Not Even One?!?!

Hmmmmm...this is when I start to get a little frustrated with blogging. I've got a couple newer frequent commenters which I love, and thank you! But not one comment on Dalton's silly outfit? Darn. We drew a moustache and everything. Guess not everyone thinks baby moustaches are as hilarious as I do. I don't mean to be such a whiner but it's kind of a bummer. That's all. I realize I give y'all a lot of material and a lot of pictures soooo maybe you're just overloaded? In any case...here's more.

Back before our shopping outing on Saturday, the only two of my fellas that can stand on their own struck a pose for the camera:

And Sunday morning, with Thomas still out:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I think the biggest reason Thomas is such a huge hit with Easton is that we don't keep it out all the time. It stays special. Even Dalton got to play:

The bruthas:

Easton loves to "hold it". He's still working on those pronouns. Anyway, here's a cute one of "it":
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
And a silly faced one:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Oh my gosh, isn't he chunky? We can't get over how fat he is. He is a big boy.

Lookie what my husband made me do:
M.P.B. got you down?

Well, don't be a George Costanza head, make your wife do this:

Ack! It's gone. It's all gone. Jason is happier. I guess seeing his long lucious locks from that senior picture of his made him take this plunge. He'd been threatening me with it for awhile. I didn't have a choice anymore. Now he and Dalton have the same 'do. Seriously. And all 3 of my guys have the same curlique cowlick on the right side of their foreheads. I'll have to get a picture some other time.

While we had the clippers out we gave Easton a summer buzz too:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
The freshly shorn cuties:

J really does look happier. He saw me doing it in a hand mirror and said, "I respect myself more already." He's a goon. It's gonna take me a little more getting used to. But it was nice of me to do it even though I was against it. And I found him a few things to keep his dome looking good. I'm so supportive. :)

I'm not in any pictures ever, am I? The one time Jason decides to snap one of me lately is on a frumpy never-left-the-house kind of day. Oh well...here's me and my boys anyway:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Just so you don't forget what I look like.

We're having issues again with Easton and bedtime. He has taken forever to get to sleep. He's not being "bad" or getting out of bed or needing our company or interventions. He just talks in his room (not even loud enough to bother Dalton). Saturday night he was up talking till 9:30. Last night it was *only* 8:45. We put him to bed at 7:30!!! The kicker is of course he's still waking at 6:30-6:45. I was trying to blame it on it still being daylight. He's got black out curtains but they don't black out everything. But Jason pointed out how Easton can fall asleep for naps with the light. I dunno. He goes through these phases and if he's not bothering anyone I guess I should be fine with it. I just wish he was getting more sleep. He's never slept enough for me, it seems.

Anyway, today my mom came up to help me go to the mall. She's off and volunteered to help out so I took her up on it. So, she came up early and Dalton was napping plus the mall wasn't open yet. So she and Easton did some galloping:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
He just loves his Gramoo.

Then Dizzle woke up, ate, and we headed to the mall. I brought everyone along as opposed to my mom babysitting them at home just so Easton could play in the mall's fun play area. But when we got there it was closed!
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Not to worry, it was opening soon and I took a bunch of photos that turned out really crappy. This is probably the best one:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Then I left Eastie and Gramoo there and took Dalton with me to go try on jeans at JCPenney. I need new jeans and don't like how much they cost at the Gap. With my super-long inseam I've only found Gap makes extra talls (you have to get them online) and now I've discovered JCPenney has some online too. So, I wanted to go try on some in the store and see if I want to order them. I do. But Dalton and I couldn't fit his travel system in the fitting rooms. I had to take it all apart. Then the jeans in the size I wear at the Gap were a little tighter than I like, but I wasn't about to try on the next size up because of the ordeal with the stroller dismantling. I'm going to just order the next size (darn!) and hope for the best.

I called my mom's cell phone to see where she and E were at that point and she had taken him to a little arcade with Chuck E. Cheese type "rides".
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Fifty cents a pop! What a nice Gramoo! She offered to take a picture with me in it:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
So, when we got home I took one of myself and Dalton too, just to be fair:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

We went out for a quick but delish lunch and then Gramoo had to leave to go get my sister from school. Easton went down for his nap and Dalton and I headed to upload all the pictures to the computer. This is where Dizzle sometimes sits while I do that:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Nestled in the crook of my very long leg. I've been known to eat dinner and stuff with him there too...sometimes if he's wanting to be held as opposed to sitting in his swing or something that's what I'll do. He likes it there as you can clearly see.

Okay, that was more than enough to bombard you lovely readers with. I guess I'll call it a day. Ta ta for now!

Sunday, April 29, 2007

I've got lots of pictures to catch you up on again. And there's even more than this but I'll save some for tomorrow or whenever.

