Okay, so you may remember we've got some really annoying neighbor dogs. There are two of 'em and we've christened them Lassie (for obvious looks-like-Lassie reasons) and Blackie (because, well, it's an all black dog). Today, Blackie--the world's most annoying dog with a piercing constant yap--was howling along with the frequent yapping. This prompts me to look out the window. A lot. Lassie is not there. Therefore, Blackie must be sad and lonesome. Now I'm a little sad about where Lassie might be and why. I'm also somewhat selfish and wish that if one of the dogs was elsewhere that it should be Blackie. Lassie is fairly quiet. I'm just not sure what's up. Better keep looking out the window.
We have lots of fun naming people and those dogs here in our 'hood. Rarely do we know our neighbors last names so, since Nick and Julie live across the street we call them The Nickandjulies. One of their moms (HERS) is always there in her gold mini van. Guess what we call her: Goldie. Then we work these into regular conversations as if that's their real names. For example, "The Nickandjulies must be out of town because I saw Goldie taking care of the dogs today." You know, that sort of thing. You might think we're big weirdos but we love us. :) Thanks for listening.
Onto other things...I took Easton to a trial Gymboree class today. I knew it would be pretty pathetic but we went anyway. And it was. Easton had fun enough and liked the part with the parachute the best but he prefers the other gyms we've been to anyway. Good thing since we already signed up somewhere else, right? He liked getting stamped at the end too:
He got one on each hand, each foot, and then his tummy. He didn't like having one there so good thing he forgot about it when his shirt came down. All 3 "gyms" we've tried give the kids stamps at the end. I wonder why.
After the Gymboree lameness we went to the library--we had to miss Circle Time for Gymboree but we'll go to the one tomorrow. Even so, we had books and a DVD that were due and some others to pick up. I'm starting a new book for my mommy book club. I hear it's not great but that's part of book clubs, right? Plus, I'll probably love it as I'm weird like that and the woman who told us it was no good is lots smarter than me and listens to NPR and stuff. And she's rich, I think. But she's still very sweet and her daughter and E like each other at playgroups. Anyway...
Easton is turning into a Frenchman. Last night in his high chair after dinner and then this morning in the back seat he'd pronounce "Mama" like a total Frenchie. You know, with the accent on the second syllable and going up in pitch almost like it's a question. We were laughing at him last night and it's still cute today. I stopped by Krispy Kreme because neither of us ate breakfast (Easton woke up too late to have breakfast and still make it to class--no biggie--the kid's not an eater). Anyway, I bought 2 doughnuts and ate one on the way to the 'brary. Easton saw me eating it and would say his version of "doughnut" and then "MaMAAAA?" So, I couldn't help but give him bites at stoplights. Once we got to the library we sat outside on a bench and shared the other doughnut. His face was so messy! Oh well.
Now he's having a nap. Again, I expect it to be short thanks to him sleeping till after 9 this morning! By some miracle (the humidifier) he didn't hear all the howling and yapping by Blackie. I was not so lucky. Oh well, I think I'll go start my new book and sip my free sample of General Foods International Vanilla Creme hot beverage. Au lait!
