With Autumn having thrown up twice in the night, I was a bundle of nerves again. And with her tummy being weird and my tummy full of butterflies, an expensive character breakfast was poorly timed. Yet, there we were....on our way to the "Surf's Up" breakfast at Disney's Paradise Pier hotel. We put on yesterday's Mickey head shirts again because I thought they didn't get shown enough the day before (due to our jackets) and I liked them better for the Mickey breakfast than the other shirts we had planned for the day. We brought those clothes to change into afterwards. :)
My biggest reason for choosing the Surf's Up breakfast was because of the characters usually present: Mickey and a recent favorite: Stitch. Easton particularly loves Stitch but we're all fans.
While waiting for our reservations we posed in the lobby.
Well, the boys posed. Autumn was most definitely not up for it. :(
In the gift shop, Dalton also found the "Fantasmic Mickey" he had decided he wanted to try to find for his souvenir. (That means Sorcerer Mickey with the robe and hat.) We told him we'd get it after breakfast because they called our name!
Before taking you to your table they have you pose with Mickey so they can try to sell you the pictures of it later. But they also take one with your camera too:
(Good grief, I'm tall!)
Autumn showing us how she felt that morning.
She really wasn't up for much. It was sad. And had me totally on edge that she might "blow" at any moment. But we sucked it up and tried our best to enjoy ourselves:
Daisy came by:
And Pluto:
Stitch was a hoot. We really enjoyed the interactions with him:
Right up a little boy's alley....picking his nose:
Showing us:
Eating it:
We were about ready to leave when Minnie came out! Autumn perked up for her!
We stopped by the gift shop again to get Sorcerer Mickey:
Then we decided that the kids and I would walk up to Downtown Disney and catch the monorail over to Disneyland while Jason would take our car back to the hotel and meet us over there. I picked some foolish roundabout way to get there but eventually we did and waited for the monorail:
(This ended up being one of my favorite pictures from the whole trip.)
It's always a fun "ride":
The monorail lets you off nearish Tomorrowland so we headed to what we call "Buzz Blasters". It's really called, like, Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin or something. But it's one that rarely has a line so we do it often. And J wouldn't be missing much without doing it with us while we waited for him. See? No line....
(Aren't they precious how they're all holding hands? They did that all on their own--they frequently do. They really love one another and enjoy each other most of the time. Such a blessing.)
After Jason met up with us we changed into our different clothes for the day. The kids were all in matching "Triple Trouble" shirts with Merida's brothers on them. I bought them for, like, $2.99 each before we left from the Disney store (with leftover gift cards from the November 2011 trip!).
We split up after that. The boys doing taller things over in Adventureland:
And Autumn and I doing little girl things like Dumbo:
Autumn and I befriended a little girl and her dad in the Dumbo line. The little girl had been to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and was all dolled up like Cinderella. But she had to go potty and the line we were in was ridiculously long. I told them I'd let them back in with us...that I'd pretend like we knew them all along. :) Worked perfectly.
Then we caught a very funny and well done Rapunzel show in the Princess Fantasy Faire. After that we headed over to meet up with the rest of the family and on our way we witnessed a surprise proposal going on in front of the castle. Awwww. She was seriously shocked.
I wish I knew them so I could give them those pictures of their special moment.
We spent some time visiting some things we hadn't done yet. Pictures in front of the castle:
(I thought my orange would compliment the triplet's hair on the shirt but now I realize I should've just worn green too.)
Heading back towards Tomorrowland:
Easton was excited to check out the Iron Man 3 exhibit:
They had this cool simulator that turned you into Iron Man on a screen. We waited for a bit so Easton could do it:
Autumn fell asleep. :(
Then Dalton got scared about Easton turning into Iron Man. His tummy got upset. He was hiding. But he was still a little curious.....
It wasn't too scary after all:
In fact, it was pretty cool:
With Autumn asleep AND too short, Jason and I took turns with the boys on Autopia:
And then we headed to get some lunch. Easton can't just stand there patiently, not that I'd asked him to:
We were about finished at Disneyland so we made a stop to get the souvenir I'd been planning on: silhouettes of the kids!
This lady is amazing....in about 2 minutes she cut out each kid...she cuts two at a time--mirror images. It's $9 per head which isn't bad for Disney, you know. And, now I have these:
Easton hamming it up while we waited for them to glue down their silhouettes:
Easton and Jason headed back near PotC to get Easton his souvenir (Jack Sparrow Mickey) while the little two and I hopped over to California Adventure to snag a spot for the coming Pixar parade. We got a great spot and settled in for a snack. I asked Jason to pick me up a churro on the way to join us. Autumn was eating a Larabar. Suddenly she decided she didn't want it anymore. Then she turned all pale and looked at me declaring urgently, "I have to go potty!" and before I could figure out what she meant, she was yakking all over herself and the sidewalk. Poor Miss. And poor people sitting near us! Ick! Some lady handed me some napkins and I had Jason abort any churro plans (poor me) and rush to meet me so I could get Autumn cleaned up. Luckily we still had her pink dress from breakfast that morning for her to change into. We headed to a restroom to change and wash up and then headed back to our spot marked with puke. Eew. We poured some water around on it a bit to dilute it, I guess, and to push it towards the sidewalk grate and otherwise just dealt with it for the fabulous parade. Perhaps surprisingly, Autumn especially enjoyed the parade:
Like the previous times, she was fine after she threw up. I was thinking I'd take her back to the room or something but she perked right up. After the parade I told a Cast Member that she'd thrown up on their sidewalk and he was going to come take care of it. Jason and the boys headed to do some things like the "soak you to the bone" water ride and the Redwood Canyon Trail area:
And sharing a Mickey ice cream bar:
While Autumn and I had a mellower time of trying to find some motion sickness medicine (nowhere on the whole Disney property carried anything for young'uns!!! The cast members were great and called all around to hotels and the first aid station). So we just did the Ariel ride and ferris wheel:
And carousel:
We later met up with the boys for another go on Monsters, Inc:
She's being a scary monster here:
And some dinner. Dalton made "Hidden Mickeys" with raisins on his Triscuits:
We decided on one last ride on our family favorite Toy Story Mania and then made sad faces that our time at Disney had come to an end once again. :(
On our way out, Autumn picked up a Baby Boo doll (from Monsters, Inc.) for her souvenir.
We headed back to the hotel and while the kids got ready for bed, Jason ran up to the Target to buy some Benadryl for little miss' nausea. (Benadryl is my fave for such things, personally). She slept through the night after dosing her up, thank goodness:
Stay tuned for our last days of our California adventure....Day 6 is here.

I have never heard of using Benadryl for an upset tummy. Is it the same one you use for allergies?
So sorry poor Autumn got sick on your trip. If that should ever happen again, tell a cast member and have them call a custodian. They will put some good smelling sawdust type of stuff on it and clean it up so that you (and others around you) won't have to sit in/near the smelly vomit.
That lady who did your silhouette's has been working for Disneyland for over 40 years. She is great and I don't know what they'll do when she decided to retire. Just a bit of Disney trivia for ya!
Your day brings back memories of one we had! It started with Chef Mickey's breakfast and Izzy puked (twice) yet refused to leave or go to Hollywood Studios another day. I'm pretty sure I earned worst mom award that day as Izzy would throw up while in line (into a bag which I would then immediately throw out), and we would continue onto the ride. Strange thing is she felt fine in between each episode. So weird! It sure made for a stressful day for me!
