Well, the night was a little scary. He woke up around 1:30 and Jason gave him some milk and realized that Dalton was burning even hotter than before. He drew up both the meds we've been giving him and then when Dalton woke again half an hour or so later, I took his actual temp: 103! and dosed him up, tried nursing him but he wasn't too interested so I put him back in his bed. About 10 minutes later he was crying and I discovered he had thrown up. Great...I'm sure he threw up a lot of his medicine, but probably not all of it, therefore: we couldn't give him any more.
And we were worried about him. He seemed so out of it. I changed his sheets and Jason put him in some fresh pajamas. The best part was when I went to clip his pacifier back to his jammies and clipped it not only to the p.j.'s but to the skin underneath as well. Smooth move, Mommy. :(
He recovered quickly and then was able to give a more sincere attempt at nursing. I kept running through in my head what I'd do if he had a febrile seizure. He was making me nervous. And I noticed that his diaper was still dry.
I put him back to bed after he finished his milking but he didn't go to sleep. For the next hour or so he was talking on and off. It was so cute when we heard him running through all our names: "MaMA? BubBA? DaDA?" over and over.
This morning he slept till about 9:00. His diaper was appropriately wet (whew!) and he didn't feel too hot. He was super duper cranky and clingy still but not quite as lethargic. After he'd been awake about an hour, however, he started feeling feverish again. His temp wasn't even 101 so we only dosed him with the Motrin. When it wears off at about 4:00 or so we're going to re-evaluate and consider calling the doctor.
I swear I don't believe in calling the doctor each time my kids have a fever. But he just seems soooo sick. And there's other stuff too that I won't get into right now. I don't want anyone overreacting. :) Because I don't feel like I am. He can't tell us what might be hurting. And his fevers don't respond to the meds like I like...or in a very timely manner.
The roseola that Kristin and Jessica mentioned is certainly something that's been in the back of my mind, Easton had it when HE was about 15 months old and it was a relief when the rash came so I knew what had been wrong with him with that unexplained fever. But when Easton had roseola his eyelids were kind of droopy and puffy...something I'm watching Dalton for.
So, I'll still keep you posted. Here's a few pictures till then...

Thanks for the update. I have been worrying about him (must be a mother thing). I hope you get some answers soon. Poor little guy.
Feel better sweet boy!
Love, Cori
You can ignore my email from earlier. I hadn't thought to check your blog yet. You are so good at keeping us updated.
I hate hearing that Dalton has been so sick. For what it's worth, I don't at all think you are overreacting. When fevers get to 103 and above, it's hard not to get a little freaked out.
We are praying for him. Hope we see his smiley face again soon!
Oh my! Poor sweet sugar. I sure hope to find out tomorrow that he is feeling better and that his fever has broken for good. I don't think you would be overreacting at all if you called the doctor. Just remind yourself that there are other moms that call for crazy silly reasons! ...that is what your doctor is there for. Trust your mommy instinct.
