!
How in the world do you get your boys to share an ice-cream cone? My kids would NEVER share such a thing.
This has been the hardest time change on us as well...I feel for you sista~
That second pictures of Easton in the leaves, he reminds me of Wally Cleaver...lol.
His picture is awesome. I love the "help" picture.
Your whole tooth ordeal is so old and aggravating. Once they got the veneer on, I would say forget about the cleaning and fillings until you can find a new, reliable dentist. That is crazy. They may need their records checked with BBB. I know you are so beyond done with this. Hopefully it will all be over next Tuesday, I hear that is a very special day anyways.
I thought Easton's picture was a horse before I even read the text :) Moo
I just cannot believe all you've dealt with at your dentist. Unbelievable.
I also think it's pretty unbelievable how you are always getting stuff for free--movies, food, razors. Fun stuff!
Sorry the time change has been difficult. It's been that way for a few other families that I know. We've somehow been really lucky with all the time changes not affecting Adam (and now Drew). Hope that trend continues.
One time, we put KayTar in the leaves and she totally lost it. I think maybe she even puked. Hello, sensory processing disorder. LOL. Retrospect.
Poor Lauren, that's a long babysitting gig! Poor you, too, how frustrating. UGH! You and your too while teeth.
