Remember how I fell down the stairs today? (If not, read the post below).
Yeah, well...

I broke it...and everythings all strained and sprained in there too.
After it kept getting worse and worse pain-wise...and the swelling...and the discoloration (ecchymosis if you're fancy like me). I knew I should probably have it looked at, but I knew I'd feel stupid being seen if there wasn't much really wrong, you know? But after thinking about it I called my mom...she was up here to watch the boys in a flash (God bless her!) and I painfully drove myself up to my favorite urgent care clinic in Boulder. So much for urgent. I was sitting there for like an hour and a half just in the waiting area (hooray for Blackberries!)
When I finally got called back the nurse was freaking me out with her stares. Apparently I was the spitting image of her daughter and seriously, she was weirding me out with the way she was looking at me. But she was still nice enough.
Then the doctor came in...he was a hoot. As he walked in he was pretending to be reading my chart and was muttering, "Jumped out of a plane while skydiving and landed funny on foot..." :) Total character. I told him what happened and he said, "You were holding the baby? So that's why you're hurt!" We mommies will do anything to protect our babies, won't we?
He 'bout killed me with the pain from his exam, sent me for x-rays (OUCH again!) and then had the xray tech park my wheelchair in front of the screen where we'd later view the xray. Another nurse saw me just sitting there and joked, "Here for the matinee?" After such a long wait it was more than a pleasure to be back there with such fun people.
So yeah, doc came back...found a little break. Said it was the cutest fracture he'd seen all day. Hee hee. This is not my foot, but I stole this normal foot xray from online so you can see where my fracture is. If you can't tell what you're looking at, it's the ball of the foot-ish (where my red line is).
(I drew the fracture a little shallow, I noticed. It's not quite as tiny of a piece of bone on the left as it looks above, but just go with it.)
Then he said, "You see...there's a little problem with this fracture: when it heals, it could maybe form a callus (that's what healing bone is called) into the joint right there and give you some post-traumatic arthritis. You might be able to predict the weather with this toe!" It's just a big maybe, of course, but lovely to think about...no?
Anyway, they buddy taped up my toes, stuck me in the blue post-op boot, and sent me on my merry way. 2-4 weeks in the boot for it to get where I can walk okay. 4-6 weeks for it to actually heal. I kid you not though, the nurse that thought I resembled her daughter called out, "Love you!" as I was leaving. What??? I pretended like I didn't hear.
My mom was so awesome with the boys...and they with her. No problems or tears or anything when I left. In fact, when I left Easton poked his head around the corner and told me, "Try to be brave!" since he knew where I was headed. Sweet, sweet boy.
Once I finally made it home, Jason and Easton had gone to get us all Chipotle for dinner. And then because my mom is extra awesome she offered to bathe the boys while Jason and I ate. She's a rock star. We're so blessed to have her...and close by at that. Thank you, Moo!
After we ate we headed up to help out with bedtime. Jason did a hilarious jig at the top of the stairs (because he can) and said, "Are you jealous?" It was so funny, you had to see his face...and the dance.
But Moo got D out:
And Daddy took it from there:
And then she got E out:
Helped him brush:
And I gimped along to put him in his p.j.'s while she said her goodbyes and took off for home. Her ramekin of Chipotle guac and a slice of chocolate chip pie as her only payment. Thank you, Moosie!!!
And now, it's time for my pie.

That shoe is HOT. LOL.
Sorry about the injury. I told Josh the whole story (and he totally laughed too) but then we felt really sad about you sitting in urgent care with a broken toe. But man, what a story!
The timing!!!
Not only did you break it right in the middle of training camp, but if this had just happened yesterday, I probably could have gotten Brett Farve in here!
BIG bummer on the foot! I'm sorry you're a gimp, but like Kyla said...the shoe is fab!
Oh Kristin, you should totally eat pie all weekend. You deserve it!
I can't believe you didn't tell me about this yesterday! What an ordeal. Your doctor's visit sounds like a sitcom. That doctor was hilarious and the nurse was quite possibly nuts.
Do you have to sleep in the shoe and everything?
Thank goodness you got it checked out and thank goodness for Moo!
Take it easy, Gimpy. ;)
What a way to start the weekend. But glad that staff was really nice. But way weird about the lady saying "Love you".
Sounds like Moo is a wonderful help. Aren't mom's the greatest. Even ones that protect their children from getting hurt (or try to).
Wow a weather-predicting toe! Too bad you had to break it though. OUCH! Thank goodness for Grandmas! Btw, what a weird nurse . . . enjoy your pie! :)