Sooooo...I often can't figure out what to have for lunch. So, I made myself some yummy chicken salad. Easton decided to pull up a chair for "helping wiss Mommy"
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
He poured chopped celery from measuring cup to measuring cup. Good thing I chopped extra because it got everywhere.

That afternoon I set up one of those activity mat/gym thingies for Dalton. Susannah (Max's mom) brought us a bunch of Max's hand-me-downs (yay!) and this "Kick & Crawl Aquarium" was one of them. Easton thought it should be for him:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I mean, he really thought it:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Dalton thought it was "just okay" so far:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Easton never had one of those because I rarely was unable to entertain him myself having just him and all. But, I'm not against letting kiddos do some independent play either. It's good for 'em.

This was just about the last time we saw Dalton happy on Friday:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Holy cow, Friday evening the poor boy just fell apart. We (luckily) had never seen him so inconsolable before. I'm thinking it was shot pain or something. We gave him Tylenol again but the poor dude was miserable. That made Easton super-sensitive again. Oy! Once Easton was in bed we put Dalton straight into a bath since he usually loves them. It worked for a few minutes. Nothing really worked after that but time. Eventually I got him to sleep, and following in his brother's post-vaccination footsteps he slept 6 straight hours. Nice! We weren't sure he'd sleep good though as grumpy as he was so I prepared to go to bed early too. Just then we heard the telltale sudden terrified cry from Easton's room. We knew, "Did he fall out of bed?" J asked. "Yup" as I ran in there. It was too dark when I got in there for me to see how he was positioned but my eyes quickly adjusted to see him somersault limply to the floor. I think he was too hot again and trying to scooch above the covers. Poor dude. We're running his ceiling fan when he sleeps now. And we keep forgetting to move the bed rail a little higher.

On Saturday we were up bright and early and were able to watch Easton live on the 7 a.m. news. Then Jason and Easton set up Easton's Thomas the Train set and turned on the NFL draft. Jason also had to do a little work on Easton's window (the one letting in all the rain) from the outside:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I took Easton to play in the front yard so he could watch Daddy on the roof.
"Oh my gosh! He's on the roof! He's gonna fall! Oh goodness!"
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Actually he kept holding his head like that because the sun was so darn bright.

More from playing in the yard and my sweet boy picking me dandilions:

Don't worry, when Easton went down for his nap Dalton got his own photo session too:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
And we took full advantage of him wearing this little strong man suit (he's outgrown it):

Hee hee hee ha ha ho! He didn't hate his moustache like Easton hated the one I gave him. In case you don't remember, we like dressing up our children for no real reason other than it entertains us...and now you...
Here was Easton in May 2005:

Our little Kung Fu Fighter. And check out Clarence! (The hernia...not the cat. The cat is Blitz.) Oy!

Yesterday after the naps and photo sessions we headed out shopping. Babies R Us for a swaddle blanket Dalton can't escape from. We tried it on him this morning. It won't work. I'm an expert swaddler from my 5+ years doing it in the hospital and we swaddled Easton for sleep until he was about 6 months old, I think. Anyway, I can do a much better, tighter swaddle than this stupid blanket. It's going back to the store. Dalton is good at escaping and it wakes him up. I don't like that. Otherwise I wouldn't care if he was swaddled or not. Now we're looking at the more expensive straight-jacket types. Otherwise known as The Miracle Blanket. I think I have to order it online. I'm semi-against paying shipping fees plus $30 for the blanket so I'll see what I can figure out here at home and then re-evaluate. It's getting so much warmer so I don't love the idea of double wrapping him, ya know? Grrr...such dilemmas I face, don't I? ;)

We went out for a quick dinner last night and the restaurant changed their menu so what I always get is no longer available. Well, poo on them. That has happened to me more than once: at TGI Friday's, Le Peeps, and now Rumbi Island Grill. Wah!

I'll save the rest of the updates for the next post though, since there are pictures to go along with all that. I'll see if I can dig up any movies too. Hope everyone enjoyed the weekend!

Easton on the News--Several Close Ups

Go here: http://cbs4denver.com/fit4colorado and look at the video box on the right side. The second thumbnail. If you mouse over it it says, "My Gym Challenges Kids to Start Exercising at an Early Age". Click it and watch. That's what was on the news this morning! Easton is the first close-up they do (climbing the ladder). He's got two more. You can see me holding Dalton in the background of a few shots too....like when they show the swings. Easton is in the red rockety swing on the right and I'm pushing him. But, it's really about Easton. Go see!

