Our Weekend

Friday we did indeed go out to dinner. TGI Friday's. In the car on the way there, Easton stuck his finger in Dalton's mouth. So Dalton bit him. Hard. And later Easton decided to pay him back. Grrr. I wish I could separate them sometimes. It reminded me of this YouTube that AJ forwarded me awhile ago:

Easton thought that was a hilarious video when we saw it but did not find it funny when I asked him if "Charlie" bit him.

Dinner was fine, there was a balloon animal guy working his way around the tables but Easton decided to pull his dentist/turtle move and wouldn't even talk to the guy. So he didn't get a balloon which he was actually just fine with. But Dalton got a blue puppy. He unwound it all at the table and then popped it on the way home. Good times.

Saturday I did some shopping by myself in the morning which was quite nice, then ran home to nurse Dalton and put him down for a nap then I went back out briefly to the post office. All kid-less. Which can be quite nice. Sure did get a lot more done in a shorter amount of time!

That afternoon we went to a nearby park to play and we met a family who recommended the exact same preschool the lady from Wal-Mart recommended the other day! How crazy is that? So we're going to check it out later this week, actually. At the park, the kid we met was riding a bike. So we were determined to try again with Easton and his tricycle. After dinner we went for a stroll and dare I say it, but I think he may finally be getting the hang of pedaling!

Apparently steering and pedaling are two separate things, however...he can't do both yet. *sigh*

On Sunday Jason tried out another church, but after just the worship part of the service he knew it wasn't a fit for us, so he left. And we finally got our free bagels with that coupon! While he was gone I weeded out clothes that no longer fit from the boys' closets. I unpacked some a few other things that might fit now, including some shoes for my new walker. I put them on him and helped him to walk and it was hilarious. He was taking gigantic steps--like a dog would if you put shoes on it. They'll definitely take some getting used to once we're ready:

Jason came home and did a little work in the yard, Easton and I played blanket games:

The boys and I were in p.j.'s most of the day.

While I was getting dinner ready, the guys all hung out in Easton's room with the K'Nex. Jason made Easton a deal that if he could make one of the "creatures" from a picture, all by himself, then we'd go out for ice cream...it really wasn't as pressured as it sounds, we were merely encouraging him to try something by himself. Well...
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

He did it!
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

See it in the picture...sort of.

So, it wasn't exact, but all the pieces were right. Woo hoo! Go, E!

Dalton was happy too:

So, to Cold Stone we went. Easton got his own strawberry ice cream with sprinkles:

I got what Jason called the "AJ Special" because it was chocolate and peanut butter and I had that at their house. My healthy husband and baby boy shared some raspberry sorbet with strawberries:

This morning we woke to a little snow on the ground...not fun because we have to park on the driveway since our garage door broke yesterday. Boo. Jason had to manually lift the heavy door and hold it while I got the cars out. But we still went on our usual Monday doughnut run and after breakfast Easton was chomping at the bit to go play outside:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
There was not much snow so mostly he just got muddy. But he had fun till he got too cold, I guess. Or bored.

The boys are doing their quiet time and I s'pose we should head out for groceries later but I have no clue what's on the menu this week. Must figure that out. But first, a few mealtime movies from sometime recently. :)

Toodles!

Wow, I'm On Top of Things

Another current post. Go me!

So....let's see, we slept till after 8 again today. Loving that. Although I was up a lot with Dalton and once with Easton who was wide awake around 5:30. But luckily he went back to sleep for quite awhile.

As I was getting ready this morning, Dalton decided to do handstands in the bathtub:

That was the third time he did it, and the point at which I ran to get my camera. Easton kept wanting to rescue him:

After breakfast I hung up my phone and I guess I was a little too excited (I was talking to AJ) and my phone broke:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
It had been on the verge of falling apart for quite some time now, I could always put it back together. But this time the screen went blank and I couldn't get it back. :( We don't get new phones till, like, July so I had to resurrect a very old phone in order to have something. We don't have a landline so I need a working cell phone.

Easton, in his heroic mood and Buzz costume, pulled a stool up to the counter and said, "What seems to be the problem?" Mr. Fix It. He's such a goob.

We ran some errands this morning including stopping at Starbucks so I could fork over my .46 cent gift card as well as $3.72 on my credit card. But, one card down, nineteen to go. I can do it. Eventually. :)

Our last stop this morning was to the bagel shop. I have a coupon for 6 free bagels. I went to redeem it the other day (might have been yesterday, I forget) but I forgot they close at 3:00, and we arrived at 3:10. Dang it! Well, today we went again (it's not exactly nearby) and we were waiting for our turn to order. Easton was cute in his Buzz costume and sat down at a table across from his Buzz "doll". But he got bored, so then he was under the table which I don't allow him to be on the floor like that at a restaurant, and then he stuck himself in between the table and the window and was just generally not being a good listener. So I took Buzz. And he threw a fit, so I threatened to leave, and he threw himself on the floor after saying, "I'm going to be a good listener". Hmmm, my yelling child on the floor didn't seem like "good listening" to me...so we left. Bagel-less. Again.

