One day around Halloween Easton remarked, "I love bats, they're so nice. They can't even hurt you!" and I said, "They can hurt you, Buddy, if they bite you...like Blitz hurts when he bites you." And he corrected me with, "Actually, they don't bite, Mommy. Bats are friendly!" Well, maybe if you're Batman.
Noticing a new Dollar Tree store in the area I said, "Oh wow! There's a Dollar Tree there now." After a few minutes had passed Easton said, "I could climb up there." And I asked, "Climb up where?" and he replied, "To get the dollar. 'Cause I'm a monkey. Ooooo ahhhhhh!" "Oh! Climb the Dollar Tree." Hee hee.
Easton has been obsessed with "No" signs for awhile now:
He likes to shout out "No Smoking!" when he sees that sign (don't even know where he learned it). Or "No Parking" when he sees those. He spent an entire afternoon obsessing over the "In case of a fire take the stairs" signs on elevators and was certain he kept hearing fires, firemen, and firetrucks and that we'd need to run down the stairs as quickly as possible. His latest funny was wanting me to tell him what this meant:
Wanting to encourage some independent thinking and problem solving I asked him to look at the picture inside and tell me what he thought it could mean. He considered it for a moment before guessing, "Um, no falling from the sky?"
Dalton now tells us "I love you!" I know we tell our children this often because he's got it down. When he's telling one of us goodbye he often volunteers, "Bye! I yuh you!" Or at bedtime, I always lay him in his bed and tell him, "Night night" and he always says it right back...then one of us adds an "I yuh you" and the other echos it back before I leave him for the night. Sweet boy.
I like how he added in a "Mama" for the video. :)
Dalton also tells us when he's having a good time. He'll shout out "Fun!" and we'll go, "Fun? Was that fun?" and he goes, "Yep."
When Dalton really wants something he points at it and says what sounds like "Yellow." We cannot figure it out (why he says it or what he's trying to say), but that's what he always does.
And finally, today (November 15) marks the day Dalton climbed, or rather fell out of his crib for the first time. He'd better not try that again or he's getting a tent topper, we are soooooo not ready for that little stinker to be in a bed yet. He wanted a pillow in bed with him for his nap, and it seems it used it as a step to help him climb out. I just didn't think he was the climber type, Easton sure, but not my Diddles. I was wrong.

Cute, cute! I am dreading the day Graham learns to climb out of his crib ... not even close to ready to convert the crib to a toddler bed yet!
Oh, that video! My heart! What a sweet little Diddlebug.
That video is the cutest thing. I hope Dalton doesn't try that stunt again.
Dalton is too cute.
That melted my heart...
Oh, that video....so, so sweet. It actually made me a little teary!
I love that Easton thought that sign meant no falling from the sky. Very funny!
Eeek! I am all for a "circus tent" too! If Luke tries it, off to BRU I go :)
My dear friends son was / is nuts over signs too!
He has since he was about 3 and he now 6! Each birthday cake each year is a different sign. :)
