Woo hoo! We got the date we originally wanted. That's about all that went right at today's appointment. Alright, I'm exaggerating but as expected, it was not the ideal visit as far as how the office is run goes. Arrrrrrrgh!!!
First, we show up for the ultrasound. Easton was nervous even walking to the room (Jason was with us). E sat on J's lap and held my hand for most of the ultrasound while eating snacks with the other hand. He kept saying, "horse". I don't know if that's what Deuce looked like to him on the screen or what but it was funny. He thought the heartbeat was loud but otherwise he was fine. He didn't cling to Jason like last time. The heartbeat was great at 156 and then came the time for the other measurements. Our child-to-be is friggin' gigantic. At the visit 6 weeks ago he was measuring 1 week and 5 days ahead. Now he's measuring 2 weeks and 4 days ahead! The ultrasound machine estimated him to weigh roughly 5 pounds already! (One reading said 5 lbs. 5 oz.) This is at just 31 1/2 weeks! Easton didn't even weigh that at 33 weeks. This is crazy but boy does it make me glad he's going to be coming out through my tummy vs. the "other" more traditional route. Yikes!!! I simply cannot believe he's meauring so far ahead. I'm not a gestational diabetic (far from it, according to my recent glucose test). We're also quite sure of the dates of conception, etc. After all, at the 12 week ultrasound he was right on track and "they" say all babies grow at about the same rate through the first 12 weeks. His head and belly are what are so gigantic measuring at 34-35 weeks for each. His femur length is only about a week ahead (since that doesn't change with weight). So, when the machine averages all that out they come up with a due date of 2/13. My real due date isn't until March 3rd. That is just insane to me.
My uterus is still a normal not crazy-big size. They always measure my fundal height at appointments and I've always been dead on for my weeks. Still am. Today at 31 weeks I was 31 cm. True, ultrasounds have been known to be way off in estimating weight but I do believe he's on the bigger side. I can't imagine actually making it to our C-section date let alone our due date. I think I might have to take back the 0-3 month size outfits we have. He and Easton will be sharing clothes before we know it.
I've gained 8 pounds since my visit 6 weeks ago which was a little shocking but I also know I'm retaining water these days which adds to the poundage. The doctor wasn't worried about the weight at all. She said, "A pound to a pound and a half at this stage is expected/normal." If you say so, doc...with Easton I gained 8 pounds between visits once (granted it was only 4 weeks and not 6) but it ended up not being a good thing. So, I'll just keep an eye on it. :) My blood pressure is still super at 110/64.
So, that was really all well and good and happy. Yay! However, our ultrasound was at 3:15. The stupid receptionist that checked me in was on the phone arguing with her significant other the whole time she collected my co-pay and such. Tacky! We got in to the ultrasound in a reasonable amount of time. Our appointment with the doctor was supposed to be at 3:45. At just after 4 I asked 'em what was up..."oh, she's running late." (Ya think?) "Yeah, um, how late?" She then told me "half an hour late." After it had been 35 minutes with no signs of getting called back Jason had to bail and go back to work. We didn't get called back until 4:35 (50 minutes after the scheduled appointment if you're keeping track). But that was just to go sit in the exam room. It wasn't until 4:55 that the doctor finally showed her face (with no apologies). Ugh, I really hate that office. If I could just show up and have those doctors do my C-section at that hospital I would. HATE IT! Easton was an absolute angel child. If I had M&M's with me I woulda given him all of 'em. He loves playing with the toys they keep in the waiting room and while in the exam room he ate snacks and played with their and my BP cuffs. He totally exceeded any expectations I had. What a good, sweet boy. Love him so much. And not just when he's good. :)
When we pulled up to the hospital he said things like, "Mama. See brother." and made his heartbeat swishy sound. Then, when we got out of the car he said, "Daddy, smoothies" because we often pair a trip to the hospital with smoothies with Daddy. He's a genius. I have one genius child and one gargantuan child. Perfect.
Okay, well...of course by the time I got out of my appointment at 5:10 the front office staff was long gone and everything (including the waiting room) was dark so I have yet to schedule my next appointment. It should be in two weeks. Wonder what'll happen...
Anyhoo, that's the update from me to you. Enjoy!

This baby preparation stuff shouldn't be so hard. Maybe it means you are doing the hard stuff now and the actual delivery will be the easy part this time. Moo
The "little" one sounds like mine! Both times when I went on bed rest at 30 weeks they told me they were around 5 pounds. And they were both over 8 pounds! Garrett was 8 lbs. 6 oz at 36 weeks and Lance was 8 lbs and 3 oz at 37 weeks. And no, I didn't have gest. diabetes and I only gained 20 lbs! But don't take back the 0-3 clothes yet! For some reason they still fit!
Wow...wow....wow...
I'm glad he's growing so strong. And I'm glad it won't hurt you so much--hopefully.
Everything is sounding like it's going along just right. I'm very glad to hear it all.