Darn it, I want my free bagels.

We're going out to dinner tonight. Yay! And I think we've got some shopping to do this afternoon. That's about it from us! Bye!

Caught Up

Well, would you have a look at that:

A post from today!

Yes, folks, I am all caught up. On most things anyway. Somehow I haven't worked in that the boys have both been sleeping till nearly 8 or even a little later these days. Ahhhh, the time change keeps it nice and dark in the mornings for them. And Easton is continuing to "keep [him]self so dry" in his underpants at night. He seems to be over his dino fear...the constant dinosaur worries lasted maybe 3 whole days, then a few more days of mentioning them once or twice, and now he seems to have moved on.

Dalton, on the other hand, is getting his first molar. It is hurting him and it's just so sad to hear him cry out in pain in his sleep several times a night. And then there's the extra time he's needing comforting to get back to sleep with those ouchie toofers. Teething totally bites.

Well, let's see, this morning we got up around 8-ish. Dalton a little later. E and I made chocolate chocolate chip muffins from a mix for breakfast. Easton ate two and said, "I love brownies!" Hmmmm, chocolate chocolate chip is probably not the best choice for a breakfast muffin. Oh well, they were good.

Easton also got a gift that the Easter Bunny forgot to put in his basket: a Buzz Jibbitz for his fake croc shoes. He's happy, 'bout that!

After breakfast we headed down to the Colorado Mills mall. Easton is getting too tall for most of his 2T pants, but it's nearly summer so there's not a lot out there in the pants department and of course I don't want to buy much right now anyway for just a few months. I ended up getting one pair of jammies and one pair of pants. I'm not sure if he has shirts to match the pants, but I bought pants. And I'll just have to stay really on top of the laundry as we rotate between the few things that fit him. Till summer that is. When we can break out the plaid shorts, right? :) He was a good boy though and was promised a ride on the carousel if he was good at the mall:

Clearly, he behaved himself. Dalton was cranky but lit up when he saw the carousel. They're too cute.

I also have yet to mention that Jason and I have become fans of both "The Office" and "LOST". We're getting caught up and are in Season 3 of The Office. We watch it online and then the first disc of Season 3 of LOST should arrive from Netflix tomorrow. We really like The Office, we're thinking LOST is getting kinda dumb and a little too far-fetched but AJ says to stick with it because Season 4 (that's on TV now) is supposedly really good. So we're hanging in there. We've heard they lost some viewers (PaPaw) during Season 3 and we would've probably bailed during the end of Season 2 if we weren't watching them back to back like we are.

Well, quiet time appears to have ended as Dalton is awake. We're off to pick up some hash browns for tonight's "breakfast for dinner". Mmmmm.

Wednesday

This morning passed so quickly, I don't even know why. We didn't get out in the morning. But after quiet time we went to Kohl's to make a return, the grocery store for some mint (Dalton got to ride the penny pony for the first time!), and then we stopped by the little park. Easton was in his Buzz costume the whole time. Oh, and he began referring to me as "Lady Buzz Lightyear":

Afterwards we came home and Buzz got to have a popsicle as it is quickly becoming popsicle weather:

Poor Dizz was stuck inside with me and Cheerios with side of water:

Chewsday (Isn't it annoying when people pronounce it like that?)

On Tuesday we decided to try the library's story time for the older crowd. Even though it's supposed to be geared for the "3 and up" preschool set, the stories were still a little long for Easton. And definitely too long for Dalton. But after the stories (one was about Curious George and a kite) the kids went over to make kite pictures:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I like the really short tails on Easton's kites and how he got a little carried away with that "E" he drew...his version is more like two "E"s on top of each other. The cotton balls are clouds if you couldn't tell. Miss Jenny seemed to think green clouds were an appropriate option.

We did our Wal-Marting that afternoon and the woman behind us in line told me, "I can tell you stay home with them." I later found out she meant that as a compliment. Then she told me about a "well kept secret" preschool she works at in the area. I might look into it for fall. Part-time for E.

This one is stuck with me awhile longer:

Random Chore Day

Monday continues to be doughnut day, so we did that, of course. You wanna know something sad? We keep our thermostat set at 72 or 73 and Easton (Mr. Skinny) still gets cold:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Dalton does fine, oh and I don't let him eat doughunts yet...he's having a plain piece of bread:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Dizz had two naps that day Easton spent some time playing games at NickJr.com...
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

...while I tackled some random chores...like running the self-cleaning feature on my oven and doing some major deep cleaning on my stove top, and under it, and the burners. Doesn't it look sparkly, though?
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
My next stove will have a flat cook top. They look nicer to clean to me. :)

I also took on the very bizarre task of going through my collection of gift cards. "Pick a card, any card..."
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Would you believe those cards there hold a total of $518.24 on them? I called all the phone numbers or went to the websites to figure out all my remaining balances on them. Some have a mere .46 (Starbucks) while still others have $50-$100 on them. Would you believe that at least two of those are housewarming gifts to me and my ex husband??? I had to throw away 2 cards, one isn't a store anymore and one depleted itself with too much time passing. Looks like I've got some shopping to do, eh? The restaurants are hard because we have, like, $3.58 left for Olive Garden so it's not like we'll make a special trip to use it up when we'll have to pitch in so much of our own money. Pretty crazy, though. I love gift cards. Clearly. I guess I hate to see 'em go.

