So, you remember the green plastic turtle from yesterday? Well, he's gone. Forever.
This morning I went to get in the shower. Because I was showering Easton apparently thinks this means we'll be going somewhere and asked, "Where're we going?" and I said, "I don't know. Where do you want to go?" He though about it and said, "Um, to Target to visit some of my favorite toys." So I said, "Okay!" We could use a few things from Target anyway so we headed over there. And we brought the turtle.
Easton was a good boy, the turtle rode around in the cart with our purchases. I remember seeing him there when I was unloading our stuff to buy because I made sure not to try to buy him. We parked the cart by the door and left. We hadn't even gotten to the car when Easton remembered, "I want my turtle" so we turned right back around, went to our cart and....NO TURTLE!
We asked our checker lady. We looked on the floor. We looked through our bags.
He was gone. :(
Easton burst into tears as he asked, "Did somebody take him?" and just totally clung to my neck sobbing. Him being so sad totally made me tear up too. We had to leave without his turtle and he cried the whole way home.
He wouldn't stop crying.
So I had him take a nap and told him we'd call Target after he woke up. I called Target's Lost and Found twice during his nap and nada. No plastic green turtle.
I told the story to some of my online mommy friends and they suggested calling the dentist to replace it. Duh! I called 'em up and they set one aside just for us. Easton woke up (I forgot to feed him lunch! Oops!) and we were off.
On the way there (a 30 minute drive) we talked about how we were going to get a new turtle and he'd have to say "thank you", right? Well, he wouldn't agree to it till I stopped the car to turn it around and go home. Then he agreed. Reluctantly.
So we got to the dentist and whaddya know...he wouldn't say thank you. I gave him more chances than I ordinarily would have because gosh, it was a long drive, and gosh, I felt stupid. But he wouldn't say it. So we left the office without the replacement and headed to the potty. He cried the whole time so I offered to let him try again and finally we got a very mumbled "unh oo" from Easton.
What a stinker! I was so embarassed, it's not like Easton to be so anti-polite. Oh well.
In the car he didn't want the turtle at all. "I want my other turtle!" with more tears.
Fine. Give it to Dalton.
Won't be doing that for him again!

What a great mom for trying to get him a new turtle. ...and what a little booger for putting you through such an ordeal to only want the original turtle. I hate when we have to stick to our "mom words" for the sake of being the mean mom now to make our kids better children in the future.
Oh, sent you an email, but not sure if you got it? Site has been updated per your request :)

You are an awesome mommy to go through all of that for one measly turtle. Easton doesn't know how good he's got it!
