Bee in my Bonnet

Another mostly good morning 'round here. Easton did a lot of independent play this morning while I continued with my recent sudden desire to deep clean our laundry room. Last night I had J pull the washer and dryer out and I cleaned under and behind them. I even took out the lint trap and washed it.

Today I cleaned the rest of the area including the tops of the machines and inside the lid of the washer, I washed the rug that we keep in there, cleaned the floors.... What has gotten into me?

Since it might not look this way ever again, I took pics:

And after I took those pics I went back and cleaned the door and the walls. My little shadow decided he wanted to pitch in:

Even though we were in our jammies, I put on some flip flops because I hate when floor gunk sticks to my bare feet. So, I noticed Easton donned some shoes as well. Then I had a rag and was working on a spot on the wall. Easton decided to grab a "rag" too (my just washed hand towel from the kitchen!) and went to work on the wall as well. He loves helping. Although in that above picture he's crying, "No Mama's camera!" He didn't want pictures of the cleaned space, I guess. Party pooper. Good thing he's not the boss of me because I know you're all very happy to see my laundry room. :)

Last night was another rough one for Dalton. I kept him swaddled all night though so he woke frequently but never did a lot of "playing". We gave the boys another shared bath last night. Since Dalton is doing better with his sitting we just stuck him in with E:

Aren't we fun?

In other news, I still have a bum knee. I really should go to the doctor but I'm currently quite confused about our insurance situation. Plus, I know a doctor would ask, "What did you do to it?" Hmmmm, good question. I really doubt the co-sleeping months ago is what injured it but I have no other answer. They'd probably just tell me to take something for the swelling. Especially if I went to the family practice doc I take the boys to. But, it is swollen, it hurts to use it, hurts to bend it, and just feels generally unstable. I think I need a new one.

I've already become a pill popper for swelling issues. Actually something I want to swell: the milkers. I started taking Fenugreek (an herb with the "side effect" of boosting milk supply). Dalton is a very distractable fellow when it comes to meal time lately. And it's hard to always try to kick Easton out of D's room at nursing time. So...he doesn't eat as much as he could/should and I've noticed my milk supply dwindling. Especially towards bedtime when I really want him getting a full feeding. I nursed him well last night and then he gulped down 4 ounces of expressed milk too. He's a hungry dude. Clearly he's getting enough to eat overall...you can see that in his rolls. But he doesn't sleep through the night and I have to wonder if that's maybe part of it (I know it's not all of it, I know!). Also, I no longer have any milk stored up in the freezer for babysitters/me times. And, it's about time to start Dalton on solids (6 months for us). I made most of Easton's baby food and I like to use fresh expressed milk as the liquid in the purees I make. I'm very excited to start making baby food again. I loved doing it for Easton. And he had such a great diet back then. Too bad he started refusing purees around 12 months. Started refusing a lot of stuff around that first birthday, the stinker.

Anyway, I pump after each feeding and am looking to store that. Fenugreek is used to artifically flavor "maple" syrup so after just 2 does (4 pills) I'm already smelling like pancakes. It's good stuff.

I'm so glad Easton's currently napping. He had me worried for about 45 minutes but he's been quiet for awhile now. Whew. I'm really loving his verbalness right now. Life is so much more amusing with him around. The other night he was up on the back of the couch tormenting/playing with Blitz. Well, Blitz started to get tired of it and got a little rough so Easton told him, "Okay, Bits. I'm going to get down now. Good night." And when we were checking out at the library the other day Easton all of a sudden exclaimed, "Mama, I need something!" And when I asked what that was he came up with, "I need...some food!" So we came home and had some.

Jason's on his own with the boys' routine for the first time tonight. Wish him luck as these two can be tricky with the sleeping lately.

Oooooh! Looks nice!

Good luck with the milk. I had to supplement Nathan with formula...he would nurse a goodly amount on each side and then need a chaser of formula. When I would pump I'd get 8 oz at least, so I know he was getting milk! He was just a hungry guy! He weaned himself at about 8 months.

Look at that laundry room! As sterile as a doctor's office, I'm sure. Care to come help me with mine next? It could definitely use some work.

I bet the boys enjoyed their bath together. Adam loves bathing with his cousins. He's been missing that since we've been back home from the lake.

Hope the fenugreek helps out with your milk supply. Never heard about the pancake smell. Mmmmm....pancakes!

Are you having a mom's night out tonight? Have fun!