UPDATE: Dalton's 2 Month Well-Baby Visit

STATS:
Weight: 13 pounds, 15 ounces
Length: 23 1/4 inches
Head: 16 inches

Now, for my own commentary on the above. His weight gain, still good, more than an ounce a day if you average it all out. "They" say you can expect most healthy babies to gain .5-1 ounce a day. The doctor said, "And you're just breastfeeding, right?" Right. Go me! Okay, the doctor told me his weight is "above the 95th percentile". My online calculator says it's just 81st%. I say the "just" part very sarcastically. 81st percentile is still quite hefty to me. Especially when you consider what we're used to with Lil E. She told me his height was 95th %, online says 41st% (how is it that different?) Plus, I never believe Tina's (the crappy M.A.) measuring. This time she measured him diagonally. Questionable if you ask me.

The doctor asked if I had any concerns. I brought up the bum sores that took forever to go away and the green poo and told her that I saw online that might be a sign of food allergies. She poo-pooed that. Then, I told her I read (online again) about the green poo meaning a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance. Again she said that was bologna. Okay, I'm sure I'd be annoyed if I was a doctor and everyone acted like they knew more than me the doctor or whatever. But I don't think that's what I was doing. And I think they were valid concerns. Not like, "So doesn't green poo mean cancer?" Hmpfh. She pointed at the little tank in my arms and said, "Obviously he's doing fine." I guess. He also has a perpetual rash on his chin and the corners of his mouth. I asked if she thought it might be a reaction to my milk on his face or maybe the burp cloths (the detergent in them) I use to dab the milk off his mouth. She said, "I'm not worried about it. It looks like a contact thing. It doesn't look like it's bothering him." Well, I agree with all those statements, Doc, but what if I don't want him to have rash-face all the danged time??? Ugh. I guess I'll have to do some more work on my own. Like washing the burp cloths differently.

I like her. I just feel like I should like my sons' doctor more. Ya know?

The doctor put Dalton on the exam table to check out some of his developmental stuff/motor skills like his head control and if he lifts his head while on his tummy. When she put him on his tummy he rolled over (Easton did the same thing at that same adjusted age). The doctor was quite impressed and I mentioned he'd been doing that for awhile and "at first I thought he was top heavy" and she interrupted with "He did that intentionally" and remarked about how controlled the movement was. She impressed him all around. My kids are quite the specimens when it comes to physical milestones and abilities. Wonder why? Anyway...

So, Dalton was due for 3 shots. I warned Easton that Dalton would be getting them and that he wouldn't like them so he would cry. But I knew Mr. Sensie would still get uncomfortable about his brother being in pain. He was. And Dalton certainly was. Oh my gosh, he got sooooo mad. He turned bright red and stopped breathing for a sec to really get loud. It took awhile to calm him. He doesn't seem quite as tough as his big brother was/is....yet. :) That reminds me: Dalton was watching his mobile in his crib today while I finished getting ready to leave the house this morning. Big brother Easton stood on the rail watching as he often does. Pretty soon I heard a wail. Easton had pulled part of the mobile down which accidentally landed on Dalton's head. Dalton had a little red bonk mark on his forehead. I know it was an accident but Easton still shouldn't have been messing with the mobile. I made him apologize. He was very concerned anyway. But back to the appointment...

Tina the Worthless M.A. brought me a syringe full of Tylenol to give Dalton for his post-shot pain and such. I asked, "What's the dose for his weight?" and she said, "Oh...let me go get a doseage chart." Uh, didn't she just fill the syringe and should know how much she put in there? Grrr. I told her, "Nevermind. I have one at home I just thought you'd know." Whatever.

After the appointment we went to meet J for smoothies. Easton went to the counter with Jason and "ordered". He said, "Smudahs (smoothies). Da red and a yellow one." Ha! Just love him. When we were in the car he'd take a sip and then say, "Dada's/Mama's turn" and we'd sip then he'd say, "Eastie's turn" and kept going. He heard me on the phone telling my mom about Dalton's shots and he said, "Brudder's owie beaning". Beaning apparently means "bleeding". And they bled a lot. Tina the Not-So-Great mentioned that he was "a bleeder". Lovely.

Well, we're home and Easton was historically a great sleeper after his shots. Wonder if history will repeat itself the way it did with the boys rolling over on the exam tables at a mere 2 months? We shall see. You can expect I'll let you know. A few pics...

Evidence of the "shootings"--2 in one thigh, 1 in the other. Poor baby. I was more worried about how it was "damaging" Easton, though.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
And the still-concerned big brother:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

We're all set to have a beautiful weekend but have to spend it watching Easton on the news (hopefully) tomorrow a.m. along with the NFL draft and fixing the broken house. We discoverd quite a bit of water on Easton's floor coming in from the outside. Great. And Jason was all excited to play Thomas with Easton in front of the tube. Shucks. It's great being homeowners.