In between D's naps we made a run to the Dollar Tree...I told the boys they could pick out whatever they wanted. Easton picked out some giant bugs that were supposed to "walk" down the glass. But they didn't. They were broken and I felt sad for him. But he was a trooper about it because we also got a Spiderman pail and shovel:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

And an inflatable alligator for the pool this summer:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Dalton and I ate tortillas and looked on:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Because of my super clean kitchen I informed Jason that I would not be cooking that night, so he brought home Chick-fil-a because we had a coupon for free nuggets. We ate and hung out wrestling alligators and such...and look what a good walker Dalton has become already:

That was our Monday.

Happy Easter!

And Dalton is also 13 months old today. We had a lovely Easter, no church yet, of course, but it was nice to be with family at least.

Here are a few videos from that morning. We slept in (for us) till about 7:45, then came downstairs. As you watch these videos I must point out how wonderful my oldest son is. Watch as, before he does anything like check out his own basket, my 3 year old brings Dalton's basket to him first--without even being asked. And calls him Morris still. :) Then later as Dalton totally steals Easton's wind-up tractor, instead of yanking it out of his hands, throwing a fit, or screaming "Mine!" Easton calmly asks, "Can I please have that?" Even though that's how we're trying to teach him, I still find it impressive. And later, not on video, we open the box of cheddar bunny crackers and without any prompting, Easton gives the first cracker to his brother. I'm so proud of how he's turning out. I know he gives us issues from time to time, but with adequate rest he is an awesome 3 year old. I know of a lot of other's having a hard time with "3 is the new 2" as far as "Terrible" goes, and we were there...not all that long ago, right before and on our vacation Easton was in a bad cycle, but he's been back on track for awhile now. He rocks.

Oh yeah, back to Easter...here's those vids:

Dalton was definitely a fan of his light up spinny egg thingie:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Easton saw his red car first thing and was glad to have it. Whew! He wanted to play his popper game before digging into the rest of his basket, though:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

But he went back to his basket eventually, checking out the butterfly puzzle:

Easton liked it too:

After the baskets, Easton went on a little egg hunt. I have video but I've already put up a lot of video and it just takes soooooo long to upload. :) But I somehow don't have any pictures. I will tell you that Easton enjoyed hunting for the eggs and Dalton danced at the coffee table rather than joining his brother in any hunting.

We ate a teeny bit of breakfast to hold us till brunch and then we got ready to head to my mom's. The boys looked so darn cute in their matching shirts and jeans, and we didn't get a single picture before Dalton ruined his with brunch. What a bummer! But brunch was good. Of course Gramoo and Lauren were there, and Lauren's boyfriend (Dmitriy). Then my grandparents came as well as my aunt and uncle and one of my cousins (Paul). Paul brought his new wife and 4 year old step-daughter. She was quite a cutie, I wish Easton would have played with her a little more. They did an egg hunt after we ate but I edited her out of the pics since I haven't asked permission to share her on the internet:

Dalton looked on, as he was no longer dressed for egg hunting outside in the grass:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

In fact, he hated the feel of the grass on his feet so he'd hold one foot up at a time:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I caught him testing out two feet:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Easton had fun with the egg hunt yet again, the grown ups were coaching the little ones from the deck. Pretty cute to hear Dmitriy shouting, "Easton! Easton! Look over there!" At the end, my cousin's kid was sad she didn't find a pink egg so we asked Easton to trade with her, but he merely gave her the pink egg and didn't even want one in return.

There was some egg tossing going on later on:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I'm sure the bits of egg are making my mom's backyard pretty stinky right about now.

We hung in the backyard a little longer:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Gramoo got Easton a Buzz Lightyear bubble wand so we played with that:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Then I got a little fancy with it:

It looked better (and skinnier) in my imagination.

We went back inside for some more family time. My sweet snugglebug was hanging in soooo well despite no nap yet:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

He got to open a birthday present from my aunt and uncle and it was this cute little outfit (he's posing):
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Easton got a cool Melissa & Doug dinosaur floor puzzle. The grown-ups had fun putting it together. :)

My uncle entertained Dalton for awhile after that:

Both boys fell asleep in the car on the way home, Dalton immediately and Easton not till we got closer to home. He asked if we'd wake him when we got there. I still tried to put him into his bed for a nap but he protested. So he had quiet time instead. I tried to pull the same move for Dalton and put him in bed too. But he was done sleeping too. Instead I actually took a nap while J tended to the boys. Nice!

When I woke up I made a delish dinner (nothing traditional like ham or anything) and we played with the Easter stuff. Including stickers:
