Well, my ex-husband was actually very good to me when it came to favors and surprises and such...I now think that was his way of trying to ease his own guilt about being such a big fat liar all the time. But whatev...
Back in the fall of 2002 John McCain hosted SNL and I decided that I really really liked him...yes, just based his SNL stuff. Too bad there is so much more to politics.
So, when McCain's second autobiography came out and he went on a book signing tour, Ben hussled over between shifts at the restaurant to buy his book and wait in line for him to sign it...for me!
Ben said he was listening to everyone say all sorts of political sounding things as they went through the line and met John but when it got to be his turn he said, "Uh, I really liked you on Saturday Night Live." McCain said that it was probably the most fun he'd had in his life. Now I'm sorta jealous that Ben can say he met the man...although knowing Ben as I did I'm sure it's morphed into some outlandish story by now. :)

That's cool. I like McCain because he makes those yummy potato smiles. Oh wait, maybe that's not quite right....LOL!
