They Grew Up While We Were Gone

Easton has a few new phrases in his repertoire...he's picked them up from various people, not just my mom and Lauren it seems. Today when playing with Jason, Easton called out an "Oh, snap!" (Thank you, Lauren).

He also busted out with a, "Like I said, _____" (that's July's).

And then his new "connecting adverb" (yes, I had to Google that) is "otherwise". I know many many people use that one. Just not my 3 year old...till now.

Dalton has a new thing of his own, the "Ta Da!" He put a bag the souveneirs came in on his shoulder, walked to the other side of the room, turned around and said, "Ta Da!" Or at dinner tonight he balanced his sippy on the edge of his high chair table and again, "Ta Da!"

Goobers.

Easton also grew up in the sense that on the way out to dinner tonight he told us that when we got home he was going to put himself and his baby to bed. He told us that we should stay downstairs and eat some food and he'd give them their baths and such. So we went with it, minus the unsupervising part. We sat there and Easton started the bath, added his Spidey bubbles, declared "No stories tonight!" got himself and Dalton undressed, fetched some washcloths then they got in the tub.

Easton washed himself first, starting with his head and face then he started narrating, "Wash the pit. Wash the other pit. (some silent cleaning) Wash the butt...with soap. Rinse the hand. Play." We cracked up at that one: play! Then he moved on to Diddles too. Big boy.

He didn't towel off himself like I thought...instead he climbed up in my lap where I had the towel...it wasn't ready for him and I'm a bit damp now, but oh well. He brushed his teeth himself then he left the bathroom heading for his room. I said, "You forgot something" and he ran back to flush...but he hadn't even gone potty yet! That was the part he forgot. Silly. He also tried putting on his p.j.'s without underwear so I spoke up then too. Otherwise he did just about all of it himself. Cutie. He gave us a big group hug in the hall and shouted, "Family!" as if he was so happy we were all together again. When it came time for us to leave or not he decided he did indeed want us to tell him his bedtime story and song. Then we said goodnight.

I knew they'd change while we were gone, I just knew it.

Wow, they have grown up. I can't believe Easton and his bathtime. What a young little man.

Anytime I leave for any amount of time I can see differences. Josh says I'm crazy, but they really are changing every day.

How cute that E did it all on his own. He'll be ready for a bachelor pad in no time. LOL.

SO cute! I love that he said "Family!" out of nowhere, just because! What a sweetheart.