Not Much Time

We just got home from our Gymsters TV appearance and I got E down for his nap (D is up). I've got to wake Easton soon to leave for Dalton's 2 month well-baby visit. But, I'm so dedicated that here I sit for a quick post.

Easton had his regular yogurt yesterday. Then we went to the store and bought more (among other things) and he begged to eat another one when we came home. I let him feed it to himself at the table. We think he looks like a picky Frenchman:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
He ate the whole thing. Then Jason got home and Easton asked for another one. He ate at least half of it. I discourgaed the whole thing because I was making our healthy macaroni dinner. The tofu kind. Oh well. We're fans of him eating. Period. So, dinner rolls around, and you wouldn't believe how much food that dude put awaay. It was unreal. Most of it was "bocky" (broccoli). He ate soooo much. We would've been impressed even if he hadn't just downed one and a half yogurts.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Impressive. And he wanted to "show Dalton" how he ate broccoli so well.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Dalton was proud too:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I think it goes without saying that Easton deserved some dessert after that performance so he had a large hunk of J's chocolate dipped peanut butter cookie. I thought he might yak simply from being soooo full. He didn't.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
He did have to go straight up for his bath though. No picking up toys. No somersaults on the carpet. No story. He didn't mind. He liked seeing his messy face on the camera screen and he had a fun bath. Then it was time for the brothers to say goodnight:

Then it was time for D's bath:

He went to bed. We watched Survivor and Scrubs. Then I went to bed. The end. Gotta go now. The appointment...I'll try to update soon. Poor baby needs shots. :(

Discipline Junkie

Okay, our son is officially a weirdo. You 'member how I told you how he would want Lauren or The Maws to tell him "no" even after I'd just said no? Yesterday we went to Old Navy and he had found a dice (technically just one die) someone had left in the cart. He decided to put it in his mouth. I told him that was gross because we found it there and "No mouth." He did it again. "Easton, NO mouth." Then Easton looked at the 18 year old dude checking us out and said, "No mouth" so I had to explain, "He wants you to tell him not to put that in his mouth." So, bless his pimply-faced self he said, "Oh...no mouth" and Easton stopped. Grrrr. Same thing when Max and Susannah were here today. He wanted Susannah to tell him no. Then he listened. Jason was like, "Are we not disciplining him enough?" I don't know the answer to that. I feel like we do fine and he is certainly a very well-behaved tot as far as tots go. I've never heard of a kid doing something like this to even know what to do.

He is such a discipline junkie that he was telling Max, "No throw animals, Max" because Susannah was telling Max not to throw the animals. I said, "Easton it is not your job to tell Max 'no'". That was probably a little complicated for him to understand but whatever. I changed it to, "Do not yell at Max" even though he wasn't really yelling so much as using his firm tone. Then he took to being a little tattle tale. What is up with him?

Anyway, the boys did have some fun. First they played in the backyard with balls and such. Eastie picked me dandilions. Sweet boy.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
We came inside later and Max wanted to watch Little Einsteins on TiVo. So we did. Then they left. Easton was so excited to play with someone. We rewound the TiVo a bit and Easton watched the last little bit while he ate his yogurt. Then he got up to dance during part of it:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Dalton enjoyed being a part of it all too:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

As Easton was supposed to be falling asleep for his nap he started crying. I went up there and he asked for a paci. He had to give his up nearly a year ago. But, Max has one. And Dalton has one. So he wanted one too I guess. I told him he had his Cuddles. Then he was fine. Strange.

So, back to yesterday...the boys got packages in the mail:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
The Alabamaws send something about once a month and it's always fun to see what's inside. Easton scored a cool new Play-Doh accessory with more dough.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
And some plastic farm animals which he was very excited about.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
He asked his dad to "play animals" this morning but J had to go to work. Then he was exicted Max was coming because he wanted to play animals with Max. But Max was in to other things. Like going outside.

Dalton got himself some little animals to hang on his carseat or wherever--he loves looking up at stuff, that's for sure.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
And a stuffed football because he is a little linebacker:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

They both got new oufits too. Here are the shirts:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Thank you Maws!!

We played around with E's bedtime since his crowing at the crack of dawn isn't so much fun. Last night we tried 7:30 and he went right down. Then woke at 5:40 but I was able to talk him into going back to sleep after he insisted I sing his song. I whispered it in his ear but he kept telling me to sing it loud until I did. Goof.

Before I go, Jason wanted to dig up old photos of his cousin since she posted the hair one (did y'all see J's comment yesterday? Amusing.) This is mostly for Britten and perhaps The Maws, but check out the uncanny resemblence between baby Britty and her son Wren:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Wow. Looks like the same kid with more hair.

Okay, I guess that'll do it. Dalton needs a milking. Vaya con leche.
