They're officially brothers...Easton gave Dalton the universal mark of brotherhood: he wiped a booger on him. First time, that I know of, anyway. Lovely.
Yesterday afternoon was filled with more gymnastics. And Dalton is learning all kinds of stunts from his big brother. For example, he'll climb up on the couch and then try to climb over the back a la Easton. Ack! He's threatened to go off head first more than once. Why can't smarts come with some of these skills, eh? And he also likes to climb over the arm of the couch and drop down. Those goobers!
Diddles has also adopted his brother's fondness for moving stools around the room and such so that they can reach higher places. Here D is snagging a movie off our "portal" wall:
And some more very impressive gymnastics from you know who:
Can you tell specifically what's on the TV?
Jason said, "How long can he hold that for?" The answer is .2 seconds, long enough to get a non-blurry picture on our first and only try.
Then watching diving he began doing these:
I'm glad I was fixing dinner when he decided to start trying those...saved me from a few gray hairs I'm sure as I would've surely worried about him breaking his neck.
Dalton and I did horsey rides while we watched:
And he stole E's hat:
I got a somewhat disappointing phone call yesterday. It was from Easton's preschool that he starts two weeks from yesterday. We'd been talking about school a teeny bit, and some of the things we'd told him were his teacher's name, the class pets, and that cool treehousey loft thing you might remember from the picture. Well, the call yesterday was from a different woman...enrollment is severely down this year and they've had to combine Easton and another kid into this other class. Not the teacher we saw and signed up for, I've never even met her let alone seen how she runs her classroom. So we're anxious. Easton has handled the teacher name change fine and instead of a turtle, bird, and spider he's going to have 2 guinea pigs. So we looked at some pictures of such creatures online. We haven't told him about no treehouse yet because we're not sure. Easton and I get to go do a school visit and meet the teacher and see his classroom next week. He's nervous...I told him we'd go visit it and that I would come with him the first day and then he adds, "And then you and Dalton have to watch me after that." Ummmmm, no.
We're pretty bummed but we're trying to remain open-minded about the changes. The teacher could be perfectly lovely but it's just a huge bummer that it's not exactly what we signed up for, I'm not even sure if his class is all 3 year olds or if it's multi-age or what. I guess we'll find out next week.
Today was a very exciting day...we went to check out the gym where Easton will hopefully take gymnastics classes. They do an open gym playtime where you can just drop in $3 a kid for us non-residents but that's cheap enough. The boys had an absolute blast. It was the most fun we've had in awhile. As we were getting ready to leave I handed Easton some clothes. Knowing we were going to a gymnastics place he said, "This is not what I'm supposed to wear" (he's hung up on the official gymnast outfits he sees on TV, spikey hair and all). I told him this was just to play--it wasn't a real class--so it would be okay.
They had all the cool stuff you'd expect to see and some extras like an inflatable bounce house thing, a little slide, some balls, hula hoops... It was better than the My Gym set up but cheaper and closer. Score!
They had 2 gymnastics coach gals there to supervise as we just did whatever we wanted with our kids. By the way, there was only one girl among the 10+ boys. Go male gymnasts! As Easton was on the rings one of the coach girls remarked how impressed she was with Easton's strength. That's my boy! I know he doesn't weigh a whole lot, but I think he's strong anyway. A lot of people figure strength/body weight as a ratio. Whatever, I'm allowed to brag on my own blog. He's impressive. :)
Here's a montage of our hour spent at the rec center this morning:
And a few lengthwise pictures that would be lost in that "landscape-style" montage...I didn't know that D could hang (he could do it for awhile)! And he liked it!
E on the rings...
(Doesn't he look like a real gymnast about to go into a pass? That's what it's called on the floor, no idea on the rings).
Climbing up (I guess my children are destined to be climbers)...
...to hang down again:
E supporting himself on the bar:
As the coach was giving out squrits of hand-sanitizer as we were leaving she asked Eastie, "Are you going to sign up for class?" and Easton's answer was, "First I need to get a costume." He's hung up on looking the part (which is apparently something his Daddy was always concerned about too!). We're planning to go to non-resident registration first thing tomorrow and hoping there's room somewhere for him to take a class. He would LOVE it and I asked and they have little bleachers for the parents to sit in so I wouldn't really have to leave. I'll watch from afar like at swimming which should be perfect. I'll just have to keep Dalton entertained, and that's assuming there's a spot.
Speaking of swimming, our last class is tonight, I fully expect Easton to graduate into the next level like he did last time ha ha ha. Oh, and before I forget...this silly clip from driving to swim class on Monday:
Those goober-heads keep us so entertained.
Until next time...

Easton is crazy strong. I mean honestly, he is sooooo strong!
I was watching his flips and thought he I would be thinking "OMG you are gonna break your neck" only to then see you said the same thing.
That play gym place looks like so much fun. For $3 it looks like the greatest place to take your kids and tire them out. ..and E on the rings. Again, crazy strong!
Oh, and sorry to hear about the school situation. I would be upset and disappointed. I suppose you always have th option to pull him if it doesn't work out? It is probably even more difficult knowing that this is both your first experience, as well as E's, with school. You want to be as prepared and as comfortable as possible before it all starts. Bummer. I do like that he seems to think you are going to "watch" him while he is at school :)
Oh yeah for Easton! I can't wait for upcoming updates on gymnastics. He is going to be so awesome. And Ranen was right, he is strong. He's a monster.
That is a bummer about the school thing. I hope he likes his new teacher and it actually works out better. Less than 2 wks, ackkkkkk!
Easton is amazing!! Seriously he is a total natural. I'm interested to see where he goes with this! Gillian has also figure out how to get the stool out of the bathroom grrrrrrr . . .
Fun day, indeed!
That gymnastics place looks a lot like the one we've been to a few times, except yours didn't have the foam pit that sucks in unsuspecting parents. And yours is much cheaper and has play times during the day. Ours is only on Friday nights. Boo.
I'm way impressed with all of Easton's gymnastic abilities. He's a natural!
easton is going to be in the olympics one day...watch! He is awesome ;)
I was looking for this post yesterday! LOL. I knew there had to be more gymnastics stuff than you posted over elsewhere.
How cool. I'm excited for Easton. He clearly is skilled with this sort of thing.
Looks like open gym was fun. When BubTar was younger, we went to a couple gymnastic open gym birthdays and they were so fun for him.
