While he was still sleeping this morning, at 7:57 a.m. our baby boy turned 18 months old. Happy half-birthday, Diddlebug!
Good thing he loves Elmo...Easton had an Elmo party when he turned 2. So we had a bunch of leftover supplies. Normally we wouldn't go all out like this for a half birthday, but we had the stuff. Might as well use it.
Easton set the table with Elmo napkins and plates. And put a party hat at each spot. We had held off on the highly allergenic nut family (especially the earlier you start them) with the plans to introduce them at 18 months like we did with Easton. So, to mark this milestone I made almond poppyseed muffins from a mix. However when I read the box...no nuts! Just wheat and dairy. And soy, I think as far as allergens go. Hee hee. Oh well. It was "nummy nummy" and a little bit hot:
Easton doing double duty with the hat and Batman mask:
I went to the Old Navy sale (well, I tried) after breakfast and came home and Dalton had shared a peanut butter granola bar with the others. Nuts.
Then for his lunch he had banana and peanut butter crackers. Easton saw what was happening and warned me, "Mom! Dalton can't have those!"
Eastie remembers that it's always been one of the snacks he was absolutely not allowed to share with his brother. What a good boy...reminding me like that.
The boys went up to their respective rooms after that. And I had to run to Wal-Mart. Jason and Easton have plans to camp out in E's room again tonight so I wanted to get stuff for Smores and look for a sleeping bag for E. He had a sleeping bag but before he even got a chance to use it one time, our darn cat peed on it while it was being stored in the basement. So I got him a new cheap one. But it's boring and grown-up sized.
When I came home, Dalton was up and sporting E's old Elmo slippers:
And was playing with one of Easton's Elmo toys:
Then he had more nuts. Roasted peanuts, lightly salted, straight from the can.
Before dinner we gave Easton his sleeping bag. And Dalton wanted in:
But I had a "present" for D too:
Really it wasn't a half birthday present, it was just that I bought something for E (the sleeping bag) I wanted to make sure to get D a surprise too.
After dinner Jason set up the tent. There was some stray debris left inside so Diddles tidied up:
Then climbed up into Bubba's bed to read a story:
Once the tent was ready we came down for our dessert. Easton was already at the counter, "Getting everything all ready":
Of course E helped make them:
It was my first time having microwave smores. Not bad.
It was Easton's first time having smores at all...but he knew all about how to make them from "Little Bill".
Dalton just had graham cracker. Shoulda put peanut butter on it in keeping with the theme of today:
Ready to go up for baths:
I hope D is ready for these sooner rather than later...
He put on E's discarded underpants from the hall:
That's okay, he was about to get washed anyway:
It was time for camo jammies (because of camping, you see) and stories by flashlight in the tent:
(The flashlights are hanging from the tent "ceiling".)
Then Jason laid with Easton for, like, an hour till he fell asleep. He'll go back in when it's time for him to go to bed--just like last time they camped in there.
I put my 18 month old to bed.
Tomorrow we're going to Elitch's with Rob and Kaiden. Pictures to come of that, I'm certain. The D.N.C. is in town and Jason's worried Elitch's will be full of visiting democrats and their rugrats. Till then...

Wow! I cant believe he is already 18 months old!
Time does go by soooo fast! Happy half bday little guy! Love, Cori
I'm worried trying to get past all the security checkpoints getting into LoDo and downtown because of the DNC. Lauren wanted to go this weekend before school started for her younger friends and I STRONGLY discouraged her. Good luck to ya'll! Have so much fun! Happy half birthday little Diddles! Moo
How did your baby get to be 18 months already? He isn't a baby anymore now that you can say he is one and a half :(
I can cook well, but for some reason I think I would mess up microwave smores.
18 months! Wow. Our little Dizzle, growing up so fast!
You guys are so fun with the indoor camping!
Again, please, please adopt me!
How fun does all that look!!
Matthew loves E's pjs! lol Happy half Birthday Diddles!! He is adorable!
Happy 1/2 Birthday Dalton! I am always impressed at Dalton's speaking compared to Micah.
I also think it is awesome that Easton and daddy have camping nights with smores and all. Very special.
Wow, 18 months already?! Hard to imagine. Love the bath pictures. That Dalton is one smiley boy.
So fun that J and Eastie went camping in the bedroom again. I'm trying to talk Matt into doing that with Adam. I think it is so, so special that your boys do that.
And microwavable smores! Why have I never thought of that?!
