I am a Disgrace to Shoppers Everywhere

Today we went to "the new mall"...which isn't a new mall at all (opened when I was, like 12, in 1990). But, it's new to Easton. We don't go down that way often because a.) there are plenty of other malls closer to us and b.) this mall has always been known as one of the more "upscale" malls in the area. Definitely not going to find a JCPenney or Sears or even an Old Navy there...but they do have Tiffany's and Neiman Marcus and Louis Vuitton.

On the way there Easton noted, "This is the way to my dentist". And he's totally right but I was kind of impressed that he remembered some of the landmarks from a few months ago. Because again, we don't go that way very often.

Anyhoo, we got there and I did some browsing. I have a gift card to the mall and I was looking for something to spend it on. And that is why I'm such a disgrace. I couldn't find a single thing I wanted to buy. I tried on two pairs of jeans, but as I've blogged about before...you'd be hard pressed to find a pair of jeans to make me happy. I browsed some trendier shops and then told Easton, "You know what? Mommy isn't cool enough to shop here." So we went to play instead.

As you can see, they've got a breakfasty theme going on. Sort of "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids"ish, right? I liked the lighting in this one and that he's just looking happy. While we were there another mom told me, "He's by far the happiest baby I've ever seen." And somehow when people say such things, I always think they mean it when it's about my kids. :)

Just looking cute to me as he waited his turn to slide down a piece of bacon:

"Look, Mama! I'm in a bowl!" Why he thinks this is so exciting I'm not sure. Do you see his Zurg he brought along?

They had fun, of course. Easton has his spikey 'do going on again, but darn it: that hair glue doesn't exactly "last till your next shampoo" like it says. He's already gone flat, which is better than the Dos de Mayo 'fro, but still...

Little E saw some 5 year olds chasing each other around, and started running along behind them like he was having the most fun ever. But it made me so sad, I'm honestly not sure those older boys ever even noticed him. Yet Easton thought he was totally playing "with" them, I'm sure. Poor guy. I hate when things like that happen. How could anyone not notice my little man? I'm just glad he was none the wiser. That kid will play chase any chance he gets. In fact, while we were walking through the mall a kid was running behind us to catch up with his mom. Easton thought this meant "hey, he's chasing me!" and started running too. I had to be all, "Honey, he's not chasing you...please stay with Mommy". Goon.

We headed on to get Easton's reward cookie for his good mall behavior and I didn't want him eating it in the car so we did some people watching:

Easton brought along his frog "purse" (I don't know what else to call it). His Zurg is inside.

Dalton got to hold an advertisement. Poor guy. I didn't let him have any of E's cookie today.

But, Molly, I did yesterday. Prior to the grocery store trip I gave Easton the choice of "No cookie OR share with Dalton". He chose "share with Baby D" and we took a happy picture of ourselves:

He played on Noggin.com whilst I got D fed and ready:

Baby D is still a fan of taking off up the stairs any chance he can:

Lookin' cool in E's shades:

Easton was hiding in this blanket:

If he's not hiding, he's playing chase. That's what makes that kid's world go 'round.

I'm off to watch Grey's from last night on the TiVo.

You just need a professional shopper to go with you sometime. Sign me up for the job! :)

Adam does the same thing in play areas...follow around some of the older kids and think that he's totally playing with them, even when he's not. It can be funny and sad all at the same time.

Dalton was so cute dangling out of that bowl. Glad brother was around to lend a helping hand!

LOL. I'm not cool enough either.

I can't believe how go D is on his feet. Like the photo of him standing on the banana slice? KayTar couldn't do that.

I wish we had a mall playground like that around. The only one geared to little kids is about an hour or more away, just not worth the gas money. We have one close, but it is a big tube system and KayTar can't do it. Bummer.
