We bought season passes to our local amusement park for the summer. Actually they're even open on weekends all the way till Halloween weekend. The park used to be a Six Flags but I guess last year they were bought out and now they're back to regular old Elitch Gardens. That just means they had to change the names of some of the rides and that the Looney Tunes gang no longer wanders about, I guess. Plus the price is slightly lower. And no more commercials with this guy:
You win some, you lose some.
Anyhoo, the boys are both still admitted for free so on Saturday we decided to make our first Elitch's trip of the season. We anticipate going at least 3 more times so we even sprung for the parking pass. Easton has been talking for months now about going on a roller coaster now that he is taller. You have to be 36" tall in order to ride the kiddie coaster. Anytime we drive by Elitch's he mentions how one day he's going to ride on the roller coaster. He was so exicted on Saturday when we told him it was finally time to ride one!
So without further adieu...los fotos...
First stop, the family friendly carousel, it's right when you walk into the park.
And then we made a beeline for the roller coaster. Kiddieland never seems to be crowded so we waited for the kids who were already on to get off and Easton was 3rd in line:
He had to remove his "loose articles" (hat and shades) for the trip. Can you believe how big and brave he is without even a buddy next to him in the seat?
It went around 3 times. When he got off the ride I realized that the kids in front of him are Day-Day (Damien) and Julius from our My Gym days. I looked over and found another My Gym family with them so I said "Hi" and "Is this My Gym day?" sort of jokingly...but apparently even good ol' Mr. Ken was there too. We never saw him. If we did I'm sure he would've rambled on to me for a long long time and called Dalton a girl. Just like old times. Jason wondered if Mr. Ken had gotten himself any more dolphin tattoos. The only man I've ever seen with dolphin tattoos. But let's move on...
...to the spinning balloons that Dalton could do too:
On the bus that goes high up in the air and drops to give you butterflies:
We had Dalton sit that one out:
Easton did the swings:
Diddles had to wait on the sidelines again with us:
Time to find something Dalton could ride with us...the train!
I think D looks totally precious in this pic:
Next we hit the boats, just had to make certain not to get the cast wet. Not that we thought he could:
The best part about this ride was that as I was buckling the boys in, Jason decided to take a picture of my low rise shorts and anything that happened to be peeking out. He zoomed in! A normal husband might've said, "Babe, you might want to pull down your shirt in the back." But my goofball decided to take a picture for me to discover later when I uploaded the pics of our day. Thanks, J!
He also made sure to take a pic of me because I wore Easton's Spiderman sunglasses all day.
Mine broke and it was just too sunny to go glasses-less. Even in my ever-so-stylish visor it was bright. Originally we brought a pair for D so that he could avoid the eye burn from Cityfest. But when he didn't cooperate I wore them instead.
The planes were next. Dalton did not want to ride.
We waved at Bubba zooming past instead:
Eastie moved on to his first ever ride on a bumper car:
Clearly he did not quite get it:
But at least he kept his foot on the "gas". Something he probably wouldn't have gotten last year.
Dalton just wandered around the plantlife with his peg leg:
Easton took a literal spin on the kiddie tea cups, parents aren't allowed. He had the whole ride to himself:
Dalton used the time to hydrate:
And while Daddy and Easton went into the foam ball area...
...Diddles had some milk.
Another mom plopped next to us on the bench to nurse her baby. We gave each other verbal high fives for our breastfeeding in public, even though we were sitting on an out of the way bench.
After Dalton finished up we joined Easton and Daddy for a bit in the foam ball "room":
There were no lines in any part of Kiddieland, all the wait would be was for the ride to stop and the kids already riding to get off. It was nice. Any kid could handle that kind of wait. In fact, the longest we had to wait for anything was the ferris wheel. Bor-ing:
But it was happier once we were on it:
The view out one side...with (Invesco Field at) Mile High Stadium in the background:
And then the view out the other side...with Downtown Denver and the Pepsi Center. If you want to be cool you could call it "The Can". I am not cool. I call it the Pepsi Center:
Since we had moved out of Kiddieland we ventured to some of the other "family" rides like the Spider:
Dizz and I blew bubbles while we waited for them to get off the Spider:
And speaking of Spiders...
At this point the boys were both very tired but suprisingly not cranky. We decided we'd do one more family ride and call it a day. Leave on good terms. We chose the tea cups:
Dalton had a blast spinning:
Jason got a little woozy. He had to grab the wheel to slow us from all the spinning I had done. :) I hadn't known him to be so sensitive in the past. Serves him right for taking a picture of my crack earlier.
We came home after that...I sat in the back to keep Dalton awake in order to get him to take a real nap at home. But, Easton fell asleep. I carried him to his bed to finish his nap and he said, "But Mommy I want to eat lunch." I said, "Shhh...let's go finish your nap" and he said, "But I'm too hungry!" So he ate half a yogurt instead.
We continued the fun by going out to Sweet Tomatoes for dinner. Mmmm.
It was a great day till 11 pm when fever struck the house again.

Looks like you had a blast! We where thinking about Sea World passes but passed this year. Maybe next? I hope everyone is healthy in your home!
Love, Cori
What a super fun family day! I loved all your many family photos. I can't believe you squeezed all that in before lunch!
Super FUN! Almost makes me want to go out in the heat and do something cool like this. But then I remember the heat and I'm not so sure. LOL.
That darn fever. Is he better today?
"If you want to be cool you could call it "The Can". I am not cool. I call it the Pepsi Center" That made me LAUGH! Even if you are not cool, you are quite funny.
I so wish we had our six flags theme park back. They tore it down because the land value was pretty high. Although, we could have never gone in the summer. Way too hot.
Looks like yall had a blast! Even though D and G are so close in age, he seems so much older to me than her. WOW, on him riding some of those rides. And I was loving E on the rollercoaster. Julia would have totally joined him! She loves stuff like that.
Oh and I had to take a double take at the 2nd to last pic (or 3rd, not sure since I can't see the pics while I comment) because it looks like J has a frohawk! Too funny :)
What a fun family outing. I can't believe you ventured there on a Saturday. I would have been afraid it would be too crowded.
Love that J took a picture of you from behind - Pete would do that too just to be a jerk.
The last picture of D was my favorite!
WOW that looks like fun! I can't believe what a big boy E is going on all those rides by himself (the bumper car is priceless!) Dalton's wee cast is breaking my heart, but it does not look liked it slowed him down any.
Glad you all got out, you needed it!
Looks like you had a blast. And Easton on the roller coaster. It looked like it was going fast. And perfect timing with the music on your site.
I also get those odd pictures on my camera as well. Mostly cleavage. Good thing all the pictures are on my computer...delete...delete.
I was also going to comment about the nursing. That is awesome that you are comfortable in public. I still shy away or have to do it in a really exclusive spot. And how awesome that another mother was doing the same thing.
