Power of Suggestion

So yeah, put the boys to bed early last night. Unfortunately, Easton downed a bunch of liquids just before his early bedtime. Usually he sips on water with his dinner but we let him have an extra juice box since we were planning our "picnic". A few hours into his sleep he called for me. Jason was still up and went in. I eventually joined them...Easton was dry at that point (I ALWAYS check). I asked if he needed to go potty and he said no. I'm not sure how much later it actually was because I went back to sleep (it didn't feel like long) but he called again and said, "I need to go pee pee!" I was thrilled only because he never has really said that in the night, he's called after he wet the bed those two times but never said he still needed to go. I checked and his pants were a little wet but he still went and peed a ton in the potty. His bed wasn't wet at all! So, some new pants and he went back to sleep. Not perfect but it's a start to waking. I prefer the staying dry all night that has become his norm, but waking up to pee is definitely next best.

Today started like any other day. I told the boys we could go play at one of the malls when Sesame Street was over. As soon as it was over, Easton went upstairs...I didn't tell him to. He was getting dressed...I didn't tell him to. He somehow got himself high enough to reach the stuff in his closet and put on a pair of pants, a white hoodie shirt, and the jacket that matched the pants...also with a hood. I was impressed at his taking initiative like that.

I got D dressed while Easton got a pair of socks.

While I was putting on D's shoes Easton put on his socks, his shoes, and did his "before-we-leave-the-house" pit stop all without me saying anything to remind him. I know I shouldn't really be surprised, we do the same thing every time we leave, but I usually have to help move him along, "Go put your shoes on...go make a potty..." He was washing his hands before I really even realized what had just happened. It was awesome. I made sure to tell him so.

We stopped at Tuesday Morning before the mall. It was my first time shopping at one and I've gotta tell you, I thought it was going to be a much better store than it was. Oh well. I got what I needed: a silicone muffin pan.

Then we hit what Jason calls the 'ster mall. Notice Easton and his two hoodies:

Diddles had a blast:

And Easton had fun playing with other kids and didn't hit anyone. Already it was a better day. Dalton made little baby buddies too. I'm glad that he gets to have friends sometimes. Even if we don't even know their names.

When it was time to go I gave Easton his "5 minute warning" but never even got to 3 minutes before Easton told me, "It's time to go!" and went to put on his socks and shoes. Continuing to impress me, he is.

As we were leaving...

And I thought it was so darned cute when Julie's girls were holding hands recently...I said I couldn't wait for my boys to do it and lately they've just started. I love it. Easton is always the initiator:

Aren't they cute?

They're good brothers.

We came home for lunch:

Then naps and quiet time are going on as I speak. Easton wanted to watch Little Mermaid but got too scared before it even started. He's watching Curious George on PBS instead.

I think The Office and LOST's season finales are on tonight. Bummer. Didn't TV just come back from the strike? Oh well. I'm sure we'll be Netflixing more crappy movies all summer long. And reading. We like to read even more in the summer. Read anything good lately for me to put on my list? Feel free to comment with any suggestions.

I can't wait for Ranen to take initiative like that. Hey, he just went potty for the first time today. So we have a long ways to go.

Facing the Giants is a great movie and I have read a couple of the Sisterchick books and I really enjoyed them. Those are my suggestions.

WOW! Maybe Eastie's rough day on Tuesday was in preparation for the big developmental leap he was about to take! All that initiative sure is impressive!

Maybe KayTar knew he was going to wear a jacket and dressed like him yesterday. Her jacket did have a hood, but she didn't put it on.

I can't believe Diddles. I mean, he's got what they call the "adult gait" with the feet close together and the arm movements, the whole bit. KayTar still doesn't have that. She's got the wobbly-toddler-ataxic gait still. LOL.
