So Much To Say...

Oh, so much has happened since I last "really" blogged. Some of it I won't go into and some of it you'll wish I would just shut up already. :) And as usual, with my Monday recaps I have to go back to the pictures to remember where I left off.

Wednesday
Mr. Tambourine Man and his art project du jour:

Dalton didn't join us for that project:

And while I'm in an art project displaying mood, Tuesday the 29th Easton painted the souvenir sea creatures we brought him:

Thursday
Thursday was quite a day. But my boys were awesome, so it was other stuff. When I went to get Dalton in the morning, I'd discovered he'd thrown up sometime during the night so he and his bed were stinky and needed changing and washing. Him and the bed.

Plus D's diaper was dry. For more than 13 hours...but I got online and discovered our friends were going on 22 hours with dry diapers, so I wasn't as worried about D anymore...and he peed around then anyway.

Easton had to have a time-out that morning because we're starting to work on telling the truth. And so even though he wasn't being "bad"...and I felt bad sticking him in the corner, we needed to start somewhere with learning to be honest when necessary. Poor guy. It's tough to be my kid. :)

But after that we headed down to Funtastic Fun...that indoor amusement park. We're on day 20 or so of above 90 temps so you weren't going to see us outside...and we had a leftover "free admission" coupon since they didn't charge my mom for Dalton when she and Lauren took the boys.

We had fun, and this time they charged me for D...Grrrr:

Check out Diddles' spiky 'do:

We left for lunch and naps but D fell asleep in the car. I had a coupon for a free meal from Noodles so we all shared a bowl of mac and cheese and then went home. Unfortunately I spent a bunch of time on the phone that day, I didn't even have time to put the boys in their rooms for quiet time or D's offical nap. I stuck them in front of the TV instead. They were soooo well behaved and I felt bad. So I gave them a few cookies. D got pink frosting on the carpet (it came out, whew!). Another time he fell off the couch and then yakked. I couldn't tell if he threw up at first from crying or from a concussion (it didn't take long to decide...it was from the crying).

Dalton has been eating very poorly lately. We totally regret introducing the sweet foods when we did, it's been since then that his eating has gone soooo downhill...just like his brother did after HIS first tastes of "junk". So that was really worrying and frustrating me on Thursday...and D was limping again that day too. He'd been walking funny for a few days, but by Thursday night I decided I'd call the doctor about it in the morning. Sheesh.

But we had fun that afternoon as well...fingerpainting:

The boys took their baths early that evening since they were covered in paint. And then they worked on another project...a foam frame like we made for July:

Because they'd already bathed, the boys were able to play a little extra with Daddy that night, which is always nice.

Friday
Friday was art class...and also the day I was going to take Dalton back to orthopedics. Easton was happy about neither idea. I was going to take him to my moms while I took Dalton to the doctor. It was 102 that day and they were going to swim, but Easton still didn't want me to leave.

However, I am so pleased to report that his final session of Art Start went great. I did what has become my norm and Diddles (in his stroller) and I sat by the door for the first part of the class...about 10-12 minutes. My friend O-tay (Wee Laddie's mom) got some pictures and video that she shared with me:

Eastie sure didn't look nervous in that video, did he? :)

When it was time for them to change activities I went and told him I had to take Dalton out in the lobby and I'd come get him soon. He said, "But I don't want you to leave" and my response was, "Oh, I'm not leaving...I'm just going to be out there and I'll come get you in a few (or 45) minutes." He was fine. Any time I peeked through the window he was having a blast. Why does he think he won't?

He made this:

which says:

MY HANDS
These little hands can wave hello
Or put smudges on the wall
They can fold in prayer, throw a kiss
Or reach up so very tall
They'll clasp your hand for a little stroll
Or shape a ball from clay
But most of all they'll stay with you
When I'm grown up and far away

I guess it's supposed to go along with this...
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
...which should probably melt my heart and make me all nostalgic, but that's supposed to be the imprint of his hand in there. They made the imprints last week and then painted them this week. If I could see his little handprint I'm sure I'd feel like I'm supposed to feel, but I can't see it. So it doesn't make me cry.

He also came home with this:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
It is full of blank paper...I guess for him to do his drawings and sketches?

We went straight from art class to Gramoo's where I put Diddles right down for his nap. Gramoo made the rest of us delicious BLT's for lunch. Yum-O!

Before long I had to wake up my Diddykins to take him to his appointment. Not sure why we rushed as we had to wait for over an hour for anyone to even come talk to us:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

When someone finally did come to talk to us, it still wasn't the doctor. It was a guy saying, "I'm sure she'll order an x-ray so let's go get that out of the way":
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

After not much of a nap and being cooped up in that stupid little room for forever, Diddles was not happy about having an x-ray or two. And they even had to repeat one of them. He felt like this:

The doctor said she didn't know why he was limping again...but that there appeared to be no trauma. She said let's watch it for a week...if it gets worse within that time then we'll have to get some more invasive tests done like blood work and a bone scan, if it gets better then we'll forget about it for now. Now that it's Monday it's definitely looking better although he still seems to stumble and fall a bit more often than is "normal" for him.

