Play Date Dilemmas

Yesterday was Saint Patrick's Day and while I wore festive socks and dressed the boys in green, I didn't take pictures or do anything Irish. Oh well.

Today we went to play over at Ellis's house. Poor Dalton sooooo wants to play with the big boys, and Easton is used to him, of course, but other kids aren't. I don't know how I'm going to get Dalton any friends. He's the only one in his class. :) Some of Easton's little buddies have siblings, but they're like a year (or more) younger than Dizz. One day it won't matter but now when he's beginning to walk and talk and they just sleep and eat...

Or, say I went out and found some friends with a kid closer to Dalton's age...well, then what would I do with Easton? Must think about this one some more.

I usually bring KayTar along on BubTar's playdates, unless they are doing something beyond her physical limitations, in which case I leave her with my mom for special time. As far as she goes? She doesn't have any "friends" we see regularly. It IS tough being the younger one...and for her, honestly, she's probably at Dalton's physical level, so we have a lot of the same sort of struggles as far as keeping up with the big kid and being included.

But if/when Dalton has his own little friends, I think Easton will be a GREAT asset. He can be the group leader and help out with the littler kids. BubTar loves helping like that and it helps make things go smoothly.

Hmmmm...that is a toughie. I really think as Dalton gets a little older, the differences between him and Easton & E's friends will be less noticable. He already seems so much older now that he's walking.

Or maybe with more exposure to Dalton, E's friends will be more accepting of a younger playmate. One of Adam's absolute favorite friends is little Brooklyn, who is only a month older than Dalton. There is obviously a lot she can't do with Adam, but he just dotes on her like crazy and they have a blast together.
