Friday Already?

We used our Sweet Tomatoes BOGO last night for dinner. And I noticed that the site I go to for all my Money Saving info posted that same coupon after I emailed it to her. She's got a bazillion readers and she linked to me so I felt briefly famous even though no one really cares. :)

After that we came home and got the boys to bed, then Jason turned on the Cubs and invited me out to the porch for some cigars. I brought my laptop and he watched the Cubs through the window:

Yup, I really smoked it:

I've never smoked anything else in my life other than a few cigars. Never even a single drag on a cigarette, and certainly this goody two shoes has never tried anything illicit either. But Ben (my ex) introduced me to fine cigars and it's been probably since my honeymoon with him over 8 years ago when I last had a cigar. The cheap Swisher Sweets J and I had last night were soooooooo not even in the same category as the cigars of my past. And my mouth last night and today? Blech! Good thing I scored some gum for 9 cents from KMart the other day. :)

This morning found us awake bright and early...the boys and I came down for breakfast only Easton said he wasn't hungry and just wanted "to play some Halloween games" and Dalton decided to help himself like he often does:

E finally agreed to eat a few bites of cold cereal that he'd asked for and Dalton ate a fruit leather. They're not hungry boys today, darn it.

After breakfast Easton asked to watch a Halloween show. I said, "Bud, I'm not sure we have any but I'll check." So I looked through the TiVo'd shows for a Halloween themed one...and wouldn't you know it?! Little Einsteins (which he never watches anymore) had a Halloween episode that had taped. Score! After that we sat down to make our "countdown to Halloween" chain. Every day Easton seems to think it's Halloween. And it's getting a little annoying, to be honest. So I told him last night we'd make a chain for every day till Halloween. We did that for his birthday too. I think it's hard though being that it's Halloween "season" but not the actual day yet. He seemed to understand better last year and with Christmas and all. Oh well. So we made a chain to hopefully help him get how many days are left till actual Trick-or-Treating.

Diddles even lent a hand:

E looped and held it in place for D (or me) to tape. Sometimes we'd switch and he'd tape. We had 27 links to make, you know.

We hung it on the curtain rod in his room:

We had to loop it up out of the reach of this little rascal:

After that I got the boys dressed for E's gymnastics class and I went to work folding the rest of the laundry (that you see on the couch above). At one point Easton had to have a time out for "needing to write a message" on the wall!!! Nothing happened to the wall and he wasn't being intentionally "bad" or anything but to make it clear that we do not write on the walls, he had to have a time out. When I went to turn off the timer when it was over I noticed it was 9:56! Gymnastics starts at 10! I nearly forgot! So we raced out the door and were only a couple minutes late.

Easton's been behaving much better lately the last few days and I've been thankful. Dalton's been sleeping 12 hours through the night since I last mentioned it 4 or 5 days ago too. That's been nice. Although E did have the timeout for the near writing on the wall this morning and he made a rude sound at someone as we were leaving the rec center. But overall it's been much more pleasant and I feel like I have my normal sweet boy back...mostly.

We ran two quick errands after gymnastics. Actually neither store had either thing we went for :( but we did that and came home for lunch that they didn't eat much of again and now they're in their rooms. When Easton finishes up his half of quiet time in HIS room, he'll move to my room for his juice and TV show. Yesterday he was trying to tell Jason about his new Halloween movie. It's called "Max & Ruby: Perfect Pumpkin" but he didn't know that so he just said, "It's called Pumpkin and Friends!" We thought that was hysterical. Where did he come up with that one?

Anyway, it's about time for me to get him out of there and turn on Pumpkin and Friends. We've got a bit of a busy weekend ahead of us so have a good one, folks!

You look so sophisticated smoking the stogie (isn't that what you call them?). I can't believe you didn't get sick. I think I have had cigars twice and been sick from them both times!

I love to see that Dalton empties your pantry because Drew does the same to mine at least twice a day. He brings me every snack box and demands to eat from it.

I swear holidays are a time for making those construction paper "day countdowners". I still like to make them at 34 :)

I can't believe you smoked that nasty thing! Those pictures totally threw me for a loop. :)

The paper ring countdown is a fun idea. I like how you do that for holidays. Do you do it for birthdays too? I can't remember.

Glad your sweetie Eastie boy has returned!

I had to laugh a little about your laundry pile on your couch. It's so neat and organized, even when it's not folded. You should come see my laundry pile sometime. Scary!!!
