So yesterday while Jason was having some "me time" checking out his new keyboard in the basement, the boys and I hung upstairs playing with the empty boxes.
Easton invented a little slide with the box the stand came in. Good times. You can hear him refer to me as "Ruby" in one of the clips:
Eventually we were all sitting there watching him play and he landed on his knees and came up sobbing. Not sure exactly what happened, what he hurt, what he'd landed on... but he said it was his knee and when he stopped crying he had developed a limp. Lovely.
We decided to watch him. Our favorite "let's keep an eye on it" approach.
Well the next day, the 10th, he was still limping, still complaining of knee pain, wouldn't crawl around on it with Dalton, and he would occasionally buckle under the weight of himself if he tried to bear weight on his right leg. He was falling a lot more often too. So, because it is very very easy for kids to break bones, I decided it would be best to be seen by a doctor. So I called ours. She couldn't see us and I wasn't about to see the physician's assistant they tried to schedule us with. We don't like her or trust her. Sooooo...I took Easton to urgent care, even though it wasn't that urgent.

We got in right away, not much of a wait at all--couldn't even finish one book we brought. The doctor checked Easton out and determined that he should have x-rays, "just so we'd all sleep better." He did superb for the x-rays, couldn't have gone any better. The doctor brought me to see the films and it was the weirdest thing...his knee caps are still cartilage...so they don't show up on the x-ray. Kinda werid to see when you're anatomy minded like I am and expect to see some bones that aren't there. So she did say that yeah, it's not broken because err, it's not bone. But she pointed out some black areas of inflammation and blood around the knee joint. She said she'd have the official radiologist read it but she told us how to treat it if we needed to and sent us on our way.
So, anytime we go to the doctor it seems we also end up having smoothies. With Jason. Well, I called Jason twice and he wouldn't answer. So we went for smoothies without him but Easton insisted that we get one and take it to Daddy. So we did. We showed up at his office, which he was not in, but his officemate took us to him. Jason was with some other co-workers and introduced them to Easton as, "These are my friends Michelle and Keith" so--to Michelle and Keith--Easton said, "And this is my friend, Mommy." Ha ha ha!
We gave Jason his smoothie and made our way back home.

Glad Eastie is okay! Patellar ossification happens between 2 and 6, but it IS strange to think of them not having bones we do!
Look at Kyla with her "patellar ossification". Doctor in the making, fo shizzle.
So glad that Easton is okay. It scared me to think his leg might be broken...I can tell you from experience that is NO fun!!!
He is so resourceful with that slide. What a funny boy!