By the way, Easton did perfectly when I left him at Gramoo's. No objections. And they swam. All was well.

When I went back to pick him up it was rush hour and my mom and I ordered in from Jason's Deli and I took the boys back home just in time for bed instead. (Jason worked late).

Saturday
Saturday morning was soccer. Easton is improving with every week, both his actual skills but also getting in the game. He was actually trying to get in the action a little more this last time. Too bad next week is his last time for this summer. Our coach is nice and all, but not a great coach. Even though we hate soccer Jason is thinking he might volunteer to coach next summer. He'd do better than our coach, I'm sure.

We got the professional pictures back and I'll share that after the grandparents let me know they've gotten their copy.

The only picture I could squeeze out before the batteries died was this one of Diddles in Easton's soccer socks:

We came home and did pancakes again...this time Easton requested Spiderman pancakes and, although it's more like a grid than a web, look what I made him:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

And with some leftover melted chocolate I tried to make a Batman sign as well...it looked better before I flipped them over:

Saturday afternoon was when I went to the movies with Loƫ. Jason watched the boys and I'm very proud because it was the first time he'd taken the both the boys anywhere by himself. Not that he didn't think he could, it's just really never come up. But they went to get a pizza for their dinner. And then came home and played Rock Band with E on drums, D on keys, and J on guitar...as well as many of their other favorites, I'm sure. After that they went out for ice cream. Then J put them to bed while I went out shopping for Lauren which I'm sure counts as my "me time" for the month. :)

Sunday
We woke up early with the boys and had breakfast at our usual time. The plan was to meet Lauren for a late brunch as you can't expect the teenage birthday girl to wake up before 11 on her 18th birthday. So once she was up we met for brunch at about 12:15.

Then we came home and Dalton and I took naps. How lovely. I've been craving a nap and it was nice. However, it meant Jason didn't have time to mow the lawn this weekend. Oh well!

About an hour after Dalton went to sleep last night we heard him start coughing and snorting. It seems that he's suddenly sick. Strange. Part of me was trying to figure out if he'd tried any new foods at dinner he might've been having an allergic reaction to. But no, he's just sick with a cold.

Monday
Doughnut day! Today we opted to bring them home instead of eating at the restaurant. Dalton always does better eating them at home.

We lazed around the house after that doing a few chores like laundry:

Diddles was my helper this time as you can see. Easton was playing on the computer.

They're both doing their quiet time now and I'm finally feeling caught up on the blogging once again. Woo hoo!

Since I can never remember all that I want to comment on, I actually took a few notes this time. :)

The tambourine and sea creatures crafts turned out really great. Where did you get the little sea creature figurines? Looks like a good cheap alternative to the pottery painting we like to do.

The picture of Easton in the balls...ADORABLE! As is Diddle's spikey hair!

I don't really remember when Adam became such a picky eater, but now I'm definitely going to reconsider the junk/sweets for Drew since it was the turning point for both your boys. That's such a shame.

Looks like a fun b-day brunch for Lauren. The family pics are all really cute.

Do you have the game Rock Band or were the boys playing real instruments? I'm guessing they used the real thing, but I've heard good things about Rock Band and thought I'd ask.

Lastly, Adam told his first lie last week. He's told several since then. I don't know why that's become an issue all of a sudden. And for the record, I don't think you were too harsh at all. Even when Adam fibs about something silly, we make a kinda big deal out of it because I don't want him to ever think lying is okay.

Sorry this was so long!

Boy, you sure had alot of catching up to do. I am always amazed at Easton's art project. Maybe because my boy's don't like crafts that much. At least not coloring for the most part.

That is great that Jason had some time with the boy's and took them out. It is challenging with two little ones. My Jason has not done that yet.

I hope Dalton feels better and gets over his cold really quick. And that his leg gets better and doesn't need additional tests.

Wow. You said quite a lot in that post.

I love all the craft projects. The tambourine looks really cute. Where did that idea come from? I also like the batman mask while making the frame. I am sure it helped with his concentration and the final product.

I sure hope you figure out what is going on with D's leg? I think he looks adorable with spikey hair and so much older.

Kuddos to Jason for the great father/sons bonding time. Pete will have both kids for a weekend when I go to the beach with the girls. You think your "me time" quota is gone for a month, well mine will be gone for the rest of the year!

I love D's spikey hair!!!

I wish he was eating better for you. And that his little limp wasn't giving you trouble again. Does he ever complain of pain? Like during the exam or anything? I hope he feels better on all fronts soon!

I'm glad E was able to finish Art Start and that the end was much smoother than the beginning. LOL.

I think you had mad pancaking making skills, BTW. Batman and Spiderman? Wow. KayTar would BEG for one...and then she would carry it around on the plate and talk to it and stuff. But not eat it, of course.

Wow, it was craft central at your house for the latter half of last week--I adore the sea creatures and admire your willingness to let them finger paint...I'm not that brave yet! I don't mind the mess so much, it's just all four girls would require help at the same time cleaning up!

When did Dalton become such a big boy? He looks huge in those pics from the amusement park.

Sorry you had so much stress last week, hoping it eases for you this week!
