Halloween Recap

I have so many pics that right now I think I'm only going to tackle the rest of Halloween and do a separate post (at some point) for the rest of the weekend and today (Monday). It's been busy for us here at the S house.

So we'll journey back to Halloween afternoon. Dalton never did take a nap at home like I said. I had minimal hope for a car nap. And sure thing, on the way there he was wide awake the entire drive. Oh well.

Easton told me "I'm going to take off my mask so they'll know it's me. But, if they don't want me I'll put it back on." Awwww, who wouldn't want him? :(

Anyway, we walked into the building and right away I saw Little (née Baby) John's mom who I hadn't seen since she was in the hospital recovering from having her twin boys in July. And I'd also never met the twins so that was first on my agenda. She said "Feel free to hold them" and so I picked the awake boy (dressed like a duck or chick) up immediately. The rest of my family ditched me for a hayride:

Stinkers!

We mingled a tiny bit, I got to hold the other twin later, and we played some Guitar Hero because I'd never played before:

We were in the break room by ourselves but then Keith (from the poker party) walked in and saw me playing. Jason wasn't there anymore and I felt like the biggest dork in the world basically playing Xbox by myself. I am NO good at that game, especially with an "audience".

We wandered around some more, eventually E's little buddy Kaiden showed up and the boys had fun being superheros together. Kaiden was dressed as Wolverine from X-Men. At some point Dalton was all messy from eating a lollipop and I took him into the bathroom to get cleaned up. Krista was in there nursing one of the babies and so we chatted with her for awhile. When we came out I find out that Dalton (who was in the bathroom with me) had won first prize for best kid's costume. What!?!? We didn't even vote. Nor were we pimping him around going "vote for our kid" or anything. As you might recall...we were keeping to ourselves a lot in the breakroom with the Xbox:

Or checking out Daddy's desk:

I felt really stupid that Dalton wasn't there to claim his prize ($30 gift card to Best Buy) because we were in the bathroom chatting to a nursing mom through the stall door. Ha! So Jason claimed it and said they said he won by a "large margin". As Jason and I didn't even vote I was all, "Wha??? Who voted for him?" And we went to look through the stack of voting slips. He had 5 votes. The next highest amount was 2...lots of kids had 2. Isn't that kinda crazy? I mean, he's a super cute kid and made a great Elmo and all, but there were little twin lady bugs...we were really surprised at how that all turned out. I wonder what he's gonna buy with his gift card?

Eventually things started to wind down and we took our boys and Kaiden and his brother outside for some pictures. I love this one because we were kinda wanting to get the bigger superhero boys but Dalton's peeking out all "Cheese!"

I can see why D won.

Check out Kaiden's cool pose above and here:

He's got the moves down. He's seen all the superhero movies so he knows what to do. Unfortunately, Easton currently leads a more sheltered life (not allowed to watch the movies) so this is all he could come up with:

These are a little better:

Then our Batman needed to pose with Kaiden's baby brother Ethan who was dressed as...

We're not around any babies much so I didn't really remember how much Easton adores babies:

This is when he said, "He loves me!"

It was too sweet.

After that we drove home and I was chatting with my mom on the phone telling her--among other things--how good Easton is with babies (this wasn't the only time). When I got off the phone he said, "Yeah...I'm good at babies." Then he fell asleep. Whoops! Wrong kid!

Dalton continued to stay awake.

Easton didn't wake up when we got home nor when we unbuckled him so we let him snooze for a bit in the garage while we got dinner and such ready. I made him this:

By letting him nap a bit we were hoping to avoid any kind of meltdown, however that's exactly what happened. He was so tearful for awhile but finally pulled it together enough to eat his pumpkin face. He perked up even more once Jason changed into his costume:

After handing out candy to a few trick or treaters we knew it was safe to head out ourselves:

We started off with carrying Dalton so he wouldn't get too tired, after all, he hadn't slept even a mere wink all day:

But it was clear after awhile that Dalton was ready to keep up all on his own. He was amazing!

He was so excited, even leading the way sometimes:

He followed Bubba's lead at the doors and such holding out his bucket when Bubs did and saying thank you, but that boy was determined. He was climbing up and down those stairs doing his darnest to keep up. He did great!

(At one point J noticed he forgot to change into shoes and was walking around the neighborhood in his purple LSU slippers! Nice one, Robin!)

Easton blew out the jack-o-lantern at this house. I gave him a stern look and he said, "That's because I don't like fire." I told on him when the lady answered the door and warned him not to try that again. Goob.

After running into Dwight...

The boys got to eat a few things...I would've picked chocolate but they go for nasty stuff like marshmallow eyeballs and Smarties:

We put Dalton to bed about 20 minutes early from his non-napping day and Easton got to stay up with us to hand out more candy with Daddy:

In between watching a Halloweeny Backyardigans and snuggling:

We put Easton to bed around 8:00 which is just a little later than normal for him, but it was a special day!

Seriously, you must stop with the creative meal servings...it makes me feel inadequate ;) LOL

How cool that D won!! And hey, make sure Jason reads this...a real good way to keep Easton happy about the baby love would be to give him another one of his very own!!! HINT, HINT =P

What a great Halloween recap.

Of course lil D won that costume contest. He makes a perfect Elmo!

I loved the super hero poses. I thought Easton's were the cutest because he was actually coming up with his own...very cute.

Oh and that Baby Ethan...what a doll!

Glad ya'lls Halloween was so much fun! And it's nice to know someone stinks at Guitar Hero as much as I do. :)
