We pulled out the decorations last night. We have the world's saddest tree. This will be his last year with us. I married into this thing. With as much as Jason's ex loves to shop I'm surprised this is all they had...then again she liked to travel for the holidays and anytime in between. But that's another story...
Here is Jason and Dalton starting with the lights:
My Diddle Cole checking out his very first Christmas tree:
We only have one pair of these so they made the rounds...
Well, they made the rounds till Dalton pulled off a pair of jingle bells which Jason had to pry from his mouth. Eek!
He looks more like an elf than Santa:
This is also probably the last year for our star too:
Checking out the tree some more:
Trying to pose:
My Nutcracker collection...I think I'm blocking this year's addition...the M&M we got in Kansas City:
Jason said, "I need something festive" and put on these antlers. Then felt the urge to scratch them on the tree. Very authentic.
Now that the lights were on it was time for the ornaments. We have a tradition to get a new ornament for everyone each year. My mom got the boys their ornaments this year. This is Easton's...
And this is Dizzle's:
Eassie Bug got to hang his first:
Then Dizz:
Then we, but mostly E, went to town hanging some other stuff. I just wasn't as into it this year. Probably because of our sad little tree.
Hanging things on the tree reminded me of last year when my sister handed Easton some gift bags to put under the tree and he hung them on the tree. Good times.
Little D has a pout going on. He was so frustrated he couldn't pull up on the ornament tote...it kept tipping over instead:
At one point Easton said, "I just need to take a rest"
Whatever dude.
Daddy and Diddle:
And the finished product. But nothing to really say, "Ta Da!" over. :(
We're thinking of trying to get a tree for next year once the sales start. For some reason I'm bucking for a pre-lit tree, even though I'm not the one that does the lights. I just want a nice full tree that's not skinnier than me. :)

Beautiful! My mom does ornaments for the kiddos, too. Fun tradition. Nathan loves that he has SO many and Katie only has two. LOL. He will always win that competition, he got a head start! He also does the "I need to take a rest." thing. Silly boys!
Jason is SO silly with the antler scratching. Very clever.
I think your skinny little tree is cute, but I can see why you'd want something a little larger. We always did the annual ornaments growing up. I love that tradition. Someone also gave Matt & I an ornament shower when we got engaged. At the time I thought it was kind of silly, but I love that we have so many ornaments now...especially ones that symbolize our love.
Easton is so cute, showing off the nutcrackers with you. And I love Dalton's face when he's hanging his ornament...priceless!
Glad there were some pictures of you too! Did you finally ask Jason to take some? lol
Your sweater is really cute. Where did you get it?
You're obviously not the only one that can't shut up in the comment section. :)
So I've got to give you Adam's commentary on the pictures.
When he saw Easton with the reindeer antlers he said (in a scary voice), "Oh, he's a DRAGON MAN!"
When he saw Dalton with them he said "Ohhhh, look how cute!" :)
I think your tree looks great. It is very personalized and I like that! Too bad you don't live closer as we are actually getting rid of our tree after this year. We have really, really tall ceilings so we are wanting something to look more proprotinate (sp?) in that room.
I too was going to ask about the sweater. I like!
Hey it is a very respectful tree! You did a fantastic job! I'm all about the pre-lit variety baby! lol MAtthew would die over your nutcracker collection!! He's a total fan! In fact he just insisted on taking his nutcracker to show and share today!
