You'll have to forgive for not posting at naptime yesterday. I was here instead:
At the tippy top of the ferris wheel with my oldest boy.
I took him to Six Flags for some "E time" yesterday. The night before was the night my awesome mama came and crashed in D's room so I could sleep. It went pretty well and I am extremely grateful. Then she was gonna hang out with D during the day so I could do something special with just Easton again. I picked Six Flags. I went online to make sure he could do kiddie land...it said he had to be under 54". It did not mention that for a lot of the kiddie rides he needed to be at least 36" tall. He is not. We squeaked by on a few of them because I would just carry him on rather than having him walk by their measurers. If I felt his safety was truly in danger on any of them, of course I wouldn't have put him on. For example, we didn't even try to get him on to their kiddie coaster. And the poor kid knew, "Easton too short".
We still had lots of fun for two. We did most of their kiddie land...Or Startoon Studios, I guess it's called. We took in a couple of shows...one lame kiddie land one. We walked out during it. Boring! Then we went to see a better one with BMX and skateboard stunts, breakdancing, and drumlines. Oh, and pyrotechnics. Much more up our alley.
But, let me let some of the picures do the talking...
Just arriving:
Our first ride (the spinning balloons):
The bus ride which does a bit o' free-falling:
The swings which he clearly rode, then later when we went back the same guy told us he was "too tiny":
I love this one of him on the planes:
And this one:
Easton was the only kid who couldn't pull the lever back to make the plane actually go up in the air:
Oh well.
The boats:
Bell ringing:
In the video clip from this ride (you'll see later) he makes sure to steer on both wheels. And ring the bell. He's so cute.
They have a big room with foam balls and really strong air guns and stuff. They have slides to get you from the top levels back down to the bottom so here is E arriving back down at the bottom:
He really liked that area.
Back on the bus ride:
Venturing out of kiddie land to the "real" rides. E's first spin on a ferris wheel:
Normally I'm afraid of heights while in ferris wheels. This time I was fine. Yay me. Maybe because I didn't want to show Easton to be afraid?
Stopping for a drink of water and to look at a fountain. Ferris wheel in the background:
The kiddie rides are definitely not designed with parents' comfort in mind so I had to squeeze my long legs into the train. Sitting across from poor Easton meant my knees were all up in his grill:
The lame show, he's little so he thought it was okay even if I hated it:
The girl in it was a horrible dancer (not even trying) and would check out her nails when it wasn't her turn to speak. What the heck?
So we left for the "X-city" show.
Easton liked it a lot and when it was all done he said, "Easton's turn". I guess we'd been standing around waiting for our turn on the rides and such that he wanted a turn on the bikes and basketball too.
Another "real" ride...the teacups:
My make-shift lap belt:
That little dude can really fly around on some of those spinny rides.
After that it was finally getting sunny--all day it had been a very pleasant and overcast 73-76 degrees. So, now that the sun was out and we were getting warm we decided to head to the water park part of Six Flags. We changed and were there all of 15 minutes, maybe. It was freezing (even to me with my "insulation"). Easton didn't really want to leave but he was nearly convulsing with cold:
So we got dressed and went to one more ride (by the exit).
And some video clips from our super-fun day:

Easton was getting sooooo tired:

All the fun we had went right out the window as we were getting into the car. I had been carrying him and I set him down right next to the car so I could get the keys out of my backpack. Now, I know he's only two and a half, but he's shown me an ability to stay safe by the car in the past so over time I've let my guard down a little, as you do when you trust someone. Well, the overtired stinker decided that when I said, "Stay next to Mommy" that actually meant "take off running away from Mommy". I had to dash after him in between the side mirrors of two cars, totally smacking into them with my backpack and not caring a bit. I needed to "save" my son. He actually made it into the "road" and I am just so, so thankful no cars were coming. I was SO mad at Easton that he should be really glad I'm not a spanker. I would've tanned his little backside for that. And now he gets no more "benefit of the doubt" when it comes to obeying me in those situations. Not for awhile. I'm really not liking this new defiant Easton. Anyway, he fell asleep in the car:

He was out. I actually stopped by Wal-Mart and he stayed asleep on my shoulder through the entire store, putting him back in the carseat, all the way until we got home. If you knew Easton and what a light sleeper he was you'd be surprised. I was in awe the whole time. He must've been really worn out.
My mom and Dalton did great. I couldn't have been happier for how it went. My mom rocks. Thank you, Moo! Even though I had just left Wal-Mart I had totally forgotten to get Easton more yogurt. So, since Easton wouldn't let me even talk about leaving my mom offered to run to get him some yogurt. Then Easton wanted to go with her. Crazy kid. I can't leave but he can. Stinker. He devoured 3 yogurts when they got back. Amazing.
And little Dizzlebug felt left out of the ride fun. So, he got to do a ride at home:

I'm hoping there's going to be some long-term benefits to this time with E as I'm not seeing any improvements currently. He's continuing to be quite defiant, clingy, and moody. We've got to turn this around soon!

What an awesome day you guys had!Except for the sneaking away by the car part...that would have scared me to death too.
The pictures are great and you can tell what a FUN time the two of you had together. That is so special!
You put mine and Adam's ferris wheel ride to shame. It was only about 1/4 that big. Wish we had a Six Flags near us!
When you didn't post yesterday I thought, "she's either have a really rough day or a really fun day." I'm glad it was the latter!
It looks like your had a wonderful day. Looks like E sure had a blast. He was smiling from ear to ear.
