Since Jason stayed at work late to do his tele-presentation, the boys and I were on our own for the afternoon/evening. First we did a little more bargain shopping: a quick stop at Rite Aid and then a trip to Target. I wanted to get some Chex with my Target coupon (as well as a few other things) so that the boys and I could make Muddy Buddies! Mmmmm!
We came home and got to work. Dalton is learning how to be a good helper like Bubba is and to take turns. And all three of us made sure to snag a few bites out of the bowl of chocolate chips and Chex. And licks of peanut butter. Yum.
I did the mixing and then both boys helped me shake it in the bag to coat the pieces with powdered sugar. Here's E shaking while Dalton tries to sneak another nibble:
While it cooled/dried I hauled out our tote of Halloween stuff...toys and clothes and crafts and decorations... The boys were both so excited to dig everything out:
Check out D's squeaky black cat slippers which were Easton's the last two years...
When we were satified with the amount of stuff to leave out for the month I put the rest of it and the tote away and started our boxed mac and cheese for dinner which we ate with strawberries while listening to loud music. What fun. Even better with our Muddy Buddy treat at the end!
I got both boys to bed and then shortly after that Jason came home. I guess his presentation went well with a few minor annoyances such as one of the professors uploading an outdated set of Power Point slides...so not only was there extra slides or a left out table of contents, they were also not the set he'd practiced with a bazillion times. But, being a professional, he was able to roll with it just fine and seems to think it went well over all. He said the Q&A he had to do at the end was a breeze. I'm excited to see the video of it all when it's available.
This morning was a little different for a Thursday. Normally Easton would have school, but with the teacher's mountain retreat there was no class. However, Dalton still had AussieROO so awhile back I asked if Jason wanted to get in on the fun or if I needed to make other arrangements. He wanted to go. So we got to eat breakfast as a family (cinnamon rolls, smoothies, and fruit) and then J and D went to class while Easton and I headed to Walgreens. I'm going to have to get better about planning my trips each week so I don't have to make multiple trips to the same store unless that's part of a "rolling" deal.
Dalton and Jason sounded like they had a nice class. I remember back when Easton was in Gymsters we'd occasionally miss a class on purpose just so Jason could take him to one of the make-ups on the weekends. It's got to be hard to be making all the money to pay for the fun classes but never get to go. So we make sure he gets to go sometimes. Later in the month it'll happen again where D has class but E doesn't. I might schedule a more convenient make-up class for that instance.
After I got Dalton back from Jason we headed off to Circle Time at the 'brary while Jason left for work. There was many many less children this week which was so nice. Both boys did very well. They were the best behaved children there...this time. We also got a special Max & Ruby "Perfect Pumpkin" DVD that Easton has never seen. I surprised him with it (it was on hold for us). He is watching it now.
We left the library and headed for Dairy Queen. Yesterday we checked the mail and found Gramoo's monthy mail surprise for the boys. They each got a Halloween card and a few DQ Dollars each. So Easton got an M&M Blizzard and Dalton and I shared a chocolate dipped cone. Thank you Gramoo! Easton's small blizzard will likely last him the rest of the month. He's hardly made a dent in it so far!
Once we got home we decided to rake the leaves into a pile in the yard for some fun before lunch. And I decided it was time to break out the "Urban Acid" action in PhotoShop again...
Dalton found a tiny rake in the garage to give me a hand...
Then it was time to jump!
Dalton wasn't too interested in the "jumping in" part so Easton gave him a hand...
And showed him what to do...
When brothers become bothers...
"Who me?"
We'd rake it up to do it again...
We raked and jumped till the boys got bored with it and then we came inside for strawberries and cheese to balance out our ice cream already in our bellies.
And I took this shot of the boys and their festive socks.
I had a pair exactly like this last year and now I can only find one of them. Boo! And not a good Halloweeney "Boo!"...a sad "Boo Hoo!" :(

The pictures in the leaves are so, so cute. Perfect for a scrapbook layout.
Glad things went mostly well for Jason last night. That's great news!
I think that photo of Eastie might be my favorite EVER! And the jumping shot is great, too.
Forgot to mention how much I LOVE the photo of E jumping. Very, very cool.
