Let's see. I can't even quite remember where I left off yesterday. I think that I was going to have to wake Easton from his nap. Which I did. And then when we were getting ready to play, Dalton decided to step in Blitz's water dish with his cast foot. D'oh! I wasn't sure what to do as the cast got wet as did the padding part near his toes.

A quick search online gave me the answer: a blow dryer set on cool. So the 3 of us headed upstairs. Dalton was not liking me messing with his toes one bit. I think maybe they're hypersensitive from their time hiding in the cast? I don't know. Plus he's developed a pretty recent fear of loudish noises. He did mostly okay but still. Easton documented the whole thing for us. These are all the shots he took, not edited at all...

Once D's cast was sufficiently dry we headed out to the backyard for some popsicles:

We found some mini popsicles on our last trip and they've been perfect.

Then we decided to play in the sandbox for the first time in a LONG time, honestly. And Dalton didn't try to eat any sand!

They had fun and were good sharers, although Dalton flings sand around a lot:

More than once it got in poor Eastie's eyes. He was working on making sand smoothies for the birdies, and apparently they are mixed in the back of a dump truck:

I love the ease of the little one piece outfits. And I think they're pretty babyish so I feel like this is my last chance to stick a kid in them. After summer it'll be all normal "big person" clothes with separate tops and bottoms. But for now I've got quite a few of that style outfit to dress my poor child in.

We came in after a bit and I tried to give the boys dinner before swimming lessons. But neither kid ate much. Soon it was time to go. I didn't even have to give Easton any fake medicine for being "too sick" to listen. He did great!

Before class as we watched the previous classes wrap things up:

And I know the quality is poor, it was taken from our spot on the bleachers where the flash most definitely cannot reach the pool, but I thought it was so cute of my Eassie-Bug:

The class itself is pretty lame. It's a hard age group to try to teach, I'm sure. And the class is smallish, about 7 kids, but still they had to sit there on the edge of the pool when it wasn't their turn. And Easton got to go first, but then for the second set of "skills" she went in backwards order, so that the kid that went last the first round got to go first the second round. Which meant Easton had to wait extra long. He was cold. And he kept looking at us saying things like, "I'm cold" or "Can I swim now?" and finally a teasing, "I'm not gonna sit" as he edged himself closer and closer to the water until plop! he fell in! Oh man it was so funny. He popped right back up and climbed back onto the ledge. They have "spotters" that sit behind the kids in the class just in case something like that happens. So we saw the spotter guy hop up to retrieve Easton but E didn't need it. I totally think he did it on purpose. Jason was giving him stern looks as I hid behind J and laughed and laughed. What a stinker! He stayed put after his little "accidental" dip. I don't think he thought it would be so deep.

I felt really bad though that the class was half an hour long and Easton spent maybe 5 whole minutes in the water. When the class was over all the kids came back to their parents and Easton just sat there like, "Okay...I'm ready to swim now because clearly that's not what this was". Jason had to go retrieve him and he still was all, "Mommy, can I swim now?" Poor guy. If it continues to be so much sitting and watching then we will be cancelling the second session and maybe just going more as a family or something. Not that I expected him to just flat out swim the first day, but it really is a lot of waiting around and that is hard for the kids in his class: ages 3-5. I wish there was at least a zero depth entry pool so they could hang out in the water more while they waited their turn with the teacher. Or maybe a smaller class...or another teacher. Oh well.

We took some videos...they're really poor quality because of the distance and then One True Media makes it a little blurry. I wish you could see his expressions better because any time he takes off with the teacher he looks over at us and smiles so big like, "Did you see me? Are you watching me and how big I am?" It's a little lost thanks to the One True Media downgrading the quality but you can imagine it if you want:

Not quite sure what's happening with the "diving" when she's pulling him in. She was like that with a lot of the kids, pulling but not all the way....

And poor Gimpy just had to watch:

We came home and immediately went into the bedtime routine (class doesn't even end till 7:00). Dalton actually had a really good night for him: 7:30-4:30 (9 straight hours) then he woke to nurse and went right back to sleep till 7.

Easton actually slept till 7:45. I think with his nap and everything he is finally all caught up on the sleeping he should've been doing when he was sick last week. We made biscuits for breakfast and Easton ate 3 of them himself! Dalton didn't eat much because he's a goober:

They both are, really:

We hung around a bit and then had to drive up to Boulder because I had a GYN appointment. Jason was due to give a presentation to some Seattle big wigs so he couldn't help with the boys. I had to bring them both to the appointment with me. I brought along a sucker for Easton so he'd sit still and quiet and eat it and Dalton was in the stroller with his paci and I blew up a glove balloon for him. It wasn't too bad. E saw me with my feet in the stirrups and said, "What's the doctor gonna do to your feet?" and the doctor said, "Luckily, nothing". And then he told me a little later, "That doesn't hurt at all, right Mama?" I said "Right, Easton" even though it's never the most comfortable of visits.

Because Jason was busy we couldn't even meet up with him for smoothies this time. Instead we got free popcorn from the pharmacy and a bag of cookies from the cafeteria before heading home for naps and quiet time.

I think we might have to go to the store after they're up...but that means I have to decide what's for dinner. Not my strong suit lately. Grrr.

I love the picture of you and Dalton as you are drying his cast. The surprise look. How precious.

I hope the next swimming lesson goes better for Easton and he gets some more water time. I like the idea of all of them in the water as the teacher focuses on one child. That sounds like more fun.

How awesome is that that Dalton slept 9 hours straight but I am pretending I didn't hear that so it is not jinxed. And yeah that you got more sleep too.

This week is already turning out to be better then last week.

The pictures of you drying Dalton's cast are so cute! Your facial expressions are just priceless.

That stinks that Easton didn't get to actually swim much at his lessons. How old is that teacher? She looks like she's 12 years old! And I was getting so perturbed when she was pulling on his arms like that. I almost started talking to my computer screen. :)

Woo hoo for good sleep last night!

Oh my! That part when Eastie "accidentally" fell in had me laughing! I'd have been the one hiding and laughing too. He's just so clever.

I love that shot of him by the pool even though the lack of flash made it look a little grainy. It is still a totally winner. He's so cute!

I think most multi-kid swim classes are that way, lots of waiting, not much swimming. BubTar got lucky and there were only 2 kids in his at first and the other one would SCREAM when she got in the water, so he got to do all the swimming. Then another little girl joined so he had to take turns...but it was almost like private lessons!
