Guess Where I Was?

My new home away from home: the dentist.

Nothing happenend, not to worry...it was just my regularly scheduled four cavities to be filled. Was there any drama?

Are you kidding?!?!?!

Of course there was drama.

Let's see...I showed up and they had me pick a movie if I wanted. I laughed and said, "How long am I gonna be here??" and he looked at the chart and said, "45 minutes to an hour". I picked a movie I knew the ending to, since I wouldn't be there long. I thought I picked "Wedding Singer" but "Wedding Planner" is what he got. I watched all 103 minutes of it.

That wasn't the drama though.

The problem was that he couldn't get me properly numbed. So, I had cavities in two teeth on the top left and two on the bottom right. When the girl came to check if I was numb and could feel any sharp stuff when she poked me, the answer was yes. I could. So, he came back and numbed me more. Then we let that sit. The top was fine. The bottom seemed okay too. Until he started drilling. And he totally hit a nerve and I jumped, grunted, and raised my hand as they instructed to do if I felt any pain. Yeouch!!!!

He quickly numbed me again...mind you each time is 2-4 shots, I think. Then he got to work...I kept jumping and writhing and squirming but I was determined to deal with it as he cleared out all the decay with his drill. When she came back and blew air in the holes so she'd have a dry surface to put the fillings in she noticed, "you're still feeling it, let me have him numb you again." And he did. Another 4 shots or so. And he said, "work quickly...that's gonna wear off soon." But blessedly, this time I was fully numb. Holy moly. Tooth stuff hurts!

As she was working she said, "As soon as you get home take some ibuprofen, that last one had to go into the bone (!!) and it's gonna hurt." Ugh. I took my ibu's but even now, 2.5 hours after I got home I'm still quite numb.

I was so numb I had no clue I looked like this eating my ice cream (which was hard to do all numb like I am):

Thankfully Lauren was still with us and filled me in the TWO times I did that.

My tongue isn't working properly, one side of my face is seemingly drooping like I've had a stroke, I can't talk right. Now I'm worrying it's never gonna get better. I wasn't numb for this long even after my C-sections!

Anyway, that's why I didn't do a regular blog today, folks. You can expect it another time. Check back later as I got a brief fun tag again and might have to do that.

ugh. I hate being numb. It totally freaks me out...especially when your face is involved. I hope it wears off soon and the pain isn't too unbearable. :)

I can't believe it. Well yeah, I guess I can believe it, but I also can't believe it. Does that many any sense?!

So sorry you have been through such an ordeal today. It just never ends at that place! Although I do think it's kinda cool you get to watch a movie while you're there...never heard of that at the dentist.

The repeated unsuccessful numbing attempts reminds me of my failed epidurals!

Hope you are not in too much pain tonight!
