If I Had a Job...

I'd be heading back to work. My maternity leave would be over. Dalton is 12 weeks old today. I would sooooo not be ready. Good thing I can and want to stay home with my babies. If you call what we do "staying at home". We actually leave every day. Like today...we headed down to my mom's school for her "Field Day". She's an elementary school P.E. teacher...remember Field Days? Many schools do the traditional 50 yard dashes and 3 legged races. Not Moosie. She does these fancy themed Field Days which are a lot less about competition and more focused on fun for everyone. This year's theme was science. I noticed a dinosaur station and the littler kids did a relay sorting living vs. non-living things. Pretty fancy. We showed up about halfway in (I had to wake Dalton up at 8:40!--he woke once in the night as usual). Easton was all excited to go but took a very long time warming up to my mom. She was being extra loud as she was running the show, not sure if it was seeing her speeding around in her golf cart or her sunglasses and visor or what. But Easton wanted me right near him at first. Eventually he spotted a parachute and totally wanted to join in on the fun. So he and his Gramoo hopped out of the golf cart to play.

At one point my mom had him sit in the middle and the class walked around quickly to "spin" the parachute. Easton freaked out when he lost sight of me during the spin. So the spinning did not last long. I just don't know what was with him today but oh well. Eventually he was willing to sit on Gramoo's lap to steer the cart (if I held his foot--he needed his hands to drive).

You can see he took the task very seriously--note the tongue poking out. He had fun, though and didn't even notice that I stopped holding his foot before long.

Dalton was just along for the ride in the Snugli.

Some people didn't notice him till they'd ask my mom, "Is that your grandson?" about Easton who was driving or sitting right next to her and she'd go, "Both my grandbabies" and point at Dizzle in his front carrier.

Before long it was over and we headed inside for cafeteria lunch. They always do burgers and hot dogs on Field Day. I had baked beans, pickle, and a cookie. No cheapie bulk meats for me, thanks--especially from the school cafeteria. I packed Easton a yogurt and he ate that plus some pickle and some cookie. Plus he tried watermelon! I love when he tries new things. Go E!

Gramoo got in some D time while I ate.

Notice the spacey (sciencey) shirt she's wearing as D's background here:

Grammy (my grandma, the boys' great-grandma) got some smiles and "conversation" in with Dizz too:

They both fell asleep on the way home:

Dalton also woke up on the way home hence not posting a blog earlier (if anyone even noticed).

He's down now and E's watching Toy Story 2 next to me and we're waiting for Jason to get home so we can start our weekend. Looking forward to it as usual. Enjoy yours too!

What a fun day. I wish I had your mom as PE teacher. Her activities sound really fun...even to a 27 year old.

I honestly have no idea how a mom would be able to go back to work after 12 weeks. I'm sure it's not easy and some just HAVE to do it, but I'm so glad that we've been able to stay home with our babies. It's such a blessing!

Thanks for sharing my big field day online. This was a pretty smooth one. Allowed me to enjoy 3 of my babies. I'm glad you all came so I could show everybody off. YEA! Moo
