It was a great day. My guys all made it very special.
It started with Jason trying to let me sleep in, but with my "mother's ears" it requires some special adjustments to block out the sounds from the house and so it didn't work out. But it was all good, I was happy to snuggle with my one awake boy:
With Dalton still asleep Jason ran out to get my favorite restaurant breakfast--but we got it To Go! Score. I didn't have to shower or get dressed or wait for an hour in a crowded restaurant for my strawberry crepes. Yum! And this picture shows how much my hubby gets me:
He took a picture of the bag...so I could blog about it. Does he know me or what? :)
When J got home, Dalton had joined us and I wanted a picture with him too:
And then began my quest to get a winning picture with both my boys for Mother's Day. It has been a goal of mine every year. I'm not often in pictures, I'm usually taking them. But then, having two kids makes it even harder to get all 3 of us looking good. We got off to a very rough start:
Little pouter:
This one's a little better but thanks to the p.j.'s and my hair 'do it's not frameworthy or anything:
We came down for our breakfast:
That's when Easton sneezed about 6 times all over his funny face pancake leading us to believe he might be coming down with something. Plus he barely touched his pancake.
After my crepes were devoured it was on to the living room for some mellow family time playing and such:
Then it was time for me to open my gift:
It's a Rachel Ray Family Cookbook with a beautiful note from Jason written inside. In the back were 3 gift cards to some of my favorite spots to eat lunch with my little dudes: Noodles, Atlanta Bread, and Spicy Pickle. Yum! Sandwiches and mac and cheese. I'm telling you, the man knows me. :)
"Thank you, Easton!"
Before long Jason took us all outside for more goodies. We stood in the driveway in our jammies and he hit the garage door opener to reveal a bunch of flowers for us to plant all together. And two hanging baskets for our porch:
Nothing says Mother's Day like flowers, eh?
We decided to head back inside for a bit and to attempt the planting while Dalton napped. Otherwise he'd require too much supervision in the front yard. So we played some more:
And I took some "24 hours later" pictures of Mr. Face Plant:
I started to inspect his injuries a little further. He freaked out at one point when J was flossing his teeth the night before so I wanted to take a look inside his mouth which hadn't occured to me till then. He had a little cut on his gum and may've chipped his already chipped tooth a little more. At first I was sure he'd chipped 2 others, but I looked back at some recent pictures and he's just got funny shaped teeth, I think. Even so, we're probably heading to the dentist later this week to see.
I put D down for his nap around noonish and the rest of us headed outside. We prepped the flower bed and Easton was excited to see all the bugs and worms:
He told the worm, "Hello, Worm. Nice to meet you. Do you want to crawl in the dirt?"
We brought over the flowers:
I got to pick how I wanted them arranged:
And we put 'em in. Easton and I taking a whiff of the marigolds even though we're pretty sure he has anosmia (I'll go into that some other time).
Ta da!
They'll make me happy every time I pull up.
Easton was way too excited to get the "hosie" and water them:
And take a drink:
Dude! It's a wonder he didn't chip more teeth!
After our planting, E and I hopped in the shower while Jason ran to Sonic for a big sweet tea for me. Yummy! Easton had some quiet time and Jason and I watched some "P.S. I Love You" before the boys got up an we headed to meet my mom and Lauren for dinner.
We had planned on the Olive Garden between us but of course the wait was ghastly, even at 3:30. But the TGI Friday's nearby didn't have much of a wait (or so it seemed) so we went there instead. Sounded better to me anyway even if it's not as "nice".
I made sure to have J take a pic with me and D since he missed out on the flower planting pictures:
He's signing (and saying) "Please" here, he wants his sippy:
We had a yummy early dinner...Easton ate some of his macaroni and moved onto his carrot sticks. But stuck his entire hand in his ranch dressing which did not make me very happy. So I took that away and let him play with his carrots:
He and Gramoo had a grand ol' time.
Diddles did well too, but he wasn't sitting by me:
Friday's was giving all the mom's a free Oreo cake...me and Moo each got a piece but shared with the others. I ate most of one myself, though.
Then we moved outside for pictures. No better backdrop than the Friday's parking lot, I always say.
Do you like how we've all got plaid butts? Yes, we planned it that way. In fact, I even broke out a new pair of shorts for J that I was saving for Father's Day. Oh well.
Jason didn't like that pic much. It was just for fun.
Our faces instead:
Trying again for a winning shot of me and my boys:
Nope.
My mom, Lauren and I:
I've gotta tell ya, now that my mom has lost well over a hundred pounds, I'm not loving my new role as the fattest person in the family. Not that I think I'm "fat", per se...but I do take up the most room in family photos now. :(
After that we said our goodbyes to Mom and Lauren and the rest of us headed back towards home, but I thought I liked the idea of going to the park or something first, since it was early. So we stopped at the rec center park by our house. We put the camera on timer for another family shot:
Then we let the boys loose. Oh, and Easton was indeed sick, by the way. He was swinging in a big kid swing and we make him hold on with both hands. Well, his nose was running so he said he needed to wipe it. Jason said, "Okay you can" and Easton just let go with one hand...and then fell out and eventually had to let go with the other hand. Poor kid. There were only two baby swings, D was in one and another kid was in the other. So we made due:
Easton clearly wasn't having the most fun.
But the other swing opened up and everyone was better again:
How cute are D's little $5 sandals?
And how cute is my hubby in his new outfit?
I told him he had to pose for me, and I got all these. What a good sport he is:
And such a great Daddy too!
Well, except for when he sent Diddles down the slide on his face!
Dalton was just fine, folks. He had a blast on the slide...but gosh, it's no wonder our other kid has a messed up grill, eh? :)
He goes down the slide normally:
Usually.
Helping brother out the next time:
I think J is so cute.
Spiderboy.
Finally it was our turn to spin!
Dalton insisted on having a turn as well, and we are so glad we let him. Look at this great shot!
He likes to climb like brother:
No hands (from Dad)!
Time to go!
D works to catch up to Daddy and Bubba:
I asked to pose with my boys and my new flowers before heading inside for bathtime, still trying to get that frame-able photo. First another with just D, since he'd missed out before:
Not quite.
Definitely not.
I am the mother of two rascals!
Guess we'll have to go with this one:
What a great Mother's Day!

That a terrific picture! It looks like you had a wonderful day.
I Hop to go?! I'm jealous!! My favorite is stuffed french toast. Yum.
Looks like a beautiful Mother's Day!! I love how J took the picture of the bag. That's true love right there.
You got so many great photos!! I can't even name them all. D is looking more and more like a big guy! Awww! And I'm always surprised at how strong Eastie is. He's quite the little monkey. I'm glad he didn't end up chipping two teeth. And J is such a good sport posing for the photos. LOL.
Looks like you had a wonderful Mother's Day. I never think to try and get pictures of me and the boys. Actually I barely have any.
Your Mother's Day looks wonderful. You have such great guys! The fact that you can fit a 1 and 3 year old in the baby swing together cracks me up. E does not look pleased to have a riding partner. I love the last photo and am jealous you even have one. All our attempts for the day failed.
What a great Mother's day! Food, fun, flowers...what more could you ask for?
The last picture may not be the "smiliest" one of the boys, but you look FANTASTIC in it!
I love your photo stories!!! They are just all so cute!! I loved the hubby montage too that totally made me laugh out loud! definitely something andrew would let me do! gotta love silly hubbies!
What a fantastic Mother's Day. You got some great pictures in there too. I loved the plaid theme!
