It's our first week of the summer programs we're doing, just wish the weather would catch up to the idea of "summertime"...when the heck are we supposed to go swimming and do all those kinds of summery things?
Yesterday Easton started his "Keyboards for Kids" class. He did really well. He went in just fine, no hesitation at all. I think he was excited for the class. He did some "practicing" at home before we went and then when it was time to go I asked him to go put his Croc shoes on as that's what he'd been wearing all morning. However, he told me, "I don't think I'll look very handsome in those" and wore his Transformers tennis shoes instead. Much better...wish you could see how his Bumblebee shirt matches his Bumblebee shoes:
With Eas in class, it left Dalton and I with 45 minutes to kill. We wandered around the rec center a bit:
I know a shirt tucked into sweat pants is really not the coolest look, but it's a onesie and he's 2...whatcha gonna do?
Always fun to take a few trips in the elevator:
Finally we planted ourselves in the hall outside E's classroom and Dalton went through my purse coloring on various receipts and rearranging the contents of Easton's Spiderman wallet. Good times. Actually, he was very very quiet which is what we were going for.
The 45 minute class passed pretty quickly and Easton has a homework sheet for the week that he has to get initialed...but it's all easy stuff. Still...our first "homework", I think.
We came home for dinner. The boys actually ate their Mickey Mouse chicken nuggets this time. Whew! The gigantic Costco bag of them sitting in my freezer may not be a total waste after all.
This morning the boys played "firemen" while I made chocolate chip muffins.
I like how they both thought to get their "fire boots".
After breakfast we had something special planned. The rec center was hosting a local woman and her "Super Hero Songs" 'show'. We actually had to buy tickets for $3.50 a piece to this thing but still, sounded right up my kids alley and they said, "wear your capes". However, my boys can't just stop there and so we and most of the other kids showed up in full costume:
The songs were predictably lame...sometimes it held the boys attention...
...and sometimes it didn't. At one point E said, "Let's get out of here!" But we stuck it out as it was only an hour. A lot of her songs weren't even superhero-y...they were about summer or lame stuff. Easton's favorite one was when she'd sing some "clues" and then at the end of the verse the kids would shout out which superhero she was describing. He knows his stuff somehow.
We saw E's classmate Brock on the way in...Brock was on his way to swimming lessons. We acted happy to see him but I wasn't too thrilled to hear Brock would be continuing in E's class next year. I was hoping he might switch to full day or five day or something but no such luck. Brock is the class rascal and he's the one that threw sand in E's eye and told Easton his shoes weren't cool so that he didn't want to wear them for awhile. :( Apparently he told Tabor she was ugly. :( He's probably one of the toughest ones for Mrs. M to have in her class. There's a girl troublemaker too. Easton and Brock are friends, though, even though I don't believe E has yet joined forces with Brock when he's being naughty. And he's naughty a lot.
Bummer.
This afternoon is our simultaneous gym classes for the boys (and me!). I'm looking forward to that. At least all this stuff (so far) has been inside so we forget how it doesn't feel like summer outside.

It sure feels like summer here, TOO MUCH! I'll split the difference with ya. LOL.
The keyboard class sounds fun. KayTar loves typing, so I'm sure she'd think it was pretty cool.
Difficult kids are, well, difficult! I mean, on one hand, they are just a kid...but on the other, it is hard to tolerate blatant disobedience and rudeness. Maybe school will help him to behave a little better eventually?
Hope your gym classes were a success!
Oh, and K would looove that Bumblebee shirt!
