Catchin' up...
Back to Saturday, post Cityfest...Dalton and his precious balloon:
And then we did some playing that afternoon:
Easton is getting the hang of these kinds of puzzles now:
Dalton looking like he's smoking a stogie:
You can also see where Dalton's got the "reverse raccoon" going on around his eyes with sunburn! I didn't put the sunscreen too close to his eyes and I guess his hat didn't shade them enough either. Next time he'll need to wear shades like the rest of us.
Looks like E's doing the robot:
The next morning we had pancakes for breakfast. Easton likes to give Dalton some bites:
We cleaned up the house a bit. Actually, not just "a bit"...I got down and dirty with the floors in the kitchen and bathrooms, I'm talking down on hands and knees with a scrub brush on the grout, not just a quick Swiffer mopping. If ever there is a time to have to spend the night on the floor of a bathroom, it would be now. I also had Jason move the fridge out from the wall, I wanted to vaccuum the coils in the back. Apparently this is a task that had never been done in the 6+ years Jason and this fridge have been together. I bet our energy bill goes down $50 now that we got all that "wool" out of there!
I showered and the boys did quiet times. Jason swept the front porch. Then we left to go have a late lunch and our goal was to purchase a sandbox. I got Easton all excited about it. We got to Toys R Us and discovered it was $10 more than it was online...and since Amazon does free shipping we made the call to order it online instead. I felt bad for Easton but we bought their forgiveness by spending $20 on other things to make it up to them: NFL underwear, sandtoys and a Buzz kite. Or what we thought was a Buzz kite...it was really a Buzz glider. So, Jason took it back to Toys R Us and the little guys and I went to Target where we bought an actual Buzz kite.
I came home and sat down to order the sandbox...but even though it "ships from and sold by Amazon.com" it's very large size makes it so it doesn't qualify for the free super saver shipping. Gosh, darn it. The shipping was, like, $26! Jason's going back to Toys R Us on his way home today to get the stupid box. Good grief! With the price of gas right now it totally has been a very expensive endeavor.
It was a windy afternoon, perfect for kite flying...if only we had a decent kite. Poor Easton...look how excited he is:
I mean, you can just see how breezy it is in that picture.
We tried and tried to get that kite up. I've never had much luck with kites but Jason says it's a dud. Instead of Buzz Lightyear he's calling it "Dud Heavymonth".
My turn to try:
With two bachelors degrees and an almost finished Master's between us, you'd think we could fly a stupid kite.
Instead we had fun just hanging around and playing as a family. We went back to where Cityfest was the day before and ran around and played in the grass, tossing a baseball we'd found:
Giving up on the Dud kite and deciding to come home for dinner instead:
I put the boys to bed mostly myself to give J more time to finish up some homework. That way he and I were able to watch a movie last night: Little Children. It was different. But not bad.
Today was, of course, doughnut day. And Dalton had a pretty rough night last night (I think teething) so it was also Starbucks day. We came home and ate and then we decided to go to the park.
Dalton is in a new outfit. I'm pretty sure it's one my mom bought him for his birthday, but it's totally something I'd pick out as well so I'm sort of drawing a blank. It came with that matching floppy hat:
He's getting so big climbing up all by himself:
Banging away on the little "piano" thing...I like how Eastie is really getting down:
Afraid to let go! It struck me as so funny...he's normally not too cautious yet.
Checking out the new web thing they have at the park now. It spins too...if someone pushes it:
Easton and his balance totally impressed me as I watched him make his way across this thing:
In some ways we like to think he's soooo athletic, but then when he can't quite pedal and steer his trike we're like...hmmm, maybe not. :)
This thing is sort of musical as well. You thump the bars and it makes notes:
And a trip to the park wouldn't be complete without some swinging:
We came home and had some mac and roni for lunch. Diddins is having a hard time sleeping. Must be those teeth. I forgot to mention that on Thursday or so last week I discovered his 3rd molar (11th tooth) working itself through his gum. I really hate teething. Since I'm an extended breastfeeder I really don't understand why babies can't just be born with their teeth already there. It's not like I stopped nursing as soon as there's some teeth in there. Oh well.
This afternoon we're talking about getting out the Mount Tiki Soki so the boys can run around in the sprinkler.
That'll mean more pictures. :)

That park looks fun!! Even our nice park doesn't have all that fun stuff! Looks like a nice weekend!
For the record, I think Eastie is TOTALLY athletic! He amazes me.
My favorite picture is Dalton and his balloon. He looks so sweet. I agree that the park looks like so much fun! Isn't it great to see your boys having fun together.
...and E has skills...he is a balancing fool.
that park rocks! And I totally love that dad called the kite "Dud Heavymonth"...totally cracked me up!
I agree, yall's park(s) are so awesome. We have nothing compared to that. You can tell the kiddos were having a blast. They are so sweet together!!
And I hear ya on teething. I hate it too. Grrr.
I love that little outfit to. I miss all the cute younger "baby" cloths. What kind of sunscreen do you like best for the boys? I want a good one and I trust your mommy approval rating on things like this:>>
I love their plaid shorts. So cute. And what a bummer about the kite but you gave me an idea that I need to maybe get my boy's a kite.
E is so impressive with his physical ability and his balance on that bridge is amazing.
