Sorry I didn't blog yesterday...we had a really, really full day planned which I'll get to in a sec.
But first, lets backtrack to Monday night and Dalton's first swim class. Daddy swam with him that night:
Dalton's a Pisces so he did great. No, we don't believe in astrology at all...just an excuse. Anyway...Dalton had fun. Jason had fun. And Easton did great too:
Although, being that he's already graduated from this level he was feeling very bored and unchallenged and kept shouting out, "Aquaman!" randomly as well as singing his ABCs at top volume.
I couldn't help marveling at the shafts of light peeking through on our way home that night:
Pictures never quite do it justice, do they?
So Tuesday was our busy busy day. I'm not great at hosting playgroups. I can't handle a ton of kids messing up my house...a few sure, but it would make me anxious to have a bunch of 'em all over my house. So, Gramoo let us do it in her school gym instead.
We had it start at 9. Which meant we had to leave by 8:15...and 8:15 is when I woke Dalton up. But the boys were excited and happy:
Luckily we were the first ones to arrive. And what fun we had...here are some highlights in Smilebox form. The back row, left to right is Jodi (Summer and Rachel's mom), O-tay (wearing Baby Schatzi and is also Wee Laddie's mom), and then me with D (and if you don't know who's mom I am you should leave right now :). The front row is Wee Laddie blurring himself to maintain his anonymity. :) Kidding--me thinks he's just not one to sit still much. Then there's baby Summer in front of Jodi. Then Mason, Shehla's head, and Hunter. Those are Shehla's kids. Then Rachel. Then my Spidey-boy. Susannah and Max were there too but they left before we got to take our group picture. :(

We wrapped things up around noon and just my boys, my mom, Lauren and I headed to Paradise Cafe for some lunch. Then we went to Gramoo's. I'd packed the Pack and Play for Diddles to nap. It took me about 20 minutes of nursing, rocking, patting, and shushing to get Dalton to fall asleep in such a strange place. Not too bad. Easton was encouraged to have some quiet time resting in front of the TV. He only rested a little.
Only a little more than an hour later I woke Diddles up because we had planned to go swimming. It was about 98 degrees so the perfect day to swim...and to try out the new life jacket. We chose the non-Spiderman one because of the fit. Easton is fine with it. He was so cute trying them on for his dad, though, going, "So, Dad...what do you think?" as he modeled each one.
Easton totally surprised us by "swimming" under water for the first time. And the hundredth time. He could also do a sort of "barrell roll" in the water and could turn a backwards roll while underwater as well. Didn't get that one on video and then my memory card was full so I only have this stuff:

And for the record, when Dalton went underwater it's not like I was all, "Wait, let me get my camera!" Durr, it totally just happened that way where I was about to get a video of him and oops, he ducked under. Gramoo was quick. Poor guy.
Easton had about 6 near pukes where he retched but nothing official came up. Then he had one real one with substance where I was able to catch most of it in my hands (Lauren declared right then that she never wanted to be a mom!) and then I said we were done swimming. It had been over an hour anyway. The boys did great. They were TI-ERD!
We dropped Gramoo and Lauren off at home with Gramoo running in to refill D's sippy of milk for us. And then we drove home. Easton fell asleep for the last 20 minutes of the drive. After we got home and had dinner he was soooooo exhauseted that he was overly emotional and we worked to get him in bed about 15 minutes early. Dalton was worn out too. In fact he had his best night yet and slept about 12 straight hours. Went about 13 hours in between milkings. Not too shabby.
Today we had another semi-full day. Summer keeps us so busy and we're getting to see my mom and Lauren a ton...I can't remember what we used to do every day before it was summer and we were so busy all the time. Good thing I have this blog where I can just look back. But right now I can't...I'm too busy trying to tell you about today.
The boys and I did breakfast and then I cleaned the floors while they played. Then we went to the library really fast for some books I'd reserved about separating from me. These two were about school in particular. One I didn't love and seemed to make Easton wear his worried face. The other "The Kissing Hand" was much better and we like kissing each other's palms already.
After the 'brary we headed up to Boulder:
I had another quick doctor's appointment and Jason was able to take the boys to a nearby park to pass the time:
Jason went back to work and the boys and I went to grab Mac and Roni from Noodles (to use up my Mother's Day gift card). They both ate quite well:
Then it was home and directly upstairs for naps and Q.T. I woke Dalton up before it got to be too late and we went to Wal-Mart where we spent a bazillion and one dollars stocking up on things we usually get at Sam's Club as well as usual groceries and such.
And Batman underwear.
At swimming a couple of weeks ago Easton noticed Tommy's Batman undies. And then he said, "Hey Tommy, you know where I could get some Batman underpants?" Tommy never heard him and therefore never answered but Easton's been on the lookout and found some today. Not even in the underwear aisle. Good eye! And now he says he found them because Tommy told him where to find them. Goober. His Batman underwear are going to be his reward for hopefully doing well at art class this week. He told me, "I know all about being brave: you get prizes for being a good listener and not crying." I guess perhaps we're bribing him a bit much. But, I feel like I need to!
However, today he blew me away when we went to swimming lessons. The four of us were sitting on the "bleachers" waiting until it was officiall class time. We saw his teacher hop in the pool and I said, "You ready for me to take you over?" and he said, "I'm going to go by myself." And he did! Never even said goodbye! Other than some verbal praise, he didn't get bribed for that one! And I'm sure that'll never happen that way again (him taking himself to class). Hee hee. You just never know with that boy.
Instead I hopped in the pool with Diddins. Man that kid is a serious splasher. He doesn't want to swim. He wants to splash. That's even what he kept saying before we got in: "Splash! Splash!"
He did great. He actually had a couple of near pukes and then thought it was funny and now tries to do it on purpose. At least he loves to be in the water:
And Easton doing who knows what with Miss Stephanie:
Goodness...I can't keep typing like this. We need to take a break and be less busy tomorrow, I think. :)

I can't believe how great your boys are at swimming. I need to get some structured lessons for the girls, I think.
Another great post. I love the long ones. :)
I'm glad swim lessons are going so well for BOTH of your boys. Great pics of all of you in the pool together!
I bet the play date was tons o' fun, especially since it was at Moo's school. For some reason (probably because my computer is crap) I have a lot of trouble viewing your Smilebox slides. It takes forever to load and ends up locking up my computer, but I can see the first picture you have and those are cute. Wish I could see more!
You sure are having a super fun summer!
What a post. You guys have been busy. I love those Smile Boxes. They turn out so great.
Diddles going under was a bit scary but I could tell from your reaction that it was only a second. You were very calm.
That is great that Easton went to class on his own. Now, we just need him to do that next month.
