Guest What We Found Out This Morning!!!!

3 kids under 3?!?! Holy crap...my doctor is going to freak out--I'm supposed to wait 6 weeks before resuming any kind of "relations". Not to mention this will mean more than 1 C-section in a year. We are seriously the most fertile people on the planet...as you all know from the blog, Jason's birthday wasn't all that long ago and... I just haven't been feeling "right" the last few days and we had some leftover tests from before soooo...

Okay, that is too obvious of an April Fools joke isn't it? A joke was Jason's idea...the pregnancy part too. I hate April Fools jokes, especially if they're played on me, that's why I wouldn't let that one go on too long. Okay, I'm done...now the real updates. I wasn't lying when I said I haven't been feeling "right". All of us are sick. Yup, even baby Dalton. But, let's backtrack a little first...

So, Friday Dalton starts coughing and sneezing. Newborns really aren't "supposed" to get sick...they're supposed to have my immunities leftover from pregnancy or something. So, it was a little alarming to have him start showing symptoms. We decided not to go anywhere all day Friday and 3 of us stayed home in our jammies. Well, Dalton and I did. Easton simply took his off:

I tried for us to just take it easy and we watched a bunch of TV. Lovely.

That night we put Easton to bed just 15 minutes early. And Baby Dalton spent the entire night either on my chest or nestled in the crook of my arm. He seemed pretty miserable if he wasn't in either of those places. Boy it can be quite uncomfortable to position yourself like that alllll night. I woke up pretty sore and had a headache most of the day, probably from muscle sorness in my neck and such. Oh well...the things we do for our babies, eh?

Easton blessed us by sleeping in till 8 that morning. Guess who's going to bed 15 minutes early as his new bedtime till it stops working? :)

Saturday (yesterday) morning I officially decided Dalton had his first cold, his cough was becoming more "productive" so I called the doctor. Not that I was all that worried about him yet, but because he is less than 3 months old "they" say you should call the doctor at the "first signs of illness". They have Saturday office hours so I didn't hesitate to call at all. Basically the doctor agreed that he didn't need to be seen because he's still feeding and peeing and doesn't have a fever. However, it was that same sub-par "assistant" I talked to and she never called back to tell me any of that. I had to have the doctor paged later in the day to find all that out. Ugh. She drives me nuts.

"Feel better soon, brother."

Well, I didn't want to take Dalton out if he was sick (just more germs to fight off out there) but I needed to run to Target so I put D down for a nap and Easton and I went shopping. Kinda nice to be with just Easton again. I hope he thought so too. We bought a few things up at Target including another baby monitor to try out. If we're going to move Dalton we have to figure this out. But, most cheap monitors work on the same frequency so we have "issues" with all of them so far. Well, "all" meaning the two we've tried.

However, we set up Dizzle-bug's little room anyway. Easton helped Daddy with the crib:

Jason wanted to rearrange the furniture from how we had it for Easton, just to make it more special or different. I wasn't against it, just wasn't seeing it. Apparently it didn't look good so it is arranged just how it was for Easton...only the name on the wall is different (by 2 letters):

Our solution for the monitor:

That's one base positioned attractively in the middle of the hall so we can hear both boys out of one monitor. Someone online gave me that idea.

We gave Dalton his 2nd tub bath last night and then put him to bed in his own room for the very first time. He went to sleep really easily (but he had been up a looooong time before that). Then we had this plan for me to go to bed and Jason to stay up like he often does. Before Jason came to bed he woke Dalton and fed him a bottle of breastmilk, hopefully buying me a little more sleep time. Nice, eh? I slept so soundly without Dalton next to me which surprised me a little. We really tested out the monitor so I was sure I'd hear either kid if I needed to. And I did. Around 12:30 I heard Jason in with Dizzle and then J came to bed. About 3 hours later Dalton cried for me but really wasn't all that interested in eating. I put him back in his bed till 5:30 when he really did want to eat. Then at 6:30 he decided he was lonely or something so I brought him into bed with us until Easton woke us at 8. Yes, at 8 again! Woo hoo! Not too bad for D's first night "away".

This morning he watched his mobile for the first time:

With a helpful big brother looking on to point out various features:

Then, Easton did the sweetest thing: he pulled a book off the shelf and sat in the chair and read it to Dalton, "Pigs, Dalton" he said.

Then he got up and showed him the pictures. He is a better big brother than I'd even imagined he'd be. Truly. I'd expected the transition to 2 to go pretty much as it's gone. Luckily our experience with Baby John helped me figure out how to handle 2 at once and to know what to expect. I even expected
Easton to regress a little as he has (good thing we hadn't tried potty training yet). Of course you can't picture exactly how it's all going to go and I certainly didn't expect him to be quite as sweet to Dalton as he's been. It's so great to see. I knew he'd be a good big brother, but he's a great big brother instead.

When we were looking at houses before we bought this one, Jason always liked the houses where he could stand in the hall and talk to both kids in their rooms at once. And now he can, see?

Well, tomorrow Easton has his long awaited appointment with the pediatric opthalmologist about his blocked tear duct. Jason has graciously offered to work from home in the morning and watch Dalton. When I made the appointment (back in January) they warned me that the first appointment could be as long as 3 hours!!! With 2 kids? And both of 'em are sick? No thanks. Jason offered to stay with D even before he got sick...I pumped out plenty of milk this morning for them so I think that's what we'll do.

Anyway, this post has been long enough...that's what happens when I take a day off blogging though, eh? Happy April Fools, everyone!

Can't fool me! :) Even if you WERE pregnant, I knew you wouldn't be sharing the news for many a-week to come! Just not like you! Nice try though! :P Sorry you've all got a case of the sickie! That's certainly no fun! Hang in there!

So I haven't even finished reading your post yet. I just have to say that was MEAN, MEAN, MEAN! Okay, actually it was pretty funny, but I was freaking out for a second. Even the thought of someone else getting pregnant so soon after a baby made my heart flutter! :)

You had me for a second...actually, just long enough for me to see the photos and say "Oh my freaking..." and then I caught on. But tell Jason it was a good try. :)

You got us SO good. We were like "how in the hell?", and "what?", and we were trying to do the calculations.... I thought to myself, this really is not Krisitins style (of telling). So then I said to JOhn, "Let me read on, she'll give loads of details" and what do you know you did. HAHAHAHA. You guys are crack ups. We did not even realize it was April fools day till you told us.
