Our Memorial Day

So, even though in the morning yesterday Dalton was fever free, he developed a high fever again while he napped. Bummer. We decided that we would keep him dosed with Tylenol and Motrin even if it meant having to wake him in the night...fortunately, or unfortunately really, he woke up plenty last night giving us ample opportunities to dose him up.

Anyway, I neglected to mention yesterday that with our second rough night with Dalton, Jason and I made a middle of the night agreement where I would let him sleep in Monday morning and then he'd let me nap later on. Worked out well.

The boys and I made our doughnut run and Jason got to snooze till about 9:30. After I put Dalton down for his nap at noon, I also took a little zizz while Easton and Jason ran a few errands to keep things quiet around home. It was nice. When they returned I woke up but they kept things quiet with some painting and some computing:

Part of their errand running involved a trip to the grocery store for some Memorial Day dinner fixin's: steaks, baked potatoes, and corn on the cob. I also whipped up some cheese garlic biscuits and oh my, that was one of the best dinners I've had in awhile. It was mighty tasty. The boys had macaroni, broccoli, and biscuits. Oh, and Easton loves corn on the cob:

Dalton actually ate well for the first time since his illness started. That was good. He was also quite cranky. I neglected to mention that on top of his mystery illness he's also cutting 3 teeth. His last of the one year molars and then 2 of his pointy teeth. I guess those would be his canine teeth. He's not been the most fun person to be around, poor guy:

His nose is running now too which may or may not be related to the teething. I just don't know anymore.

I do know that he is very slobbery with the teething, mixed with a snotty nose...well, it's best not too get too close to the fellow. He's also begun his hitting phase. It's not cool. Easton did it too around that age even though he had absolutely no "violent" examples to learn from. But with Dalton being so cranky he'll just up and smack you if he's upset. This morning Easton told me about Dalton, "He's having a hard time listening" and "He needs a time out".

He's not all crankiness, though. You can still get some smiles and fun from the chap:

Uh oh...guess who's turn is over:

But Bubba's having fun:

Kyla, you were asking what we played with our 3 year olds...it's that kind of stuff much of the time. Or this:

Aside from the hitting and crankiness, Dalton has remained fever free today even though his last dose of meds was sometime during the night. That's how it was yesterday though, till after naptime so I'm not getting my hopes up too high. He's got diarrhea now, though. Once yesterday and twice today. I'm not sure if it's part of the illness or if it's thanks to his antibiotics but I figured it wouldn't hurt to get him on some probiotics...I'm asking around to try to find some safe and recommended options for the younger crowd.

We have had a very lazy day, we even had to cancel going to a birthday party today because of how Dalton feels and also because we obviously don't want to pass whatever he might have onto other people if we can help it. Instead we made muffins, did laundry, and watched a bunch of TV:

I was cleaning Easton's hands after he ate just half a muffin for breakfast. He pointed to his tummy and declared, "This boy is full!"

Now they're doing their napping and quiet timing.

I think we'll run out to Whole Foods after they're up for those probiotics. I'm anxious to stop the diarrhea if we can...D's already borderline dehydrated as it is.

Thanks for checking in! Hope y'all had better weekends than we did with Mr. Sickie.

Sorry to hear Dalton is STILL sick, and cranky. My doctor who I really like recommended Culturelle when Izzy had a yucky tummy from antibiotics. It was here first time on an antibiotic (this past winter) and the doctor said that it is common to irritate a young "untouched" stomach. With this you open the capsule and sprinkle it into yogurt, milk, whatever. Hope that helps and that he is feeling better soon. Oh, and I just got it at the drugstore.

Hope the probiotics do the trick!

Dalton just can't catch a break. Feeling bad on top of teething. Yuck!

Your Memorial Day dinner sounds delicious. Steaks are my personal favorite. Yuummmm!

If it's one thing it's another with poor Dalton right now. Didn't he just get done teething some just enough to catch his breath and start some more?

I love the basket pictures. That is a favorite in our house too but only Jason does that one.

Micah is also in a hitting phase. The boy's just seem to be fighting all the time. Their favorite is to run in circles after each other but Ranen will get really close behind Micah and push him behind with his belly. Micah did a nice clothesline off the couch today. Hope you are able to nip the hitting.

Since I grew up with girls, I have a hard time figuring out what is appropriate for boy's and what is just uncalled for.

Sorry this is so long, but your post made me think of all kinds of things...lol

Hi! I saw your comment on Sheree's blog, I live in Arvada and know Sheree from an online mom's group for February 2005 mothers. I have a little boy who is 3, and a little girl who is almost 3 months. It is so good to see another Denver mom!

I am going backwards in your blog, so I already know D is feeling beeter :) YAY!

But I literally LOL when E told you D needed a timeout. Julia has said that many a time too about Grace. LOL.

And wow D is a teething fool. I thought Grace had a lot of teeth but I think D has her out numbered. We are working on number #11. Have I mentioned I hate teething!!!!
