Memorial Day

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Annnnnnnnd, I'm back...with my zillions of pictures. Photobucket gave me a little scare just now but it's working. Whew!

So, we'll just jump right in to the pictures I was too lazy to upload Saturday night:
A goofy one of D...obviously:

And the globey water feature from Boulder's new mall:

We "had" to go back a second time. Dalton didn't care:

On Sunday we ate our bagel breakfast and J headed in to work again for the morning. Dalton took a giganticly long nap--of course still waking at the 45 minute mark, but he went back to sleep eventually and I had to wake him so he didn't think it was nighttime or something. My sleeping angel:

While Dizz got his beauty rest Easton and I did a bunch of stuff, starting with laundry. Since Memorial Day marks the beginning of summer as far as wardrobes are concerned we broke out some of E's new stuff to wash. He had fun playing with the size stickers:

Eventually we headed outside for some $5 Big Lots croquet:

One of my parenting techniques is to offer Easton reasonable options so that he can make a decision we're both happy with and hopefully avoid tantrums and such. For example, "Do you want the Elmo or Ernie diaper tonight?" "This shirt or that one?" "Do you want to walk or Mommy carry you?" So, one of our summertime questions is "Do you want socks and shoes OR sandals?" To which yesterday he answered, "Socks and sandals". So I repeated the choices as socks with sandals was not one of them. But again he repeated "socks and sandals" so since we were just going to be in the backyard I really didn't care and socks and sandals it was. As you can see. At least they weren't black socks, right?

Then it was time for E's nap and Dalton woke up to watch me unload the dishwasher.

That shirt would NOT cover his belly. No biggie. Jason has always thought the outfit was kinda girly looking. I'll just call him "Dolly"...you know, the girlie version of Dalton. Okay, not really.

I went shopping with Ellis's mom after that. Once both boys were awake again I took more of Dizz:

Does he look like Dieter (Mike Myers' character on the Sprokets sketch) to anyone else?

Interested to watch his big brother:

Showing off:

I just like this one 'cause of his eyes:

And so sparkly:

Horsey rides:

When Dalton napped again, Easton and J went out to mow:

How cute is J's little shadow?

And you already heard about our adventures in dinner last night. When we got home it was time to do the bedtime routines and Easton went down quietly (well after he bonked his head on the wall getting in bed). But, it was so nice not to have to go in there repeatedly to pick his Cuddles up off the floor or cover him back up or whatever.

Today Jason went to work again. This time for a full day. Blah. But, to make up for it today was declared donut day and everyone was happy about that:

That is one of Easton's silly expressions. I can't remember what he was doing it for at that moment but he does it quite a bit.

Easton easily polished off 2 donuts (first time for 2!) and then helped me clean up the crumbs. This job required his two vaccuums plus my Swiffer Vac:

Not really. It wasn't that bad he just thought two were better than one.

About an hour after his 2 donuts Easton told me, "Want yogurt!" so he had one of those too. Man, when he's not drinking milk he certainly has more room for food. He didn't have any milk till lunchtime today. Wow!

In honor of Memorial Day I've got the boys dressed in some all-American attire. Did you know the holiday is not really about BBQ's? :) Kidding. Dalton's outfit:

When looking at the above picture I like to imagine he's singing a festive Happy Memorial Day song.

I asked Easton if he could salute and I demonstrated. He gave me this and said, "Loot":

Once I showered and dressed and got Dalton back to sleep after his 45 minute waking, Easton and I headed out to the backyard. He played some soccer:

And picked me flowers:

The dandilions are insane around here this year. Not just our yard but EVERYWHERE. I've never seen it this bad.

We laid out some bread for any hungry birds too:

We do that every once in awhile but never see any come eat it. Till today:

Easton's reaction:

Since Easton had already eaten a yogurt around breakfast time we had orange noodles (Kraft mac and cheese) for lunch and we ate it in the backyard:

That was quite exciting too. Many birds came to visit to get some bread while we ate our food too.

After lunch it was time for E's nap. It was time to come inside anyway because his little cheeks were getting red from being hot. We stripped off his clothes and he carried Doggie upstairs for their nap. Li'l O has been replaced by Doggie for now. He carried the dog so carefully and cradled it like a baby:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Very sweet. Doggie has his own Cuddles too.

Once I put Easton down I peeked my head in to check on Dalton. He was laying there quietly looking around. Not sleeping:
"What are you doing here? Did I call? No, I did not."

But he was happy to see me anyway:

When they wake up this afternoon I want to do something fun. Maybe just a trip up to the little park nearby or something. When we were out doughnuting I saw all kinds of families doing "day off" type stuff together and got jealous. We'll have to come up with something. For me. Since the boys don't know or care that it's a federal holiday.

Anyway...

Can you believe that I'm such a dork that while on vacation I caught myself wondering several times what you guys were up to? I really missed reading your blog daily. I had a lot to catch up on this evening!

Love all the pictures. It is so adorable how E follows Jason around. Adam is the same way with his daddy and I never get tired of seeing it. Dalton's pictures are as adorable as ever. It's amazing how fast he is growing up.

Glad you had a super day!!

Photos! All is right in the world! :)

Looks like you had a great Memorial Day. It rained here 2 out of 3 days. Today our street flooded it rained so much! It wasn't a good day to do much of anything. Luckily we put in come swimming time yesterday to preempt the rain.

YAY lots of pics!!! Love that pic of D standing. That is quite impressive :)

Donuts and yogurt...yum!!! 2 of Julia's favorites. Julia is just like E in that she loves her yogurt. Sometimes she eats 2 or 3 per day!!

Happy sleeping!!!! BTW..remember how I emailed you about grace probably not having a good sleep night last night...well she had her best night ever. 5 1/2 hours!! Go figure!!!!!

I liked the lawn mower picture but then I saw the picture of the bird and loved that even nore but then E's reaction to the bird was BEST of all!

Wren calls birds "dirds" and balls "dalls" but then he'll say "dada" and "donna" all the time- silly.
