Oh Happy Day

Today has been a good day...it's one of those days where I feel especially blessed to be mom to my two boys. They're behaving well, playing together well, listening well, eating well. I know you all have days like that, days when you feel extra extra happy about life. And that's what today is so far.

No one's done this...(yet)

And instead it's just been a big happy, full-of-pride-and-love-fest. :)

I wouldn't have thought that's how today would necessarily go. Easton was in a wild mood last night and backtalked to me for one of the first times. Instead of making me angry I had to look the other way and stifle a laugh. Even when I told Jason later it made him laugh. Then around dinnertime Easton started crying that his ear hurt. We thought he might have bonked it but we also knew he'd had a cold and wondered about an ear infection. He kept crying about everything the rest of the evening so I rushed to get him to bed early. After the world's shortest bath I got him straight to bed and he fell asleep in no time only to wake up crying an hour later. For the longest time I couldn't get him to talk to me about why he was so sad. I took him potty and tucked him back in but he kept crying out, almost in his sleep. I kept pestering him to give me a reason for the tears. Finally he shouted, "Because I'm sick, Mommy!!!" In his "DUH!!!!" voice. After that I was able to gather that his ear was still bothering him. :( Jason brought us up some Motrin and we tried tucking him in again. Kept crying out. So then I did a warm moist compress and snuggled him in the bed till he was snoring again. Poor fella. He says it's all better today. Weird. But good.

This morning Dalton had a doctor's appointment for what I suspected was a couple of spots of bad eczema. The steroid cream we have to put on Easton when his eczema acts up says not to put on kids under 2. So we called for an appointment for D. We were in and out in no time, the derm does believe it's eczema and gave us some sample tubes of stuff to hopefully clear it up. Both boys were fantastic while we were there and got stickers. Easton helped Dalton with his...

Then it was off for smoothies. Jason cancelled a meeting so that he could join us. The boys were very happy to hear that and while we sipped we played a little Yahtzee:

Much better than a boring meeting.

Especially with Easton doing all our rolling:

We dropped J back off at work and the boys entertained themselves (and me) the whole way home:

After that last big cough at the end Dalton yakked a little. Easton said, "We need a tissue!" and was going to clean D up himself, but I was able to do it and he said, "You're such a nice, Mommy." See???: a good day.

Also on the way home, Easton asked his brother if they wanted to get 'all nakey' and run and play when they got home. It's become a favorite game around here after dinner when they often both get stripped because of messy clothes. So they run around in their skivvies and just act silly.

For lunch Easton said, "I have an idea! How about Poppity Pops and cottage cheese?!" So that's what they ate...Pops cereal (dry) with cottage cheese on the side. Actually Easton liked to put a Pop on top of each bite of cottage cheese. I think he called them "poppity" pops because we'd just watched Wubbzy. They were so cute for their lunch, Easton pushed his chair right over by Dalton's so I could spoon it in for each of them. Less messy that way so I was happy. And they entertained me with silly faces:

Then it was time for quiet time and naps. But I sure am smiling my new, fixed smile a lot today (for you, AJ, didn't want to let down any expectations):

How could I not smile when I look at these boys:

Oh, and before I go...here is a video of Eastie from this morning. I'm not sure I could pull this same stunt, even with the tiny jump start he gives himself:

And that is all for today, dear friends. Hope you're having happy days too!

Great videos! Glad y'all are having a such a fun day together! Oh, how I wish for one of those fun days ... my girl was in tantrum city for most of the afternoon after school and now is NAPPING ... which probably means she's getting sick :(

Oh, I love days like that! We are having a pretty good day too...how fun. And since we are so in sync it seems, last night my kids were eating dry coco puffs and dipping them in peanut butter. I realize not quite as healthy as your kids, but I thought it was funny.

Okay, and that video of E at the end...I KNOW I could not do that. How I wish for such control and super strong stomach muscles.

With a brand new smile how could you not enjoy your day? ;)

Eastie's "I have an idea..." cracked me up. Livie says that ALL the time!

So happy you enjoyed your day!

What a great day you had. I will have to come back for the videos because they are not loading at the moment.

Your smile looks great and I am glad it is all over now and in the past.

Okay, no way could I do a chin up like that. Easton always amazes me.

But more importantly...how sweet/cute are your boys?! Of course we already knew that they were, but the stories and videos from today just reinforced that point.

This was a great post and gave me warm fuzzies.

Oh and your tooth looks superb dah-ling!

It's okay to be a copy cat. By having you both tag me, I finally was encouraged to get it done.

I challenge you to come out to CA and help me get my house organized. It could be fun!
