It was our 3rd night with the Miracle Blanket. The first two nights were nothing to write home, err...blog about. He had done his same 6-6.5 hour stretch and then waking again 5-6 ish for a pacifier which I always thought was to be reswaddled. Anyway...last night...wow! Our 10 1/2 week old nursed at 7:50 then had his bath. He was very sleepy and while smiley he didn't splash around like he usually does (too tired). We put him in his jammies, wrapped him in the Miracle Blanket and he was asleep in his crib at 8:30. He didn't wake up till 6:30 this morning! He had never even gone longer than 8 hours before and last night he went for 10 hours of straight sleep, 10 and a half if you count time between feedings! I nursed him at 6:30 and he went back to sleep till 8:30. I'm not counting on this happening every night now, of course, but it happened! Of course I thought the worst. I started stirring around his usual wake up time of 2:30-3:30 or so. By 4 I was pretty wide awake. At 4:30 I just had to tell Jason I hadn't heard from D yet and I was of course worried. He said to go check on him. Bless him...it's almost like I needed his "permission". Anyway, Dalton was fine of course. I was able to snooze about an hour more before I was just too shocked to keep sleeping. Go D!
Thanks for all my comments on my "Day in the Life" timed posts. It was kinda fun to do. I'd done it once before for a scrapbook page...and just one kid. See (you can click on them if you want to try to read about 13 month old Easton):

I agree that our Tuesday looked like a busy day, but it ended up being rather tame. Yes, Kyla--I most definietly had more cake (3:14). And Amanda was right--no tantrums, but we luckily don't deal with those everyday anyway. Naptime went a lot more smoothly for both boys because Easton fell asleep in the car and Dalton didn't wake up after his first sleep cycle like he often does. We also didn't leave the house in the afternoon which we occasionally do too. You must've noticed that I didn't have to do much cooking nor cleaning that day either. And of course I've gotta give props to my wonderful hubby. We always do the boys' bedtime routines together which I love. He is a very supportive and involved parent. We're lucky to have him.
Okay, so how's this for lucky to have him? Yesterday I was hoping to have a fun surprise for Jason when he got home. He was doing a secret mission for me too! My "secret" was Easton and I planned a picnic at the park for when Jason got home. We were going to have everything all ready and in the car and we'd be sitting in the car waiting when J would pull up and off we'd go for some family fun. Well, Jason got stuck in bad traffic plus he made a "secret" Mother's Day stop for my new "mommy ring" I picked out and ordered. I knew about it and have been asking him daily if they'd called yet but he still wanted to pick it up secretly. This did not end up working out for our picnic plans. Eventually I just decided the boys and I would go and once I talked to Jason (who I hadn't even talked to yet) I would tell him to meet us at the park. When we finally talked that's what I told him. We had just gotten to the park and set up our picnic. Easton was excitedly eyeing the playground equipment but I told him he needed to sit and eat his dinner first and then play. He is so sweet and good and was being the typical good listener that he usually is and he just sat there and munched on his cheese. Oh I was loving him so much right then:
He was being so good. Well, Jason gets there not too long after and it's getting windy and we can tell it's gonna rain but I don't let it stop us yet. A few minutes later it really was raining. I packed up D and the picnic and headed to the car and excited Easton got to run around on the playground for 20 seconds before Jason told him we'd have to leave and come back another time. He was soooooo good natured about it and understanding. And to make me even happier he asked for "More food, Mama!" on the way home. He ate his whole cheese, pickle, and strawberry plus more when we got home. I think I might burst I love my boys so much. Dizzle was happy the whole time. Amy was right, I think he is the smiliest baby I've seen. I had our picnic blanket piled on him so that just his little eyes were peeking out and I could tell he was smiling under there as we rushed to the car in the rain. When we sat at the table at home to finish eating he sat in his carseat smiling away. Love, love, love them! Easton had been so excited all day for our park trip and as we waited and waited for Jason he just ran around the house all excited and waiting by the door for J.
Yesterday afternoon I was nursing Dalton Easton asked "Watch Blue's Clues please, Mama?" (That's what he checked out at the library earlier). And I told him, "Not right now, Bubba, when Dalton is done we have to go to the store to get things for our picnic. How about you watch it tomorrow when Mommy takes a shower?" And he simply agreed. "Ah-key (okay), Mama". What a guy! That kind of behavior is pretty normal for him but it still makes me swell with pride.
Eastie took a fairly short nap yesterday and when he woke up I told him, "I'm still doing some work on the computer" (adding pics to my blog post) "Why don't you watch a program and we'll do puppets when I'm done." Awhile later he checked in, "All done yet, Mama?" I told him "soon". And then we cut the Backyardigans finger puppets out of the Nick Jr. magazine:
The back of the magazine has another Backyardigans scene. He geniusly (is that even a word? I don't think so) laid each puppet on top of their picture on the mag:
It seemed smart to me, anyway. But I'm his mommy. His very proud mommy.
I was just swelling with all this love for my boys that I checked on them both before I went to bed. I normally check on Dalton but Easton is such a light sleeper that I'm usually too afraid to open his door, let alone walk along the creaky floor to peek at him. But last night J and I both did. They're both such sweet sleepers.
And I still felt bad about the park thing so this morning was doughnut day. We ate at Krispy Kremes. Then we went and bought Easton a cowboy hat at the party store. I got in big trouble the other day for letting him do this:
I let him wear a Ziploc bag on his head because he was pretending it was a cowboy hat. But, Jason was shocked that a rule-follower like me would let our 2 year old play with a plastic bag...especially on his head. (The plastic bag normally held Mr. Potato Head parts). Anyway, I had no issues with it because I was right there with him and he would take it right off if it fell over his face while he galloped around making horsey and "Yahoo" sounds. Bad mommy, right? Oh well. I just love his imagination. It's not like putting the bag on his head was my idea. It's out of the toy box now and in addition to purchasing him a real cowboy hat today we also bought a plastic tote to store Tato Head in from now on.
We're giving the park/picnic another go tonight. This time with take-out. It's suppposed to be 80 here today but a 10% chance of thunderstorms later. Eek! That's the same as yesterday and we all know how that turned out. If it comes down to it maybe we'll let him play on one of the inside structures at Chick-fil-a or something. Hopefully the park will work out, though...keep your fingers crossed for us and I'll update tomorrow. And perhaps we'll all sleep through the night again? Wishful thinking, I know.

The picnic dinner is such a fun idea! Adam and I sometimes have a picnic at the park for lunch, but we haven't had one with daddy ever. We've got to do better with that in the future. Matt's missing out on too much fun.
Dalton is definitely a smiley boy. We thought Adam was the smiliest baby ever, but he was much more high maintenance than Dalton. D is just chill. He's such a good boy!
Both your boys are SO good. You guys either won the kid lottery or are the best parents...maybe both!
Sleeping through the night?!? YAY DALTON!
Your picnic idea sounds nice. We've picked up dinner a few times and eaten it at the park. Of course, Nathan never actually eats when we are at the park, too much fun to be had! I hope it works out for you guys tonight!
Dalton is a smiley guy. And he has GREAT smiles!
And I'm relieved to hear you had that second piece of cake. :)
Go Dalton!!! There is a reason they call that blanket the "miracle blanket". I will be anxiously waiting to hear how he does tonight.
And does E have the best manners or what!! I am so impressed. If Julia would be so patient and polite just 1 day a week, I would be in hog heaven.
I have always loved that about Jason- how much a part of the routine he is. You guys are a great team.
Dalton is so BIG. I am proud of both "my boys" :) I love them so much...Moo
